2027 Nordica Unleashed 106 Skis Review

"It's playful and maneuverable, but it's still hard-charging at high speed. You're not losing any of that downhill performance."

The Nordica Unleashed 106 steps in as the redesigned heir to the Unleashed 108, trading a touch of width for a serious rocker upgrade in the tip and tail. Pair that with a strip of Titanal for backbone and enough camber underfoot for real pop, and you get a freeride shape that floats and surfs through soft snow but still holds an edge when you decide to open it up. We put it through first laps on BC's mixed terrain, and the early read is that this is the versatile daily driver freeriders have been asking for.

Pros

  • Playful, easy-turning shape that doesn't sacrifice stability once speeds climb
  • Titanal build and generous camber add pop and confidence when you push it
  • Genuine one-ski quiver piece, equally happy in packed groomers or knee-deep pow
  • Balanced, confidence-inspiring feel that doesn't demand perfect technique to enjoy

Cons

  • Titanal build runs stiff for true beginners, better suited to strong intermediates and up
  • Not the lightest option out there, so it's a middling pick if you're building a dedicated touring setup (works fine for occasional slack country duty with a Shift or Duke PT)
  • Like most skis in the 106mm all-mountain category, it's more generalist than specialist, capable everywhere but not the best at any one thing

Who Is It For?

This one's built for the freeride all-mountain crowd: skiers who want a single pair that can handle a powder morning and a groomer afternoon without complaint. The softer, more playful flex means strong intermediates can feel at home fast, while the shorter effective edge and Titanal build give advanced and expert riders plenty to work with when they push it through trees, chop, or wide-open bowls. New skiers will likely find the Titanal build stiffer than they want, but anyone with some mileage who wants a ski that rewards a surfy style just as much as a hard-charging one will find the Unleashed 106 dialed.
