Revel in this central Hokkaido gem which boasts Japan’s best quality snow, an excellent variety of terrain, and delightfully authentic culture.
Join evoTrip + our Rhythm Rides guides on an epic 8-day skiing and snowboarding adventure to Furano. Spend your days riding Japan’s driest powder, with plentiful options from in-bounds groomers and off-piste runs to heaps of slackcountry – thanks to the resort’s extensive gate system. Your guides will help you access the best stashes, the most incredible food, and the most delightful jaunts to surrounding destinations – from shredding at nearby ski areas like Sahoro or Kamui Ski Links, to soaking in natural hot springs (onsen) with spectacular alpine views.

Please note: This trip is designed and recommended for intermediate and above skiers and snowboarders, meaning you are comfortable on most blue runs, can link turns in powder snow, can make a variety of turn shapes and can traverse & hold speed. See FAQ for more information about ability level requirements.

Itinerary
Itinerary
Please note the itinerary is subject to change, depending on weather, conditions, and guide judgement. Our goal is to find the best snow for you each day.
  • 0
    Day number 0
Optional: You may choose to arrive at New Chitose Airport the day before your trip begins and check into the hotel of your choice. We recommend the Air Terminal Hotel, especially if you are arriving late in the evening. You'll have time to relax and explore Chitose before meeting up with the group the next morning.

This night is optional — you can also choose to stay overnight in Haneda or Narita and fly to New Chitose on your trip’s start date, as long as you arrive by 11:00 AM to meet the group at 11:30 AM for a 12PM noon departure.
  • 1
    Day number 1
    Welcome to Japan!
For guests arriving at CTS today, please ensure your flight lands no later than 11:00 AM local time. After you arrive, make your way to the south end of the terminal, where you’ll meet your trip host and fellow travelers at 11:30 AM. Our group is scheduled to depart at 12 PM noon.

We will then board a private coach for a scenic 2.5-hour journey to the resort village of Furano. Once we arrive, we'll check in and get comfortable at our accommodations. After settling in, your trip leader will provide an overview of the area and outline everything you can expect for the exciting week ahead.

This is a great time to grab any rental gear you might need from Rhythm Furano. After that, feel free to spend the afternoon your way—unwind at the lodge, wander through Furano’s charming village, browse the local shops, visit the hotel’s onsen, or simply soak up the fresh mountain air before the week’s adventures kick off. We’ll bring everyone together in the evening for a fun group welcome dinner!
  • 2
    Day number 2
Meet for breakfast to outline the day’s plan and get stoked! Gear up and meet your guides and get ready for your first day on snow. For our first day of riding, we’ll head towards the Kitanomine Zone side of Furano. This and the Furano Zone constitute the Furano Resort, our winter playground. You are welcome to stay in the group(s) or explore on your own – unless you plan to go out of any backcountry gates, in which case staying with your guide is required. As with most ski days, we’ll identify a suggested (optional) meeting spot for lunch and discuss the end of day plan for returning to the lodge. After a magical, first full day of riding, you’ll have time to relax back at the hotel or explore Furano, before heading out for dinner that evening.
  • 3
    Day number 3
Depending on weather and group preferences, today could be an excellent day to explore Furano’s gate system. With the expertise of your guides along with the ease of lift access, these zones are available to you whether you’re experienced or new to the backcountry. Break for lunch or push through for a few more laps, topping off your day with some well-deserved après snacks and drinks. We'll have another group dinner reservation, or in the case of those staying at Furano Villa, your first in-lodge dinner prepared by local chef, Hayato Nogami.
  • 4
    Day number 4
Now that you’ve spent a few days riding Furano, we will take a day to chase powder and go check out another ski area. Weather and group preferences will help determine where we land. Sahoro is renowned for top notch snow, excellent tree skiing, and few crowds, while Asahidaki offers fantastic backcountry terrain, accessible by cable car, along with the feeling that you’re far from any kind of resort. Depending on timing, we’ll grab a casual, hearty dinner either on the way back to town or in Furano.
  • 5
    Day number 5
After a few action-packed days on the mountain, today is your chance to slow down and recharge. Spend the day exploring the town, pick up some souvenirs, or unwind with a soak in one of the area's relaxing onsen baths. Your guides will be taking a well-earned rest, but if you’re eager to keep the momentum going, you’re welcome to head back to the resort for more laps. (Please note: lift tickets for this day are not included.)
  • 6
    Day number 6
Today we’ll be back at our home resort for a day of exploring Kitanomine and Furano. Your guides will make suggestions based on weather, conditions, and the desires of the group(s). As always, you’re welcome to sit the day out if you’d rather rest your legs, explore town, souvenir shop, or hit up another onsen.
  • 7
    Day number 7
It’s the grand finale — your last day to send it in Furano! Dive into familiar terrain, hit those favorite lines one more time, and chase every turn like it’s the last of the week. Refuel with your go-to mountain-side lunch, then ride hard into the afternoon, until your legs are burning and your face is covered in snow. After an epic day on the slopes, raise a glass at après to celebrate an unforgettable week, pack up your gear, and meet up for one last legendary group dinner (in town for the Chalet Burlap crew, and by chef Nogami for the Furano Villa crew).
  • 8
    Day number 8
Wake up, bid farewell to your guides + fellow riders, and head to New Chitose Airport to head home. As it is a 2 hour transfer to CTS Airport, we ask that your flight from CTS depart no earlier than noon, If you would like to stay longer or add days to explore more of Japan, we are happy to help coordinate this and may have shipping options available for luggage.

Area Information
Central Hokkaido & Furano

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again... central Hokkaido is home to the most amazing snow on the planet. This section of Japan’s northernmost island benefits from Siberian storm systems that pass over the Sea of Japan and dump the lightest powder imaginable, and plenty of it. Featuring a plethora of worthy ski destinations, from Furano to Sahoro, Tomamo to Asahidake, this region of the country is also refreshingly not westernized, so you can experience few crowds, authentic Japanese culture, and untracked powder for days.

Furano sits in the heart of it all, bordered by Daisetsu-Zan National Park, and offers winter enthusiasts both an extensive, world-class ski area and a great little town to explore. Large by Japanese standards, and the venue for world cup ski races for decades, this resort offers over 3,000 ft. of vertical serviced by 11 lifts. Divided into two interconnected zones, the Kitanomine Zone and the Furano Zone, the resort offers an abundance of on- and off-piste options, some of the steepest runs on the island, and lift-accessible backcountry and sidecountry.

FAQ
FAQ
  • Is my trip guranteed to run?
Yes, all evoTrip Furano departures are confirmed to run. Please wait to finalize travel plans until you receive a confirmation email from evoTrip.
  • I've got a crew! What kind of pricing can you offer for me & my party of 6 or more people?
Awesome! We are pleased to offer discounted pricing for groups of 6-12 people. For a group of 6-7 (including you), the trip price for Classic Furano is $3650 per person, and for Premium Furano it's $4450 per person. For a group of 8-9, Classic Furano is $3550 per person, and for Premium Furano it's $4350 per person. For a group of 10-12, Classic Furano is $3450 per person, and for Premium Furano it's $4250 per person. Please email [email protected] if you have a group and we can happily arrange a custom, discounted booking for you.
  • When and how do I meet up with the group?
If flying into New Chitose Airport (CTS) on Day 1, please select a flight that arrives by 11am. We'll meet as a group at 1130AM on Day 1.. If possible, we do recommend arriving the day before the trip starts so you can get some rest (and get ahead of jet lag) before our adventure. We recommend the Air Terminal Hotel if you do arrive the night before, but there are plenty of other options. Any questions, just let us know!
  • I'm ready to book. What next?
To secure your spot, you can either pay the full amount now or contact Customer Care at 1.866.386.1590 if you prefer to only pay your $1,000 per person deposit. Note that regardless of paying full payment or deposit at time of booking, we will consider $1,000 to be a non-refundable deposit in accordance with our terms and conditions. Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure.
  • Can I choose my roommate?
Yes. If you have a roommate request, please let us know. By default, we will place two people of the same gender in a room with two beds.
  • What if I’m a solo traveler? Can I get my own room?
Yes, single rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. Please note that an additional cost (known as a single supplement) will apply. For Chalet Burlap Furanui, the single supplement is $750. For Furano Villa, please contact us for pricing and availability.
  • What if I'm a solo traveler that would like a roommate but none are available?
If you are a solo traveler that would like a roommate, we do our best to pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. However, if no roommate option is available and you must be assigned your own room, you will be asked to pay 50% of the single supplement to cover the cost of your room ($375 for Chalet Burlap Furanui, contact us for pricing for Furano Villa). Please note roommates are paired on a first come, first served basis, so the earlier you book the less likely you will be "forced" into a single room! If you are traveling solo, please contact us at [email protected] for pricing information before completing your booking.
  • What level of skier/snowboarder do I need to be for this trip?
We recommend this trip for intermediate and above skiers and riders, meaning you are comfortable on most blue runs, can link turns in powder snow, make a variety of turn shapes, traverse, hold speed, and are adventurous when skiing or snowboarding across the entire mountain. Familiarity with riding off-piste is highly beneficial for this trip. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions about ability level.
  • Should I tip my guides?
Yes, guide gratuity is not included in your trip package and is recommended if you enjoyed your experience.
  • What is included in my trip?
This trip includes: Transportation by private coach from the Chitose (Sapporo) airport to Furano and back. 7 nights of accommodations. All breakfasts, plus one group dinner for Classic Furano, or two dinners prepared by local chef for Premium Furano. Five days of lift tickets and skiing at another area resort. Support from two trip leaders/guides. Private ground transportation as needed. Optional dinner reservations. Recommendations for food / drink and entertainment.
  • What is NOT included in this trip?
Airfare. Most lunches and dinners – we will provide recommendations and help arrange reservations. Taxi rides or any transportation outside of scheduled group travel. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect your flight and belongings as well as cover medical expenses. For travel insurance, we recommend World Nomads. We recommend planning to spend $500-$600 on meals, drinks, entertainment, and gifts.
  • What gear should I bring?
We'll send out a comprehensive gear list prior to your departure. Please let us know if you have any questions about recommended gear for this trip.
  • Are rentals available?
Yes! Our partners at Rhythm in Furano can help take care of all your ski and snowboard rental needs. More information on rental inventory at www.rhythmjapan.com/rentals. We are happy to offer guests 10% off rentals booked for their evoTrip. Please use the following link to make your reservation and receive your discount https://tinyurl.com/Rhythm-Rentals.
  • Is there a discount if I already have an Ikon Pass?
Yes, if you have an Ikon or Ikon Base pass and would like to join our Furano trip, we will provide a discount of $200 after booking in the form of a refund. Please let us know after booking if you do not need lift tickets.
  • I am going to come early / stay longer; can I do something with my gear?
Japan has an incredible luggage delivery service (Black Cat) that you can take advantage of for about $50. If you arrive early, you can send your snow gear to the lodge from the airport. If you are staying longer, you can have your luggage delivered to the airport ahead of your arrival. We can give you all the information to coordinate this.
  • Can my dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes! For meals provided by the lodge/evo (breakfasts and one dinner), there will be options available. Gluten Free: It is difficult to avoid gluten in Japan, but it is possible. We recommend that you bring your own soy sauce and some snacks, as you will eat a lot of rice dishes. Being a vegetarian in Japan is easy. We will provide you with a card that will alert restaurants/grocers to your needs and most locations will be accommodating. Halal & Kosher: while there are a limited number of Halal and Kosher restaurants in Japan, there will be many meal options available by avoiding meat. For all dietary restrictions, we recommend that you bring some snacks just in case.
  • Do you require or recommend travel insurance for this trip?
YES! While it is not required, we always recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, theft and/or accidental damage while traveling. We recommend World Nomads.
  • What if I need to change or cancel my trip?
We understand the need for flexibility now more than ever. If you cannot or no longer wish to join your scheduled trip, we are offering the option to forward your deposit to a future evoTrip (at no cost) up to 65 days prior to departure date. However, if you need to cancel, the deposit for the trip is non-refundable and cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee (see policy below). For this reason, we recommend purchasing trip insurance, which will cover the cost of your trip in extenuating circumstances. All cancellations must be submitted to evo in writing, are effective as of the date we receive them according to our internal records, and will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows (amounts are per person and only apply to amount paid after the $1,000 non-refundable deposit amount): Cancellation 60 days or more prior to trip departure - Non-Refundable $1,000 Deposit charged. Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to trip departure - 50% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure - 100% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation policy for custom trips may differ from these terms and will be communicated prior to booking. No refunds will be made if you voluntarily leave a trip for any reason after the trip has begun. The same applies if you leave a trip or cannot fully participate in a trip due to injury or illness. Refunds will be at the discretion of the Company if you are involuntarily forced to leave a trip for any reason. No refunds will be made for any accommodation, transport, sightseeing, meals or services not utilized.
