Revel in this central Hokkaido gem which boasts Japan’s best quality snow, an excellent variety of terrain, and delightfully authentic culture.

Join evoTrip + our Rhythm Rides guides on an epic 8-day skiing and snowboarding adventure to Furano. Spend your days riding Japan’s driest powder, with plentiful options from in-bounds groomers and off-piste runs to heaps of slackcountry – thanks to the resort’s extensive gate system. Your guides will help you access the best stashes, the most incredible food, and the most delightful jaunts to surrounding destinations – from shredding at nearby ski areas like Sahoro or Asahidaki, to soaking in natural hot springs (onsen) with spectacular alpine views.

Please note: This trip is designed and recommended for intermediate and above skiers and snowboarders, meaning you are comfortable on most blue runs, can link turns in powder snow, can make a variety of turn shapes and can traverse & hold speed. We are also offering specific departures for advanced & expert ability levels. See FAQ for more information about ability level requirements.

Itinerary
Itinerary
Please note the itinerary is subject to change as needed.

Optional: Arrive at New Chitose Airport (CTS) the day before the trip starts and check in to the hotel of your choice. We recommend the Air Terminal Hotel as it is comfortable and conveniently located. You'll have the evening to relax before meeting up with the group the next morning. This night is optional - you can stay overnight in Haneda or Narita and fly in on your trip start date, as long as you arrive to CTS by 10:00 am.
  • 1
    Day number 1
Meet your crew for the week in the arrival terminal at CTS by 10:30am, load onto a private coach, and drive 2.5 hours to our Furano accommodations. Once there, we will check in and get settled at Hotel Chalet Burlap Furanui, our home base, for the next 6 nights. Your trip leaders will provide an area overview and what to expect in the week ahead. You’ll have the option to head out for a bit of afternoon riding at Furano Ski Resort, or spend the afternoon exploring town, or simply relaxing back at the lodge. We will enjoy a group welcome dinner around 7pm.
  • 2
    Day number 2
Meet for breakfast at 7:30am to outline the day’s plan and get stoked! Gear up and meet in the lobby by 8:30. For our first day of riding, we’ll head towards the Kitanomine Zone side of Furano. This and the Furano Zone constitute the Furano Resort, our winter playground. You are welcome to stay in the group(s) or explore on your own – unless you plan to go out of any backcountry gates, in which case staying with your guide is required. As with most ski days, we’ll identify a suggested (optional) meeting spot for lunch and discuss the end of day plan for returning to the lodge. After a magical, first full day of riding, you’ll have time to relax back at the hotel or explore Furano, before heading out for dinner that evening.
  • 3
    Day number 3
Depending on weather and group preferences, today could be an excellent day to explore Furano’s gate system. With the expertise of your guides along with the ease of lift access, these zones are available to you whether you’re experienced or new to the backcountry. Break for lunch or push through for a few more laps, topping off your day with some well-deserved après snacks and drinks. Dinner tonight will be a chance for you to choose your own adventure.
  • 4
    Day number 4
Now that you’ve spent a few days riding Furano, we will take a day to chase powder and go check out another ski area. Weather and group preferences will help determine whether we land. Kumui Ski Links and Sahoro are both renowned for top notch snow, excellent tree skiing, and few crowds, while Asahidaki offers fantastic backcountry terrain, accessible by cable car, along with the feeling that you’re far from any kind of resort. Depending on timing, we’ll grab a casual, hearty dinner either on the way back to town or in Furano.
  • 5
    Day number 5
Today we’ll be back at our home resort for a day of exploring Kitanomine and Furano. Your guides will make suggestions based on weather, conditions, and the desires of the group(s). As always, you’re welcome to sit the day out if you’d rather rest your legs, explore town, souvenir shop, or hit up another onsen.
  • 6
    Day number 6
Today’s our last ski day, so we’ll want to make it count! Powdery tree runs, wide open bowls, a drop into the Premium zone (some of Japan’s steepest runs), or long, mellow groomers – it's all possible and our guides will help you close out with some unforgettable runs. Tonight we’ll have a grand finale dinner in town and cheers to the epic week we’ve shared together.
  • 7
    Day number 7
We'll wake up early, pack up, check out, and say goodbye to our friends at the lodge before taking a private coach into Sapporo. Drop our gear off at the Ana Crowne Plaza Sapporo and from there, feel free to choose your adventure. Relax at the hotel or head out to explore the city. The day is yours to experience the sights of Sapporo, the largest city on Japan’s north island. A stroll through Odori Park, a visit to the Sapporo Beer Museum, Ramen Alley, or a jaunt to the neon district of Susukino are just a few of the many possibilities.
  • 8
    Day number 8
Wake up, bid farewell to your guides + fellow riders, and head to New Chitose Airport to head home. If you would like to stay longer or add days to explore more of Japan, we are happy to help coordinate this and may have shipping options available for luggage.

Area Information
Central Hokkaido

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again... central Hokkaido is home to the most amazing snow on the planet. This section of Japan’s northernmost island benefits from Siberian storm systems that pass over the Sea of Japan and dump the lightest powder imaginable, and plenty of it. Featuring a plethora of worthy ski destinations, from Furano to Sahoro, Tomamo to Asahidaki, this region of the country is also refreshingly not westernized, so you can experience few crowds, authentic Japanese culture, and untracked powder for days.

FAQ
FAQ
  • Is my trip guranteed to run?
Yes, all evoTrip Furano departures are confirmed to run for 2024. Please wait to finalize travel plans until you receive a confirmation email from evoTrip.
  • When and how do I meet up with the group?
Arrive to New Chitose Airport (CTS) by 10am on your trip start date (itinerary Day 1). If possible, we do recommend arriving the day before the trip starts so you can get some rest (and get ahead of jet lag) before our adventure. We recommend the Air Terminal Hotel if you do arrive the night before, but there are plenty of other options. Any questions, just let us know!
  • I'm ready to book. What next?
To secure your spot, you can either pay the full amount now or contact Customer Care at 1.866.386.1590 if you prefer to only pay your $1,000 per person deposit. Note that regardless of paying full payment or deposit at time of booking, we will consider $1,000 to be a non-refundable deposit in accordance with our terms and conditions. Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure.
  • What are the accommodations like?
You’ll spend 6 nights in Furano at the Hotel Chalet Burlap Furanui, followed by 1 night at the ANA Crowne Plaza Sapporo. Chalet Burlap Furanui: Centrally located in the town of Furano this refreshingly small hotel offers comfortable guest accommodations and excellent access to restaurants, bars, and shops as well as the Kitanomine Zone of Furano Ski Resort. Comfortable guest rooms boast understated charm, each with its own private bathroom, free Wi-Fi, kettle, and fridge. Common areas include a guest lounge for you to relax with your crew, as well as an on-site onsen to soak after your day on the ski hill. ANA Crowne Plaza Sapporo: This modern, well appointed 4-star hotel is centrally located in Sapporo, walkable to many of the city’s highlights.
  • Can I choose my roommate?
Yes. If you have a roommate request, please let us know. By default, we will place two people of the same gender in a room with two beds.
  • What if I’m a solo traveler? Can I get my own room?
Yes, though single rooms are first come, first served and subject to availability. Please note an additional cost (known as a single supplement) of $600 will apply. Please check in with Customer Care before booking if this will determine your participation.
  • What if I'm a solo traveler that would like a roommate but none are available?
If you are a solo traveler that would like a roommate, we do our best to pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. However, if no roommate option is available and you must be assigned your own room, you will be asked to pay 50% of the single supplement to cover the cost of your room. In this case, as the single supplement is $600, you would be liable for $300 extra. Please note roommates are paired on a first come, first served basis, so the earlier you book the less likely you will be "forced" into a single room!
  • What level of skier/snowboarder do I need to be for this trip?
We recommend this trip for intermediate and above skiers and riders, with select departures (noted below each date) being designated for advanced and expert only skiers and riders. More specifically, the intermediate and above tour dates are best suited to skiers and snowboarders who feel comfortable on most blue runs, and can link turns in powder snow, can make a variety of turn shapes and can traverse, hold speed and are adventurous when skiing and snowboarding the entire mountain. Familiarity with riding off-piste is highly beneficial on this trip. For intermediate and above departures, a mix of skill levels (including advanced and above) are welcome. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions about ability level. There will be excellent slackcountry and lift-accessible backcountry on this trip, but you do not need previous backcountry experience. There will be no touring or need for climbing skins, these experiences will be lift accessible and at most a short boot-pack.
  • Should I tip my guides?
Yes, guide gratuity is not included in your trip package and is recommended if you enjoyed your experience.
  • What is included in my trip?
This trip includes: Transportation by private coach from the Chitose (Sapporo) airport to Furano and back to Sapporo. Accommodations at Chalet Burlap Furanui in Furano, one night stay at the ANA Crowne Plaza Sapporo hotel. All breakfasts and one group dinner. Five and a half days of lift tickets and skiing at an area resort. Support from two trip leaders/guides. Private ground transportation as needed. Recommendations for food / drink and entertainment.
  • What is NOT included in this trip?
Airfare. Most lunches and dinners – we will provide recommendations and help arrange reservations. Taxi rides or any transportation outside of scheduled group travel. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect your flight and belongings as well as cover medical expenses. For travel insurance, we recommend World Nomads. We recommend planning to spend $400-$600 on meals, drinks, entertainment, and gifts.
  • What gear should I bring?
We'll send out a comprehensive gear list prior to your departure. Please let us know if you have any questions about recommended gear for this trip.
  • Are rentals available?
Yes! Our partners at Rhythm in Furano can help take care of all your ski and snowboard rental needs. More information on rental inventory at www.rhythmjapan.com/rentals. We are happy to offer guests 10% off rentals booked for their evoTrip. Please use the following link to make your reservation and receive your discount https://tinyurl.com/Rhythm-Rentals.
  • I am going to come early / stay longer; can I do something with my gear?
Japan has an incredible luggage delivery service (Black Cat) that you can take advantage of for about $50. If you arrive early, you can send your snow gear to the lodge from the airport. If you are staying longer, you can have your luggage delivered to the airport ahead of your arrival. We can give you all the information to coordinate this.
  • Can my dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes! For meals provided by the lodge/evo (breakfasts and one dinner), there will be options available. Gluten Free: It is difficult to avoid gluten in Japan, but it is possible. We recommend that you bring your own soy sauce and some snacks, as you will eat a lot of rice dishes. Being a vegetarian in Japan is easy. We will provide you with a card that will alert restaurants/grocers to your needs and most locations will be accommodating. Halal & Kosher: while there are a limited number of Halal and Kosher restaurants in Japan, there will be many meal options available by avoiding meat. For all dietary restrictions, we recommend that you bring some snacks just in case.
  • Do you require or recommend travel insurance for this trip?
YES! While it is not required, we always recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, theft and/or accidental damage while traveling. We recommend World Nomads.
  • What if I need to change or cancel my trip?
We understand the need for flexibility now more than ever. If you cannot or no longer wish to join your scheduled trip, we are offering the option to forward your deposit to a future evoTrip (at no cost) up to 65 days prior to departure date. However, if you need to cancel, the deposit for the trip is non-refundable and cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee (see policy below). For this reason, we recommend purchasing trip insurance, which will cover the cost of your trip in extenuating circumstances. All cancellations must be submitted to evo in writing, are effective as of the date we receive them according to our internal records, and will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows (amounts are per person and only apply to amount paid after the $1,000 non-refundable deposit amount): Cancellation 60 days or more prior to trip departure - Non-Refundable $1,000 Deposit charged. Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to trip departure - 50% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure - 100% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation policy for custom trips may differ from these terms and will be communicated prior to booking. No refunds will be made if you voluntarily leave a trip for any reason after the trip has begun. The same applies if you leave a trip or cannot fully participate in a trip due to injury or illness. Refunds will be at the discretion of the Company if you are involuntarily forced to leave a trip for any reason. No refunds will be made for any accommodation, transport, sightseeing, meals or services not utilized.
