The MTe is for riders who want the boost of an eMTB without giving up the light, lively feel of a normal mountain bike. With 145mm of rear travel and a 160mm fork, geometry blended from Yeti's SB160 and SB140, it rides more like an analog trail bike that happens to have some extra push uphill. The TQ HPR60 motor adds 60Nm of torque and up to 350 watts of assistance, enough to make climbs easier without making the bike feel like it's fighting you on the way down. If you want assistance for longer days or steeper climbs but still want a bike that feels playful, quick, and connected to the trail, the MTe delivers that balance.
The biggest difference between the MTe and the LTe is how much motor you're carrying, and what that means for weight and power on the trail.
The LTe is Yeti's full-power eMTB, built around a Bosch CX motor with up to 100Nm of torque and 750 watts, paired with an 800Wh battery and 160mm of rear travel with a 170mm fork. It's heavier, but it delivers serious climbing power and is built for riders who want maximum assistance on long days or steep, technical terrain.
The MTe trades some of that power for weight savings and a more natural ride feel. Its lighter TQ motor and smaller battery options mean less boost, but a bike that handles more like a trail bike, especially on the descents. If raw climbing power and all-day range matter most, look at the LTe. If you want an eMTB that disappears beneath you and rides light, the MTe is the better fit.
The core difference is simple: the SB140 is Yeti's non-motorized trail bike, and the MTe is that same trail riding character with a lightweight motor added in.
Both bikes share a similar riding personality, since Yeti built the MTe's geometry as a blend of the SB160 and SB140. That means if you already like how the SB140 rides, the MTe should feel familiar in terms of handling and balance, just with a boost when you want it.
The tradeoff is weight and simplicity. The SB140 is lighter overall and has no motor, battery, or charging to think about. The MTe adds motorized assistance for bigger climbs, longer rides, or days when you want more laps with less fatigue, without straying far from that same playful trail feel.
The TQ HPR60 motor is what lets the MTe feel like a real mountain bike first and an eBike second. It delivers 60Nm of torque and up to 350 watts of power, and it's built to be one of the lightest and quietest motors in its class. On the trail, that means climbing assistance that feels natural rather than abrupt, with power applied smoothly so you don't get that sudden boost some eBikes have. It's also nearly silent, like a whisper on the trail.
All MTe builds share the same frame geometry, Sixfinity suspension design, and full carbon TURQ-level frame. The key differences as you move up are suspension performance, drivetrain type, brake tier, and how much the build is optimized for lighter overall weight.
The C2 build is the entry point, with a mechanical SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission drivetrain, Fox Performance 36 fork and Float X shock, and Maven Bronze brakes. It's a great way into the MTe platform without giving up the frame quality that every build shares.
The T3 X0 AXS build is the sweet spot for a lot of riders, stepping up to wireless SRAM Transmission shifting, Fox Factory-level suspension with the Grip X2 damper, and Maven Silver brakes for stronger, more consistent stopping power.
The top-tier T4 XX AXS build is the lightest in the lineup, pairing SRAM's top-level wireless Transmission with Fox Factory 36 suspension, Maven Ultimate brakes, and a smaller, lighter 290Wh battery for riders who want the MTe at its most weight-optimized.
