Specialized Turbo Levo 4

The Turbo Levo 4 is for riders who want to do more of everything. It has enough power for bigger days, longer climbs, and rowdier descents. 

With 150mm of rear travel, a 160mm Fox fork, and a mixed-wheel setup (29" front, 27.5" rear), the Levo 4 lands squarely in all-mountain territory. It's capable enough to handle aggressive terrain with confidence, efficient enough to make long days manageable, and balanced enough that the motor never feels like it's fighting you.

The Turbo Levo 4 is the most comprehensive overhaul in the model's history, it features a new frame, new motor, new battery system, and new display. The result is a bike that feels more powerful, more refined, and more versatile than the Levo 3.  

The biggest change is the 3.1 motor, which replaces the 2.2 and eliminates the internal belt drive that was the Levo 3's most common point of concern over time. The new motor delivers more torque, runs noticeably quieter, and is more consistent on steep, technical climbs. The Levo 4 also steps up to a larger side-loading battery, increasing range for long days. 

Travel increases slightly too, from 150/140mm on Levo 3, to 160/150mm on the Levo 4. Plus for the first time on the Levo platform, SWAT storage is built into the downtube, so there's room for tools and essentials without reaching for a pack. 

The Turbo Levo 4 and the Turbo Levo R share the same motor, but they're built around very different ideas of what an eMTB should feel like on the trail. 

The Levo 4 is an all-mountain workhorse. With 150mm of rear travel, a 160mm fork, and a mullet wheel setup optimized for balance between climbing and descending, it's designed to handle a wide range of terrain. The Levo R takes the same full-power motor and strips things back: 130mm of rear travel, full 29" wheels, a lighter and shorter-travel chassis, and builds that come in around 2.6kg lighter than comparable Levo 4 models. It's meant to feel faster and more reactive on flowy singletrack, with a more agile, lively character than the Levo 4. 

The Levo 4 is the better choice if you want maximum versatility oj technical climbs, chunky descents, and everything in between. The Levo R rewards riders who prioritize snappy handling and a more connected, analogue-adjacent feel, and are willing to trade some travel and range for that lighter, nimbler ride. 

The GENIE shock is one of the most noticeable upgrades for riders on the Levo 4. It fundamentally changes how the suspension feels underfoot compared to a conventional air spring. 

A standard air spring gets progressively stiffer as it compresses, which means small bumps can feel firm before the suspension really gets moving. GENIE combines a more linear, coil-like spring rate. In practice, this means the rear suspension is much more active and supple over chatter, roots, and repeated small hits. It tracks the ground more consistently and keeps the tire in contact when it matters most. Specialized says GENIE delivers 57% less traction loss time than a conventional air shock, which translates directly to more grip on technical climbs and descents. 

On the Levo 4, this matters in both directions. On technical climbs, better rear wheel traction means fewer moments where the tire breaks loose mid-move. On descents, the more active feel gives you a greater sense of connection to the trail without sacrificing control on bigger impacts.
