2027 Armada Whitewalker 108 Skis Review

Reviewer: Tom Beamish, Retail & Rental Supervisor, evo Village Sports
Location: Sun Peaks, BC
Conditions: Groomed Snow + Chunder

"It's stiffer in the tip than the tail, so it just cuts through the chunder, the elephant snot, the mashed potatoes, whatever it may be."

The Armada Whitewalker 108 Skis trim down the cult-favorite Whitewalker 116 into a tighter, more everyday-friendly package. Same Caruba wood core, same Smear Tech tip and tail, but a 108mm waist that trades a little float for a lot more versatility when the snow isn't bottomless. It's still built for someone who wants a genuine 50/50 backcountry-and-resort ski, not a do-it-all groomer cruiser.

Pros

  • Stiff, damp underfoot feel that resists chatter and flex despite the lightweight build
  • Smear Tech tip and tail keep it predictable and catch-free when the snow gets chunky or variable
  • Narrower stance than the Whitewalker 116 makes for a noticeably better, more natural touring stride
  • Lightweight Caruba core keeps swing weight low, making it a genuinely great backcountry booter ski
  • Still holds real float and playfulness in soft snow, even with the trimmed-down footprint

Cons

  • Built for an active, technically sound skier — i.e. not super forgiving
  • Thinner edges and base save weight but ask for a bit more care around rocks and low-tide conditions

Who Is It For?

This one's for the advanced-to-expert skier who spends real time off the groomed track, whether that's touring, hunting soft snow a few days after a storm, or sending backcountry booters. Armada's own Sharpie put it plainly on the demo day: the 108 broadens the Whitewalker's audience to riders who "still gotta ski some harder snow" but don't need the full 116mm platform. It rewards an active, on-top-of-it stance, so newer or more casual skiers should look toward something with more built-in forgiveness.
