August 2019
  • 1
Arrive at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport by 10am local time on Sunday. If you would like to fly in a day early, we recommend arriving any time on Saturday and staying at the Holiday Inn at the airport. Once we have located our group, we will travel by private coach to Las Trancas. This will be a 5-6 hour bus ride and we will stop for lunch and snack breaks along the way. We'll get into the Rocanegra Mountain Lodge late for dinner and check-in and get a good night’s sleep to prepare for our first day on the hill. You are responsible for lunch and snacks this night.
  • 2
Meet for breakfast at 7:30am to outline the day and get to know the group. Get ready and meet in the lobby by 8:30 for transfer to Nevados de Chillan. Folks are welcome to stay in the group or explore on their own. We'll identify a meeting spot for lunch and discuss the plan to return to the lodge. You'll have time to relax for the evening, order some snacks and jump in the hot tub before a 9pm dinner. You will be responsible for your lunch on this day.
  • 3
Repeat! Enjoy the 3KM Tres Marias run and practice riding the t-bar. Stop for lunch at the cabin at the top of the mountain: we recommend a completo and piscola. If you need something sweet, make sure to pick up alfajores (dulce de leche cookies) at the corner store on the way home from the mountain.
  • 4
Depending on the weather and the group’s needs, we will likely take this or the following day to rest. We will have the option of visiting a local hot spring, going on a short hike and/or enjoying a wine tasting with an area vineyard. If the weather is great, we could also spend five days on the mountain rather than four. You are responsible for your lunch and any wine purchases on this day.
  • 5
Following breakfast, we'll head back to the hill. If you're thirsting for more adventure, take a hike or hire a guide for a cat or heli-skiing adventure (cat skiing will be an addition cost of ~$60, heli skiing is available for $500 for three drops). You are responsible for your lunch on this day.
  • 6
Repeat! If the group is up for an adventure, we can visit the Loco Ocho and the discoteca to celebrate our last night in Las Trancas. You are responsible for your lunch on this day.
  • 7
Eat breakfast, pack up and check out by 9am. As a group, we will take a private coach to Santiago and check in at the Grand Hyatt. You'll have the day and night to explore Santiago. We will make a group dinner reservation and have recommendations, including a visit to the Museo de las Memoria y los Derechos Humanos, wander through Barrio Bella Vista, hike up San Cristóbal Hill and dance until the sun rises.

FAQ
FAQ
  • Are departures guaranteed?
No, please wait to make travel arrangements and book flights until you have received confirmation from evoTrip that your departure has been confirmed.
  • Can I choose my roommate?
Yes. If you have a roommate request, please let us know. By default, we will place two people per room, but we may have the ability to place 3 or 4 together as well.
  • Can I book a private room?
Yes. Single occupancy rooms may be available at an additional cost of $600. Please contact us if you are interested.
  • I am a beginner / intermediate / advanced level of skier / snowboarder. Will there be terrain for me?
Yes. All levels of skiers and snowboarders are welcome. You don’t need to be an advanced or expert skier or snowboarder to have a good time on this trip. However, if you are an expert you won’t be disappointed because there is terrain for everyone. Ski the resort, the parks or if the conditions are right there are plentiful backcountry options. Spend time with the group or do your own thing. For the Aug 18-25 women's telemark camp, we recommend an intermediate to advanced level of skiing, with previous tele experience.
  • Are rentals available or do I need to bring my own equipment?
We recommend that you bring your own gear. There are rentals available at a local snow shop and at the mountain, unfortunately there is not a list of rental equipment available and we cannot guarantee that you will have access to specific sizes or brands. Avalanche safety equipment is required for backcountry riding and heliskiing, and rentals are available at an additional cost (approximately $15/day).
  • Can I (or my partner) come even if I don’t ski or snowboard?
Yes. The primary activity on these trips is skiing or snowboarding; however, there may be options if you or your loved one does not currently participate. There is an English-speaking ski school at Nevados de Chillan; you can sign up for lessons and rentals at an additional cost (we can help book this). For folks not interested in learning to ski / snowboard, there are limited opportunities for other activities and the location is beautiful and relaxing. If they would still like to come, we can provide an additional $250 discount. We may be able to help coordinate other activities, such as visits to a spa, yoga or snow shoeing.
  • Will we be able to wash our clothes?
Yes. Rocanegra can provide laundry services for a small fee.
  • I am going to come early / stay longer; can I do something with my gear?
There are storage lockers available at the airport, or the hotel in Santiago may be able to hold luggage for limited periods. We are happy to help coordinate this.
  • I am gluten-free / vegetarian / halal/kosher… will there be food options available for me?
Yes, please provide advance notice of any dietary restrictions. For meals provided by the lodge/evo (breakfasts and dinners), there will be options available for both. It will be easy to avoid gluten. Being a vegetarian in Chile is easy, but not necessarily delicious. We do recommend that you bring snacks along just in case. While there are no Halal restaurants in Las Trancas, there will be many meal options available by avoiding meat. Similarly, while there are no Kosher restaurants in Las Trancas, there will be many meal options available by avoiding meat. We do recommend that you bring some snacks just in case.
  • What if I need to cancel?
The deposit for the trip is non-refundable and cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee (see policy below). For this reason, we recommend you consider purchasing travelers insurance, which will cover the cost of your trip in extenuating circumstances. - All cancellations must be submitted to the Company in writing, are effective as of the date we receive them according to our internal records, and will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows (amounts are per person and only apply to amount paid after the non-refundable deposit amount): - Cancellation 60 days or more prior to trip departure - Non-Refundable Deposit - Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to trip departure - 50% of total booking cost - Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure - 100% of total booking cost - Cancellation policy for custom trips may differ from these terms and will be communicated prior to booking - No refunds will be made if you voluntarily leave a trip for any reason after the trip has begun. The same applies if you leave a trip or cannot fully participate in a trip due to injury or illness. Refunds will be at the discretion of the Company if you are involuntarily forced to leave a trip for any reason. No refunds will be made for any accommodation, transport, sightseeing, meals or services not utilized.
  • Can I just pay the full amount now? // When is the full amount due?
Yes. You can pay the full amount now, but we will consider $1,000 to be a non-refundable deposit in accordance with the contract. The full payment is due 60 days prior to departure.
  • When and how do I meet up with the group?
You are responsible for booking your own travel and you must arrive at the Santiago airport by 10:00 am on the first day of your trip. We will be waiting with an evo sign in the terminal just outside of customs.
  • I'm interested in the Aug 18-25 Women's Telemark Camp. What else do I need to know?
Awesome! We recommend an intermediate to advanced level of skiing for this camp, with previous tele experience.Once you book your trip on evo.com and call evo to apply payment, we'll connect you to our partner and one of your trip leaders, Karen Reader. Karen will work with you personally to provide all pre-trip documentation and other important details about the camp.

A special group of individuals at times come together. Chile was one of these times. It's difficult to describe, such different people with diverse backgrounds. The level of conscience that ran through it all amazed me and others as well.

I thought this trip was awesome. It was my first time on a trip like this, and it blew all my expectations out of the water.
Derek
evoTrip 2015
It was obvious from the start of the trip that our local guides were doing everything within their power to ensure that our questions were answered and that we had a great time.
Trent
evoTrip 2016
evo really provides a welcoming environment for everybody from the youngest to the oldest with the huge age gap between the two. It really opened up the door for travelling alone and was a great way to get out and ride with a group of awesome people

Itinerary: Women's Telemark & Alpine Ski Camp with Karen Reader & Patti Banks
8 Days: August 18 - 25, 2019
  • 1
August 18 This week-long event is dedicated to giving women an opportunity to have a travel experience that includes working on their skiing with the guidance of expert coaching as well as meet and play with others who share the same objectives.

Arrive at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport by 10am local time on Sunday. If you would like to fly in a day early, we recommend arriving any time on Saturday and staying at the Holiday Inn at the airport. Once we have everyone, we will travel by private coach to Las Trancas.
  • 2
August 19 Meet for breakfast at 7:30am to outline the day. Get ready and meet in the lobby by 8:30 for transfer to Nevados de Chillan for a full-day of ski coaching. We will stay fairly close together as a large group for a few warm-up runs and then at some point split the group based on goals and objectives for the day as well as pace. This is a low-key day getting our skis back under us, taking time to warm up after a few days of travel and considering efficiency as we head into a full week of skiing. We will spend the day exploring the mountain, working on skiing at an appropriate intensity level and pacing ourselves for the days ahead. You are responsible for your own lunches all week. Returning back to the lodge by late afternoon, you'll have time to relax for the evening, order some snacks and jump in the hot tub before a 9pm dinner.
  • 3
August 20 Repeat! Today and the next few will be similar in terms of the ski coaching and instruction opportunities. We will head up with the plan to ski all day in fluid groups formed daily on energy level, objectives, conditions and vibe. This day may be a day to work on fundamentals for some people, or others may just choose to ski in a group and see as much terrain as possible. If you need something sweet, we will make a stop to pick up alfajores (dulce de leche cookies) at the corner store on the way home from the mountain!
  • 4
August 21 Following breakfast, we'll head back to the hill to enjoy another day of bell to bell skiing (haha)! This will be considered a day of consolidating desired changes in your skiing and playing with terrain… Depending on the weather and the group’s needs, this day may be focused on relaxed coached mileage (you may be tired of our voices), or we could be sessioning powder!!
  • 5
August 22 Today will be a day without coaching and instruction! There are many options for today which include activities that you can book and pay for (guided backcountry…cat skiing, heli-skiing, ski-area skiing), or take the option of just enjoying the beautiful lodge, visiting a local hot spring, going on a short hike and/or enjoying a wine tasting with an area vineyard. You are responsible for planning this day and all expenses associated with it – breakfast and dinner are included as always if you are at the lodge during meal times.
  • 6
August 23 This will be our final day of skiing together! Depending on what people got up to on their ‘rest’ day, the group will likely be pretty diverse in terms of personal expectations for the day. We will group at breakfast before heading up to the ski area and get a sense of how people want to spend this final day and go from there. As usual, we will be offering full-on pro ski coaching to whom-ever is up for it!
  • 7
August 24 Travel to Santiago at 9am! As a group, we will take a private coach to Santiago and check in at our hotel today. You'll have the afternoon and evening to explore Santiago. We will make a group dinner reservation and have recommendations, including a visit to the Museo de las Memoria y los Derechos Humanos, wander through Barrio Bella Vista, hike up San Cristóbal Hill and dance until the sun rises. You are responsible for lunch and dinner today.
  • 8
August 25 Spend your last morning exploring Santiago. We will help coordinate transportation back to the airport via bus or train for those heading home. You are responsible for your breakfast and any snacks, as well as the cost of transportation around the city or to the airport on this day.
Trip Package Includes
  • Seven nights in Chile (6 at Rocanegra Mountain Lodge, 1 night at 4-star centrally located Santiago hotel) in a double room.
  • Six breakfasts and dinners at Rocanegra Mountain Lodage
  • Daily instruction with PSIA Fully Certified female coaches, small groups, personalized coaching, and a relaxed vibe with other women (telemark and alpine both welcome)
  • Airport transfer by private coach to and from Santiago Airport - Las Trancas
  • Four days of transfers between RocaNegra Lodge and Nevados de Chillan
  • Four lift tickets at Nevados de Chillan

  • Travel insurance (we recommend World Nomads)
  • Daily lunches, alcoholic beverages, dinner in Santiago
