Itinerary
Itinerary
August 2024
  • 1
    Day number 1
Arrive at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport by 10am local time on Sunday. If you would like to fly in a day early, we recommend arriving any time on Saturday and staying at the Holiday Inn at the airport. Once we have located our group, we will travel by private coach to Las Trancas. This will be a 5-6 hour bus ride and we will stop for lunch and snack breaks along the way. We'll get into the Rocanegra Mountain Lodge late for dinner and check-in and get a good night’s sleep to prepare for our first day on the hill. You are responsible for lunch and snacks this night.
  • 2
    Day number 2
Meet for breakfast at 7:30am to outline the day and get to know the group. Get ready and meet in the lobby by 8:30 for transfer to Nevados de Chillan. Folks are welcome to stay in the group or explore on their own. We'll identify a meeting spot for lunch and discuss the plan to return to the lodge. You'll have time to relax for the evening, order some snacks and jump in the hot tub before a 9pm dinner. You will be responsible for your lunch on this day.
  • 3
    Day number 3
Repeat! Enjoy the 3KM Tres Marias run and practice riding the t-bar. Stop for lunch at the cabin at the top of the mountain: we recommend a completo and piscola. If you need something sweet, make sure to pick up alfajores (dulce de leche cookies) at the corner store on the way home from the mountain.
  • 4
    Day number 4
Depending on the weather and the group’s needs, we will likely take this or the following day to rest. We will have the option of visiting a local hot spring, going on a short hike and/or enjoying a wine tasting with an area vineyard. If the weather is great, we could also spend five days on the mountain rather than four. You are responsible for your lunch and any wine purchases on this day.
  • 5
    Day number 5
Following breakfast, we'll head back to the hill. Hit your favorite zones from the week again or explore more of the freeride zones. Cat-skiing or heli-skiing may be available at an additional expense, but is very dependent on weather and availability. These add-ons may not be available for all departures, but evoTrip will contact guests to confirm pre-trip!
  • 6
    Day number 6
Repeat! You are responsible for your lunch on this day.
  • 7
    Day number 7
Eat breakfast, pack up and check out by 9am. As a group, we will take a private coach to Santiago and check in at Hotel Plaza San Francisco. You'll have the day and night to explore Santiago. We will make a group dinner reservation and have recommendations, including a visit to the Museo de las Memoria y los Derechos Humanos, wander through Barrio Bella Vista, hike up San Cristóbal Hill and dance until the sun rises.
  • 8
    Day number 8
Spend your last morning exploring Santiago. We will help coordinate transportation back to the airport via bus or train for those heading home. Breakfast at the hotel is included, but you are responsible for any snacks, as well as the cost of transportation around the city or to the airport on this day.

FAQ
FAQ
  • Is my trip guaranteed?
No, as each trip requires a minimum number of guests in order to run, please wait to make travel arrangements and book flights until you have received confirmation from evoTrip that your departure has been confirmed.
  • Can I choose my roommate?
Yes. If you have a roommate request, please let us know. By default, we will place two people of the same gender in a room with two beds.
  • What if I'm a solo traveler that would like a roommate but none are available?
If you are a solo traveler that would like a roommate, we do our best to pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. However, if no roommate option is available and you must be assigned your own room, you will be asked to pay 50% of the single supplement to cover the cost of your room. In this case, as the single supplement is $600, you would be liable for $300 extra. Please note roommates are paired on a first come, first served basis, so the earlier you book the less likely you will be "forced" into a single room!
  • When and how do I meet up with the group?
You are responsible for booking your own travel and you must arrive at the Santiago airport by 10:00 am on the first day of your trip. We will be waiting with an evo sign in the terminal just outside of customs.
  • Can I book a private room?
Yes. Single occupancy rooms may be available at an additional cost of $600. Please contact us if you are interested and note that single rooms are subject to availability, and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
  • I am a beginner / intermediate / advanced level of skier / snowboarder. Will there be terrain for me?
We recommend this trip for intermediate and above skiers and riders. More specifically, this tour is best suited to skiers and snowboarders who can link turns in powder snow, can make a variety of turn shapes and can traverse, hold speed and are adventurous when skiing and snowboarding the entire mountain. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions about ability level.
  • Are rentals available or do I need to bring my own equipment?
We recommend that you bring your own gear. There are rentals available at a local snow shop and at the mountain, unfortunately there is not a list of rental equipment available and we cannot guarantee that you will have access to specific sizes or brands. Avalanche safety equipment is required for backcountry riding and heliskiing, and rentals are available at an additional cost (approximately $15/day).
  • Can I (or my partner) come even if I don’t ski or snowboard?
Yes. The primary activity on these trips is skiing or snowboarding; however, there may be options if you or your loved one does not currently participate. There is an English-speaking ski school at Nevados de Chillan; you can sign up for lessons and rentals at an additional cost (we can help book this). For folks not interested in learning to ski / snowboard, there are limited opportunities for other activities and the location is beautiful and relaxing. If they would still like to come, we can provide an additional $250 discount. We may be able to help coordinate other activities, such as visits to a spa, yoga or snow shoeing.
  • Will we be able to wash our clothes?
Yes. Rocanegra can provide laundry services for a small fee.
  • I am going to come early / stay longer; can I do something with my gear?
There are storage lockers available at the airport, or the hotel in Santiago may be able to hold luggage for limited periods. We are happy to help coordinate this.
  • Can my dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes, please provide advance notice of any dietary restrictions. For meals provided by the lodge/evo (breakfasts and dinners), there will be options available for both. It will be easy to avoid gluten. Being a vegetarian in Chile is easy, but not necessarily delicious. We do recommend that you bring snacks along just in case. While there are no Halal restaurants in Las Trancas, there will be many meal options available by avoiding meat. Similarly, while there are no Kosher restaurants in Las Trancas, there will be many meal options available by avoiding meat. We do recommend that you bring some snacks just in case.
  • I'm ready to book. What next?
To secure your spot, you can either pay the full amount now or contact Customer Care at 1.866.386.1590 if you prefer to only pay your $1,000 per person deposit. Note that regardless of paying full payment or deposit at time of booking, we will consider $1,000 to be a non-refundable deposit in accordance with our terms and conditions. Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure.
  • What if I need to change or cancel my trip?
We understand the need for flexibility now more than ever. If you cannot or no longer wish to join your scheduled trip, we are offering the option to forward your deposit to a future evoTrip (at no cost) up to 65 days prior to departure date. However, if you need to cancel, the deposit for the trip is non-refundable and cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee (see policy below). For this reason, we recommend purchasing travelers insurance, which will cover the cost of your trip in extenuating circumstances. All cancellations must be submitted to evo in writing, are effective as of the date we receive them according to our internal records, and will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows (amounts are per person and only apply to amount paid after the $1,000 non-refundable deposit amount): Cancellation 60 days or more prior to trip departure - Non-Refundable $1,000 Deposit charged. Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to trip departure - 50% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure - 100% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation policy for custom trips may differ from these terms and will be communicated prior to booking. No refunds will be made if you voluntarily leave a trip for any reason after the trip has begun. The same applies if you leave a trip or cannot fully participate in a trip due to injury or illness. Refunds will be at the discretion of the Company if you are involuntarily forced to leave a trip for any reason. No refunds will be made for any accommodation, transport, sightseeing, meals or services not utilized.
  • Should I purchase travel insurance?
YES! While it is not required, we always recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, theft and/or accidental damage while traveling. We recommend World Nomads.

Seriously everything I dreamed of for a bucket list trip. It was well planned, insane lodge, heli skiing and resort. The guides were pretty good as well. Honestly Dan and Jamie made it phenomenal. Went knowing no one and feel like I've got new friends for life.

A special group of individuals at times come together. Chile was one of these times. It's difficult to describe, such different people with diverse backgrounds. The level of conscience that ran through it all amazed me and others as well.

It was obvious from the start of the trip that our local guides were doing everything within their power to ensure that our questions were answered and that we had a great time.
Trent

evo really provides a welcoming environment for everybody from the youngest to the oldest with the huge age gap between the two. It really opened up the door for travelling alone and was a great way to get out and ride with a group of awesome people
