FAQ
FAQ
  • Who can drive?
All drivers must possess a drivers license valid for the entire rental period, as well as a major credit card and carry full insurance. An international drivers license is required for all foreign tourists. The minimum age to rent the vehicles is 25. All drivers and their licenses must be present at the time of vehicle pickup (other arrangements can be made), and drivers other than the individuals listed on the rental agreement are not authorized to drive the vehicle.
  • Are there mileage or driving restrictions?
The rental rate includes 100 miles of travel per day. Travel above 100 per day is subject to a charge of $.30 cents per mile. Extra mileage is calculated and paid for after the van is returned. Driving in ‘off-road’ areas is prohibited. Please note this does not include state maintained gravel or dirt roads. Renter is responsible for all damages to vehicle, tires, towing charges and other expenses as a result of a breakdown associated with operating in off road areas. The entire security deposit will be forfeited by lessee if there is evidence of travel to restricted areas.
  • What if something goes wrong?
We require that you contact us immediately and let us know if you experience a mechanical breakdown or are involved in an accident. We will do our best to assist you with getting the vehicle repaired in a timely manner. Failure to contact us and to continue on your journey will result in a forfeit of your security deposit. Windshield and tire damage or replacement is the responsibility of the renter. All prior damage must be noted at the time of pick-up. Damage will be taken out of the security deposit. We reserve the right to charge the renter for any fines or infractions such as speeding fines, traffic infringements, parking fees, road toll fines or any unpaid camping fees or fines. An additional $50 fee will be charged per fine to cover the cost of processing.
  • Can we bring our pet(s)?

August 19 There are dozens of places to see the rare cosmic event, from big music festivals to little state parks. While most reserved camping spots have been booked already, there are plenty of first-come, first-served sites in the path. Consider grabbing your spot for the weekend and staying put.
  • 3
August 20 This being Oregon, there’s plenty of public land in the path of the eclipse, including eight national forests, more than 50 state park sites, one national monument and small areas run by the Bureau of Land Management – that’s not including many city and county parks, too.
  • 4
August 21 Today is the day! The sun will enter total eclipse for about two minutes beginning shortly after 10 am (depending on your exact location). Since so many folks will be on the roads this day, you may want to stay put after the event.
  • 5

August 29 If you're seeking a mountain bike adventure, we'll have the rack on the van! Just an hour's drive east, Sandy Ridge has a full progression of trails from beginner and intermediate flow trails to expert downhill trails. The expert trails have some epic exposure and gnarliness that will challenge even the most advanced riders. In general, the trails climb on roads and descend on singletrack. Sandy Ridge is a must-ride area on an Oregon mountain biking road trip.
  • 3
August 30 For your next stop, check out the idyllic town of Hood River. It has expanded in recent years but the town is broken up into three sections: Waterfront, Downtown and The Heights. You will have amazing Columbia Gorge, orchards, bluffs and double mountain (Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood) views. This place is magical.
  • 4
August 31 From Hood River, it's a three hour drive to Bend. The mountain bike trails near Bend are a ton of fun, with great variety and lots of options. From the downhill mountain bike trails at Mt. Bachelor to the cross country trails at Phil’s, Bend mountain bikers are spoiled with high quality riding. Big pines, sweeping trails, and endless flow are hallmarks of Phil’s, while Mt. Bachelor’s downhill trails offer riding high on the volcanic rock and trails at the ski area.

September 1 A few hours south, Ashland's weather is more akin to northern California than the wet and lush Cascade Mountains, and mile after mile of trails. Many of these great trails drop down from Mt. Ashland and run all the way back into town. These trails can be accessed by climbing on forest roads, or shuttling. The sheer abundance and vertical drop of the mountain bike trails in Ashland give areas like Downieville and Oakridge a serious run for their money.
  • 6
September 2 From Ashland, head northwest. Between Eugene and Corvallis, there is a fun little mountain bike trail system called Alsea Falls, with 17 miles of trail, about an hour drive from either city. There are a handful of intermediate flowy trails here that are pretty fun and ride nicely in a 10 mile loop.
  • 7
September 3 On your way back to Portland, head towards the Coast. Take your time driving along the 101 to see lighthouses, bluffs, dunes and stop to camp at the beach. If you're up for a surf, be sure to bring your wet-suit because while the weather is warm, the water is not.
  • 8
September 4 You'll end your trip back where you started. Pack up on your last morning and head back to the Portland store. You'll drop off the van between noon-1pm, just in time to grab lunch at one of Portland's famous food trucks.
