Itinerary
Itinerary
  • 1
    Day number 1
We recommend staying in Pemberton or Whistler the evening prior to departure to be well-rested for the first day. Arrive in your ski gear at Pemberton Airport at 10:30am ready for adventure. We will fly into McGillivray Pass Lodge, receive a safety briefing and head out for the first tour. After 3-4 hours of skiing we'll head back to the lodge to unwind and get to know the group.
  • 2
    Day number 2
Wake up and eat breakfast together at 7:30 am. Pack your lunch and head out between 8:30 - 9:15 am for a full day of skiing or split boarding. Whitecap Mountain Guides will make suggestions and describe touring options to us to contribute to decisions about what is both achievable, and appropriate. Enjoy a hot shower or sauna before dinner, or just hit the sofa. Later we'll enjoy a freshly prepared family-style meal before bed time.
  • 3
    Day number 3
Repeat! Head out with your group and guides for another awesome day. Whitecap Alpine will help pair you with a group that matches your touring style and ability. Generally more moderately paced groups will ski/ride up to 1000m / 3000ft / day, whereas the 'aggressively paced' groups will ski up to 3000m / 10,000ft /day.
  • 4
    Day number 4
Repeat! Enjoy your last day of riding. The long days and a quickly stabilizing snowpack allows for the widest range of terrain options, summits, and steep descents. More convective snowfall brings some of the best quality snow of the season, and we will take full advantage. On our final night, we'll enjoy a special celebration with the group before preparing to head back home.
  • 5
    Day number 5
Rise and shine for your final breakfast. The first helicopter will depart at 9 am to take our group back to Pemberton and head home. It will take about 2 hours to travel back to Vancouver, so don't schedule any flights before 1pm.

  • How does Whitecap pair groups? And what ability level can I be?
Groups are managed based on individual desires, interests, and abilities. They generally run two main groups and at times up to three based on the number of guests are interested in skiing and their ability levels. There is usually one stronger group, one moderate paced group and at times a third group focused on a specific speed, which could be ultra-fast or completely mellow. We are more than happy to cater to novice backcountry users all the way up to the hammerheads. We generally have two guides and one assistant, at times we have three guides and one assistant. Available dates are open to all genders. evo and Whitecap will share group information including, gender, ability level and age to help you better self-select from the dates available.
  • Who are the guides?
Whitecap guides are all UIGM /ACMG certified and are at the top of their class in, skiing, snowboarding and navigating the backcountry. Their guides practice the most up-to-date methods of snow evaluation and rescue techniques.
  • How will rooming be managed?
All guests will have private accommodations with their social pods.
  • I am a beginner / intermediate / advanced level of backcountry skier / snowboarder. Will there be terrain for me?
In short, yes. evo and Whitecap will help place you in a group with similar abilities and all groups touring out of the lodge will be fully guided, both to make the best use of the terrain and for your own safety. If that sounds tame, rest assured it’s not – experts will find plenty to test their ability, while newcomers to touring won’t feel hopelessly out of their element. Trust your guides to find the best snow on any given day – that can be anything from a glorious open summit in full sun to awesome lower elevation tree skiing if it’s storming. We recommend this trip to guests with some backcountry touring or side-country experience and at least a moderate physical fitness level. Every day at Whitecap is different. An ‘easy day’ will include 1-2 runs close to home (450-700m/1500-2000 ft) followed by lunch at the lodge, or a cross-country ski in the valley. A ‘large day’ includes various high alpine circuits up to 1500-3000m/6000-10,000 ft of skiing and snowboarding, with lunch on the go.
  • Are rentals available or do I need to bring my own equipment?
Yes, G3 rental gear is available and can be rented directly through Whitecap Alpine. Please inquire with evo for pricing. Avalanche safety equipment is required for backcountry riding and rentals are also available upon request.
  • How do I get there?
We suggest staying in either Whistler or Pemberton in order to allow time to arrive at the Pemberton Airport for your Heli debriefing. After that you will need to make your way to the Heli staging area in D'Arcy on Anderson Lake, about 45 minutes from Pemberton Airport. To get to the airport: follow signs along the highway for direction. The main routes to Pemberton are from Vancouver or from Kamloops and the Interior (we will provide clear directions upon booking). Driving Times: Vancouver – 2.5 hrs; Whistler – 30 min; Seattle – 4.5 hrs; Kamloops – 4 hrs. After meeting at the airport guests will get directions to the staging area. Please be aware that taxis are not available in the area so please bring your own vehicle or rent a car.

Testimonials
The guides at Whitecap are incredible. It snowed over 50cm while we were there and the guides knew exactly where to take us for amazing skiing that was safe and accessible. Hot meals, comfortable accommodations, and a warm shower after a day of hard skiing… can’t get much better than that.
