Comments about The North Face ThermoBall Vest:
Winter in the Rockies, or August in Malawi, this is my first and foremost layer.
Super comfy it provides just enough warm and ventilation to be useful if the night gets cool or you're working up a sweat in -5°C.
I have also had problems with rain coats. I choose rain coats with no insulation as to maximize the versatility and since I'm an avid backpacker I don't get bomb proof jackets so I have some leaking. This vest provides just enough warmth for those cold rain showers and I don't have to worry about it getting wet and losing all of its warmth.
Way to go North Face!
