I absolutely love this bag. I ordered one grey, then got another orange. The orange really looks fantastic!

I was surprised how light they are – they are only 1 pound heavier than the 30inch thunder.

This is the largest roller bag I could find online, and it is superb. I used 2 of these to move to a foreign country. In each bag I could easily fit suits, pants, shirts, ties, winter jackets, a good amount of casual clothes, several pairs of shoes in each, towels, toiletries, hangars, electronics, as well as bundles of documents which I put into the cover flaps. And there was still room for more.

Each bag has 2 internal straps that wrap around from the bottom base inside, to help compress and secure the contents before closing the bag.

It is easy to go over the weight limit with these bags, but I did not have much choice since I was moving all my stuff and wanted to only take 2 bags to minimize the # of pieces I had to carry. One bag ended up weighing about 54 pounds, and the other was at 63 pounds. Some airlines have max checked bag weight of 50 or 70 pounds before they charge fees, but some have max 25 pounds; depending on business/economy class etc.

The dimensions are over 62 inches, but I have never seen anyone measuring - on this trip, or any of my other trips with large bags over the past few years.

The bag is very well made. Handles are very sturdy, and zippers are smooth. The top of the cover overlaps against the zipper line which helps protects the zipper line (i.e. from water seeping in).

The diagonal handles at the top are great when rolling this bag so that the edges of the bag don't rub into your hip as you roll it.

The wheels are also very tough and look like they will last a long time.

Overall I am extremely pleased with the Rolling Thunder 36inch. It is a superb bag for hauling a lot of gear and is very durable. I am happy it has a lifetime warranty as well.

Purchased this luggage at an REI store in Oct 2014, and by Mar 2015 the bottom front portion of this luggage had two ripped holes. This is my third Rolling Thunder Luggage, but the first two were earlier generation models. Same occurred, as well as the wheels broke off or fell apart. Unfortunately, this is the only luggage that provides me with the ideal cubic space that I need. I am currently looking at other models and brands that would provide a much sturdier luggage.

Definitely, NOT designed for rugged use, or for frequent global travelers, especially military or similar careers

Comments about The North Face Rolling Thunder Bag - 36":

My first surf trip to Jefferies Bay the bag got a hole in hit and the plastic guard rails broke off. I bought a second bag hoping that wouldn't happen again but it did! Same type of damage. I'm a huge north face fan and I have tons of north face stuff. I'll I can figure is they are new to making bags like this.

      The Orange Beast

Comments about The North Face Rolling Thunder Bag - 36":

I was able to fit two sleeping bags, two day packs, three pairs of shoes and two weeks of clothes in this bag on a trip to New Zealand. It rolls smoothly and can be stood up on end. Handles at both ends allow two people to carry it if needed. Its bold orange color can't be missed on airport baggage carousels.

Comments about The North Face Rolling Thunder Bag - 36":

I had high hopes for this bag and own several of the others. But the extra large bag does NOT have a telescoping handle and it is useless without one. Instead of a telescoping handle the bag has a strap that the "designers" expect you to grasp as you try to maneuver the bag (impossible and frustrating). It is too bad because it could have been a great product.

Comments about The North Face Rolling Thunder Bag - 36":

Spent big money on this bag - loved the look and the materials. Although was massively heavy when full. Didn't mind spending the money as expected it to last for years. Unfortunately after 3 International trips (and nothing to strenuous) the metal bracing went straight through the fabric. Un-repairable. Despite taking photos had to courier it back. Could't replace in the time before I was due to depart again - so got a full refund BUT was highly disappointed as I really like the brand. Would love to try again - maybe it was a one off..but reluctant in case happens again... have moved to Tatonka which doesn't look so good - but seems much stronger.

You can't fill the bag completely. I haven't been able to find enough stuff to fill it, even on a 8 day trip out west! I travel extensively for work and spend over 175 nights a year in hotels. After having several bags not hold up over the years I invested in The North Face products and couldn't be happier. This bag is perfect...plenty of space which lets you pack more than you'd expect, great looks, durable material, water resistant, and easy to handle. The warranty is second to none in the business and I am now a customer for life!!

I used this bag for a 10-day trip to South America, and it was a great choice. Very durable and not overly large, unlike those huge hiking backpacks everybody has (which you can also only load/unload through the top, so you have to remove all your stuff if you want to reach something at the bottom). I used vacuum bags to pack everything and even had space left over. The backpack straps are convenient for when you want to wear and not carry the bag. My only complaints: the straps are removable and therefore sometimes become detached when you're trying to put the bag on. There is also no shoulder strap included, so you cannot sling the bag over your shoulder as you would a regular duffel. But I used a removable strap from an older bag and it worked fine.

I recommend your products too many friends and family for I truly believe that Northface cares about their consumers .
