Urban Roots is a timely documentary about a group of dedicated Detroiters who work tirelessly to fulfill their vision of moving towards a more sustainable future. The people of Detroit have taken on the task of locally growing organic, sustainable farmed food in a city where the people are cut off from real, fresh food and limited to fast food chains, mini-marts, and gas station processed food. Obey Awareness teamed up with Urban Roots and Tree Media to raise money and call for action to create farms in schools using the land previously covered in asphalt to grow food and educate high school students on the practices of planting, composting and water conservation.
