I wear these motorcycle riding. Living in the Las Vegas desert it's practically all sun all the time. Good shades are important here. What I needed were polarized glasses that also fit my face. Once the sun gets low out here the street itself produces glare and to ride safely it must be blocked. Fit was also important to help protect my eyes from the wind. These glasses feel and look quality. They sit well on my face, contour to my face and since I'm not flexing the frame, the lenses never pop out! Well worth the money.

I really do like everything about these glasses except for the small detail that they fall apart and the ear pieces scratch the inside of the lenses. I actually did love them, while I could still see out of them. I just heard about Smith's lifetime warranty, so we'll see if they stand behind this product. If they do replace/repair the glasses or if they could fix that one design flaw, these would be awesome glasses. Until I see how they handle the warranty issue, I honestly can't recommend these glasses. That being said, there are a lot of pros for these glasses, and I really do want to like/recommend them. Pros: The size and shape of the lenses are exactly what I was looking for. I particularly like that they wrap around the face slightly, so they provide good coverage from the sides - all of this without being too big or bug eyed. They initially feel like a quality pair of glasses, and the clarity of the polarized lenses is amazing.

Love the look, hate the quality!

By

from Lena, MS 39094, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I've had a really bad time with my lens falling out of these. I've already sent them back once for repair and now I'm sending them back again and hoping they can be replaced with a different style even though this look is my favorite.

Dropped the ball on this one...

By

from Minnesota

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I Bought these glasses for my wife, she loved my Serpicos but they were way too big for her. The slims fit her great but They JUST FELL APART. Screws loosen, posts bend and the biggest problem is that the earpieces make contact with the inside of the lens and scratch the heck out of it. Major design flaw. For 119$ glasses they seem kind of pathetic. I'll never buy plastic lens glasses again and Smith doesn't offer a glass lens aviator. Bummer.

Extremely Misleading Pictures

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

Anyone who buys these be warned - in person they look absolutely nothing like the pictures on the site. I first bought Matte black/gold mirrored. They are yellow - and definitely not mirrored, the eyes of the wearer are clearly visible in all light levels, indoors, outdoors, facing sun, away from sun. The picture is very misleading as you can see from my uploaded picture. Even my picture of these are a bit misleading. They are not mirrored and look yellow not gold. It is more obvious when they are on your face. I returned and bought silver/polarized platinum, thinking they would be more mirrored or at least i'd like them better (on amazon these same glasses are called "platinum polarized polycarbonate." I thought they had sent me the wrong ones because the lenses are black. They sent me a replacement of the correct ones. It was the same thing - the lenses are black, as shown in the picture I uploaded. There is no mirror, no platinum, no silver. Black lenses. I really wish the platinum/silver/ mirror or anything like it existed, as the fit and size and feel of these are great. Even the polarization seems at least adequate. But they do not have the look I want or the look portrayed on the site. It really is laughable how much different both these models are in real life vs the computer generated pictures they post on this site. If they looked like the site claimed they'd get 5 stars.

Lenses pop out constantly!

By

from Corpus Christi, TX

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I have been a loyal Smith customer for 14 years. All of my previous sunglasses have been awesome, especially for a smaller face. I wanted to love the Serpico Slim's but after the first lens popped out, they constantly pop out and will not stay intact. I never know when a lens is going to come out and even from the slightest touch. It's very embarrassing. I'm a little skeptical about the quality of Smith products now.

Great style, great fit but ...

By

from Chestnut Hill, Newton, MA, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

Unfortunately, I have had the same experience as others have shared in their reviews. The lenses pop out easily which leads to scratches. Another minor but annoying design flaw I noticed, when folding the glasses the ends touch the lenses and cause scratching, especially when stored in the bag provided. A real pity as the design, fit and lens quality are pretty nice.

Great Fit & Style â€"" Poor Product Design

By

from Park City, UT, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I also want to love these glasses, but as other reviewers have stated, the quality is really poor. I bought mine last year and when they arrived, the lenses were already scratched. After wearing them a few times, they started getting really loose and when I put them on they were all distorted. Yes, after tightening them they were great, but you literally have to tighten them after every use. Then the screw fell out completely and luckily I was able to find it and retighten. Just not a super well designed product. I do love the look of them and want another pair in a different color. Hoping a new pair means a better product!

Great fit, flimsy product.

By

from Wisconsin

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

The fit of this product was great. It was so well fitting for a slim face. However the quality was not great. The lenses popped out the first time I tried the glasses on but was relatively easy to put back in. I persevered and did love the glasses but each time the lense fell out it got harder to put it back in and would not stay in. I had the glasses three years while living in Wisconsin so that's only using them about 5 months a year they would never have held up to the year round consistent wear I needed from glasses in Utah.

Love the style but...

By

from Burlington, VT, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I'd really like to like these, but I can't. As others have mentioned, there is a major design flaw. I keep these in the cloth bag that came with them at all times. After a month or two the earpieces began to scratch the inside of the lens. It's really annoying too because the scratch is right where my eye is, so it's pretty much rendered them useless. I've also had the lenses pop out on more than 1 occasion. The screws loosen pretty quickly & need to be tightened on a weekly basis if they're used everyday. Pretty disappointed in these. I do really like the style, but I'm surprised at the poor quality given the price and the quality Smith products I've used in the past. I'm sending them back for Warranty so I'll update post on resolution.

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

Yeah the lenses pop out but only after you've dropped them a few times. The good thing is when you do drop em, they never fall on the lens and get scratched. These are good for small faces and kids too. I have three pairs.

Great for slim faces

By

from Long Island, NY

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I've had these now for two years. I have always struggled to find sunglasses to fit my slim, ovular face, and these are perfect, especially for aviators. I don't wear any other sunglasses anymore, and I'm super-psyched that they come in multiple colors. The only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars is because my right lens constantly pops out when in my purse, even though I've replaced its case with a hard case.

Poorly designed sunglasses

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

The lenses are nice and the size works well for more narrow faces but for the price it is not worth it The arms are too short so when you fold the glasses they will hit inside of the lenses and scratch them. So unless you fold them carefully and put them down gently the arms will scratch the lenses every time. Ive owned two pairs and the problem only gets worse when the screws get loose, and they will very quickly, and really scratch up the lenses. Plus you cannot buy replacement lenses and scratches are not covered by the warranty

    Excited but very disappointed!

    By

    from Williamston, SC, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I was very excited about these sunglasses. I have been wearing another brand "O" for about a decade now, and decided to change to Smith Optics. The Serpico Sunglasses, are very stylish, have a great fit, and light weight. Those are the only pros.. I hate to say, but the sunglasses quality is terrible. The lenses are very cheap, and after using regular glasses cleaner that I get from Sunglasses Hut, the lenses are not spotted and it won't come out. Wish I could send pictures. The Frames are very cheap as well. Lenses kept popping out, and now the screws are stripped. I have only had these sunglasses for three months and have taken good care of them. For the cost of these sunglasses, I could have paid for 20+ of similar quality sunglasses at another retailer. I should have done more research on these sunglasses before I blindly purchased them because of style and fit. Quality means a lot to me especially when paying decent money for a pair of sunglasses, and the Serpico Brand failed in Quality.

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

Great pair of sunglasses. They wrap around your face unlike other brands and keep the sun out. They polarized lenses are great. My only complaint is that one of the screws came loose after a year of use and has to be tightened once a month due to day to day use.

an Aviator with a great fit

    By

    from California, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

I love the fit of this sunglass on my small face, it's just what I was looking for. I needed a non-polarized lens for flying, and finally found one with the Silver/Platinum. This would get 5 stars if it had an option for a grey non-polarized non-mirrored lens, since I need to wear it in uniform. The Blackout lens is not mirrored, but the Blackout lens has a colored frame which I can't use in uniform either. FYI: The Platinum lens does have a darker look than depicted in these pictures.

    Great Aviators

    By

    from Rawlins, WY 82301, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

These are great aviator style sunglasses that offer the perfect styling and comfortable fit. However, like some of the other reviewers, I had problems with the lenses popping out constantly. When I finally got one lens back in the other one would pop out. It never ended. So I'm sending them back to see if Smith can do anything for me, and hopefully the next pair won't be as fragile.

    Great Aviator!

    By

    from Denver, CO, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

These sunglasses are great for the smaller head, which mine is. Most sunglasses fit bigger heads, but these are perfect for those who need a smaller frame to fit a slimmer face. Great Clarity, stylish and looks great on anyone who puts them on.

    loose lenses

    By

    from Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

My right lens was loose too as a lot of people have said on these reviews. Simply tightening the eyewire screw solves the problem. When taking the glasses on and off so frequently, the screw will get loose, otherwise I love them !

I want to love these sunglasses...

    By

    from Medford, OR, USA

Comments about Smith Serpico Slim Sunglasses:

...and I did the first couple of times I wore them. Then the lenses started popping out. They are not that easy to put back in. And when they land on the ground they tend to get scratched. Bummer. Still, the are a fantastic fit and look bomber when they are intact. I feel extraordinarily more confident in them...until one of the lenses pops out. Then I'm just a poser again. *shame*
