These sunglasses are fantastic. So fantastic I had to order a second pair of them with Chromapop Polarized. Needless to say, I will never be returning to standard or even just plain polarized. Colors really do pop and glare is cut out almost completely. Although these are considered "Liftstyle" sunglasses, I find myself using them snowboarding, biking or playing volleyball over my more expensive athletic pair bought from a different company. Pleasantly surprised and glad I decided to jump off the band wagon and try a new brand. They stick to your head like glue, in a good way.

I bought these sunglasses sight unseen. I liked the style and green lenses, however, the POP lenses make the greens, really green, which is cool, but they make some blue skies look like a looming thunderstorm. The earpieces are thick enough to hide traffic when you are changing lanes. I have to lift my head slightly, when turning my head to the left to get a clear view of side traffic. I wouldn't buy this style again, but will continue to wear them until they are unusable.

Not what I was expecting (better)

By

from Boise, ID, USA

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

Was actually shopping for brand "O" when I came across the display stand for Smith Optics. Grabbed these off the shelf and I was surprised at the fit, comfort, feel, and especially the price. I'd highly recommend these specific shades. First time owning Smith Optics after having owned a lot of the other mainstream and expensive sunglasses. I'll definitely be coming back.

Great fitting frame and amazing Chromapop Lenses

By

from Torrance, CA, USA

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

I spend all my time outdoors and am always wearing sunglasses. I have had pairs from the most expensive companies to the cheapest and I keep coming back to Smith Optics. This time around I tried the Outlier's with Chromapop lenses and all I can say I *** W O W ***. I thought my Maui Jim's and Costa's were clear, the Chromapop lenses are even clearer and really does make everything more pleasant. The frame is a very good medium fit. Large enough to cover they eyes and give good coverage, but not too big that they looks bulky on your face.

I own 6 pairs of Smith Optics, love every one of them and the Outlier may be my new favorite. Every time I put them on I get excited about how awesome everything looks with the ChromaPop lenses. Seriously awesome, sharp looking sunglasses.

Lovin' them...

By

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

usually prefer more of a full wrap but as soon as I tried them on, felt like a young Jack Nicholas...(if that's a good thing!). Been taking better care of them for longer (i.e.: actually using the case) than other glasses. I'm stoked.

Great lenses, fit, and style

By

from Saddlestring, WY, 82840

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

I love these sunglasses. They fit me very well, when I normally have trouble finding suitable glasses. The polarization technology in these glasses is phenomenal on the water. I would recommend these glasses to the serious angler, or anyone looking for some nice glasses.

Love these

By

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

Love these sunglasses. Dropped the first pair in the river and had to get a second right away. The chromopop lense is unlike any other that I have owned - the colors are just brilliant and really strong. These have been my best friend out fly fishing on the Montana rivers when that sun can blaze mid summer. I have generally a bigger head and the fit of these is perfect. Would recommend these to anyone.

Great Everyday & Light Activity Glasses But Could Use A Bit Darker Lens

By

from Washington, DC, USA

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

What: Outliers in Tortoise w/Brown ChromaPop Polarized lens. (2015 Model I believe) Why: I have several pairs of sunglasses depending on activity and occasion, but found I really needed a solid "gap filler." Something I could drive in, wear casually almost every day in every situation, but engage in light activities and sports too. A pair that is not overly delicate or expensive like my formal wear sunglasses, but also subdued enough that if I needed to I could wear them in a suit & tie to a formal client meeting and not look like a "dude bro" presenter at the X-Games Awards. I was originally leaning towards the Ray-Ban Justin model, but saw these at a local Sporting Goods store and after trying them on, decided to purchase them. I'll start off by writing that your head's shape and size, and projection of features (cheek bones, nose & bridge, etc) is an important part of picking sunglasses that are right for you. My head is a medium oval shape and I wear a 7.25 hat size. I have a standard face (not too slim, not very meaty/fleshy) but I thin out when I start training. Medium sized features. Below is my subjective opinion: Pros: In my current trim, the outer edges of the Outlier's frames line up just a touch shy of edges of my cheekbones which is how frames should fit a face. This made them an instant move into the consideration pile when trying on different glasses at the store. The squared off lens shape with a gentle bit of arch compliments my face shape. Probably wouldn't work as well on Square faces or Round faces. You Diamond / Upside down Triangle faced guys can get away with anything on your noggins. For a thicker / chunkier styled set sunglasses, while they look heavy, in actuality they are suitably light. In hand, I would say they weigh about the same as a single AA battery. Build, material, and finish quality I would put at slight below some of my fashion label glasses, on par with the other big-names in this category, if not slightly better than two or three other well known names. The ChromaPop lenses work as advertise. They increase resolution and clarity in daylight. Colors standout and don't muddle. They also don't give the world an alien world, weird vibrancy and hue saturation, super resolution which I tend not to like as it becomes disorienting when the glasses come off or in situations where you glasses to come on/off frequently. Under the brown ChromaPop lenses, white light takes on warm dark tannish yellow (no duh!) but not disturbing. Everything is natural and enhanced. Lifetime Warranty. I caveat this by saying I haven't had a chance to try out this claim in whole, however, had Smith Ski goggles in the past whose foam padding simply wore out after several seasons of use, and Smith offered me a 50% discount on any pair of goggles on this site after I sent the old pair back. I also had the nose pads fall off an older pair of Smith Wrap Arounds and they sent me new pads no questions asked. Unless you do something ridiculous, Smith will probably stand behind their product and offer you at least a 50% replacement guarantee. Cons: UV protection is paramount with sunglasses, but I was disappointed with the amount of light transmittance. I'm not sure if this is a factor of the Brown lenses versus say a Grey, but this particular set of lenses seem to let a bit more light through than I would like. I don't have to squint but I am surprised how bright everything still is even with shades on. Friends say they can see my eyes quite easily. If the lights were on at 100 without glasses, these seems to dim the lights to about 80. I would like something more in the 70-65 range. I can see the large 2.5" rubber dimpled overmould used at the back of the arms where it slips over your ears, these will eventually begin caking up with oil and hair product and undoubtedly dry out / wear down and deteriorate then split. Wish an oleophobic silicone would have been used here, or none at all. Like most polarized lenses, looking at your smartphone while wearing these will make your screen feel like a surreal kaleidoscope of colors and rainbows. Subjective but the big gold "S" emblem, and gold inlay accent on the arms is something that could have been done without. I see Smith has changed this for the 2016 model and gone with a more subtle and tasteful SMITH roll mark over

versatile shades for sporting or hanging out

By

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

Purchased these for a versatile pair of shades I could wear running/rowing/playing sports but would also look good hanging out on a rooftop bar. They're perfect-- the Chromapop lenses are incredible, they look great and they fit really well. Came with a nice hard shell case and a cloth baggie that can be used to wipe the lenses.

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

I bought these sunglasses sight unseen. I liked the style and green lenses, however, the POP lenses make the greens, really green, which is cool, but they make some blue skies look like a looming thunderstorm. The earpieces are thick enough to hide traffic when you are changing lanes. I have to lift my head slightly, when turning my head to the left to get a clear view of side traffic. I wouldn't buy this style again, but will continue to wear them until they are unusable.

Extremely Satisfied!

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

I purchased the Outlier because of it's simple rectangular frame design. I am glad to report that the glasses are a perfect fit and have excellent quality ChromaPop polarized lenses. I don't know the science behind them but they actually do make a difference than any other Polarized lenses I've used. My brother highly recommended this lens option and so do I. What ever your style is make sure they have the ChromaPop Lenses!

Great Product

By

from Boulder, CO, USA

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

This product is light, stylish and gives you the ability to distinguish color like a mantis shrimp. Once you go chromapop you never go back. I am also colorblind and this is the first pair of glasses, or anything for this a bit that matter, that allows me to overcome much of my colorblind handicaps. For this I am super grateful. This style is a bit wider than i expected and the fit around the ears was a bit tight at first but has not adjusted. All in all i am super satisfied and do recommend the chromapop lenses.

Once you try ChromaPop you won't go back!

By

from Portland, OR, USA

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

I love these sunglasses! I got the brown / tortoise Outliers and I've never has a pair of sunglasses that have come close in comparison. The Big Deal is the ChromaPop lenses -- my eyes feel, for lack of a better word, _relaxed_ when I am wearing these sunglasses, whether I am driving, hiking, or, best of all, near the water. And the fit for me is perfect -- the frames fit snugly but not tight against my face; there's no chance of them running down my nose, even in warm weather or when I'm really exerting myself. One thing I am watching is the hinges -- they appear to be made out of a plastic material, but they seem substantial and so far at least they're durable. These Outliers are great stylin' go-anywhere sunglasses, and you've gotta LOVE the fantastic ChromoPop lens technology. See ya' at the beach! kellerdrake, Portland OR

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

Fantastic, solid, quality sunglasses. Get the ChromaPop, your eyes will thank you. Colors are warm and vivid, glare is non-existent and eye fatigue is minimal after a long day of use. Fit for these is perfect for my medium sized face and they're very comfy as heck and stylish enough to wear anywhere.

Unbelievable Glasses!

By

from Flagstaff, AZ, USA

Comments about Smith Outlier Sunglasses:

Let me just say that I wish my eyes had built in ChromaPop. The second you put them on your eyes relax and the world is a much more beautiful place. The contrast between normal polarization and the ChromaPop is staggering, I don't think I'll ever get another pair without them. The Outlier is a great fit and looks awesome on. Highly recommended.
