Outdoor Research Trailbreaker Pants 2012: Unlike any other, the Outdoor Research Trailbreaker Pants™ break the mold of high-performance pants. When you are breaking trail to your favorite powder stash, the highly water resistant lower leg will keep you dry, while the highly breathable upper fabric will let moisture escape easily. When it comes time to get extreme, the thigh vents help keep your body temperature regulated. The Trailbreaker pants feature additional guide-requested features including integrated ski gaiters and a beacon pocket, so you have everything you will ever need.

I just finished a 5-day backcountry trip, and these pants were great in many conditions: uphill slog with heavy pack, quick skinning up steep slopes, casual touring, high winds at the pass, and slogging back out in heavy fresh snow.
