The pow police is coming for your snowboard! The YES. 420 Snowboard is redesigning the way we look at a pow stick. Inspired by surfboard design, the 420 focuses on flotation and displacement through wider shapes instead of longer lengths. With a wider waist, the 148cm 420 offers just as much float and surface area as a traditional 160cm in a much more nimble package. Also, the 420's shape is slightly tapered (12mm) which works with the PowRock profile to keep the nose out of the snow - aka less tomahawks. Change the way you look at a pow day with the YES. 420 Snowboard.
PowRock – 6 mm rocker blending to flat, 2 mm rocker in the tail. Flat rocker with longer, more directional nose rocker. Nose rocker is pulled further towards the front foot for increased flotation and the ability to get onto pow-covered features.
Medium – Not too stiff. Not too soft. Perfect for all mountain shred.
Directional Wide – Inspired by Steve Lis and the revolution that occurred when kneeboards influenced surfboard design. Powder is all about speed and flotation. Displacement of a board's volume is affected by more than just length. With the 420, YES. was able to get the stability and float normally associated with much longer boards by punching out the waist width and drastically chopping the length. For example, the 148 has the same circumference and base surface as a traditional 160 but its mass is located much closer to your feet resulting in more maneuverability and far less swing weight.
Taper, yo! – A slight taper (12mm) helps keep the nose up without loosing the tail's ability to hold on hardpack. Stance is only slightly set back from the center of effective edge because the difference in nose and tail shovel keeps you from going over the nose.
Featherlight Core – Designed specifically for the 420. The featherlight core strikes a critical balance between lightweight and strength. Using a lower density species of poplar in areas that are not as structural and Paulownia in areas that are, YES. is able to shave precious weight off the beloved 420. This helps the board not only float, but "feel" floaty.
Triax – Triax laminate consists of fiberglass that is braided in three directions. Meaning it gives the snowboard an asymmetrical flex with lengthwise stiffness. For you, this delivers a snowboard that has tons of pitch when jumping.
Biax – Biax laminate consists of fiberglass that is braided in two directions. The fibers are braided vertically at 90 degrees. This ensures a torsional flex that is more evenly distributed throughout the snowboard. For you, this translates to a snowboard that is easy to handle and jib friendly.
ABS – Durable, flexible, infinitely reliable
Sintered 2000 – Sintered bases are super fast. Polyethylene pellets are forced together under extremely high pressure. The result is a singular piece of connected pellets with tiny pores across the entire base. Sintered bases absorb hot wax really well.
Die-Cut Base – Base color displayed may not be available. Base colors may vary.
