Salomon Protocol Snowboard - Demo 2014

Hit the park and pipe like you've never before with the Salomon Protocol Snowboard. Featuring Salomon's all new Pheonix Core combined with Area 51 Base, Flat Out Camber, and EQ5 sidecut, the Protocol will have you blasting off jumps and boosting airs all the way down the pipe. Shock Eraser Rails give you better control at high speeds, with a True Twin freestyle specific shape so you can go both ways. The ultimate park destroyer has touched down. See you in orbit. *This is a new demo product used only for show. It has never been used but may have slight cosmetic wear from transit.*
Rocker Type
Flat Out Camber - A flat profile loaded with Camber under the feet for maximum stability and response, when and where you need it.
Flex
Flex Rating: 7 (1 Softest - 10 Stiffest) - A stiff flex for intermediate to advanced riders looking for more precision control at high speeds, whether it be in the park, pipe, or anywhere on the hill
Shape
True Twin - Salomon's true twin shape is a freestyle specific shape with identical tip and tail lengths and shapes creating a symmetrical core profiling, flex and a centered binding stance.
EQ5 Sidecut - Using 5 straight lines, Equalizer 5 adds extra control and precision for a more responsive ride in all conditions.
Core
Phoenix Core - The weightless feel of a hi-end snowboard without the harsh chatter. Phoenix Core is designed to excel with the profile and sidecut, for maximum board feel and control, with less swingweight on the tip and tail, and so much pop you might never come down.
Popster Eco Booster - Popster Booster plus Bamboo Rods provide the best in Eco Pop and performance.
Laminates
BA MD - Medium density European-made fiberglass layers for a guaranteed consistency of quality on light and lively boards
Sidewalls
Shock Eraser Rails - 100% Polyurethane sidewall for lightweight shock absorption and chatter control at high speeds
Base
Area51 - Built to go faster and fly higher, the Area51 base is a high-density sintered based laced with a super-secret wax formula, and a specifically engineered factory finish designed for air time and durability.
Edges
Freestyle Edge Bevel - Salomon creates a freestyle edge by detuning the tip and tail and then moving to a 2 degree edge holding tune throughout the key parts of the sidecut and then moves back to a 3 degree bevel edge between the feet, all to deliver a complete blend of edge hold and park shred.

Specs

  • Terrain: Freestyle
    Freestyle
Freestyle or park snowboards tend to be a bit shorter in length and love terrain parks, rails, jibs, trash cans, tree trunks, riding switch (non-dominant foot forward), wall rides and more. Freestyle boards often feature a true twin shape, and are typically selected by those looking to ride the terrain park. A more versatile variant of a freestyle board is the all-mountain freestyle, which combines the versatility of an all mountain snowboard with the playfulness of a freestyle snowboard.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Flat/Camber/Flat
    Flat/Camber/Flat
This profile is very similar to full camber, except that it has a mellower flat area from the bindings out. This will make it more forgiving and easier to do some tricks in the park.
  • Flex Rating: Stiff
    Stiff
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
