Comments about Rome MiniShred Rocker Snowboard - Youth 2013:

I bought this board for my kids who were using some old K2 and Burton boards we picked up at a garage sale for the last 2 years. Them learning on the stiff boards was really challenging and they were not progressing. Turning was very tiring for small (kids 3 and 5y.o) kids trying to maintain their edge so I think that it held them back a lot. We have been stuck on the bunny hill forever. They were catching edges a lot and the falls were really painful for them.

Once we got the Rome board their skills took a fast an giant leap forward. This ROME board is really nice and flexible. My kids took to it right away and began turning all over the hill at will. We started being able to go up the lift and make our way down greens and blues handily. The amount of falling has been much less frequent and the falls have not been so hard.

This ROME board is not as flexible as the Burton chicklet that we also picked up a couple weeks later.

Overall this is a fantastic board and really allows the wee ones to hone their skills. It would be a great board for early learners since they don't catch the edges as they did with their stiff old boards.

This board is stiff enough that they can progress from intermediate to more advanced boarding. I would say the chicklet would be a better board for someone just starting out their first few times though.... it is much softer.

We paired our boards with some Flow bindings and both kids can now get in and out on their own although they fall down getting in and out... they can do it on their own and they love it.
