Never Summer Shop all Never Summer
The Never Summer Proto HDX Snowboard is a special deck in the NS lineup, an avenue for NS to unveil their latest and greatest. Oriented towards unrestricted, all-mountain riding, the Proto HDX is a balanced ride with Harmonic Dampers and a unique Perforated Rocker Pad for a board that remains chatter-less and smooth when ripping at high speeds. Its medium flex gives ample response to the rider, yet remains playful for jibbing natural terrain. From a relaxing day of chairlift lapping to throwing down everything and seeing what sticks, the Never Summer Proto HDX Snowboard is going to crank up the fun.
Rocker Type
Original Rocker Camber - Never Summer's Original Rocker Camber profile begins with rocker at the nose and tail. Directly underfoot the bend translates into a traditional camber where it meets a subtle rocker between the bindings. The Original Rocker Camber provides a surfy and playful feel while maintaining superior performance and versatility.

3 Pressure Points - This snowboard has 3 Pressure Points. Pressure points make your board perform; The Rocker Camber gives you high pressure between the feet. This pivotal point gives your snowboard a playful feel that performs exceptionally in powder and when freeriding. With extra stability, precision and edge hold your turning abilities are enhanced too!

Flex
Mid - Medium flex tuned for all-mountain freestyle.
Shape
True Twin
Vario Power Grip Sidecut - The Vario Power Grip Sidecut enhances edge hold from the multiple radiuses that create contact points. The sidecut features a flat area where the snowboard is rockered for better flex and to prevent edge-catching. Towards the end of the snowboard, the sidecut is deep to render quick turn initiation.
Low Profile Tip/Tail - A low profile in the nose and tail of the snowboard maximizes material contact with the snow for more powerful ollie/nollie pop and adds stability to your landings. Low Profile Tip/Tail also reduces the plowing effect in the nose for better glide to the next feature and superior float when it's deep.
Core
NS SuperLight Wood Core - Using a sustainable genetically modified Poplar wood fused with a durable Birch hardwood, NS has created the lightest weight yet durable core on the market. The NS SuperLight Wood Core is CNC sanded in their custom wood working facility to a fraction of a millimeter. A tailored flex is perfected, giving their snowboards unequaled performance.
Laminates
Carbon Max Laminate Technology - The Carbon Max Laminate Technology combines an advanced top and base carbon matrix to maximize response and strength where you need it the most. The result is a lightweight yet powerful configuration that provides torsional rigidity and energy transfer without sacrificing control.

STS Pre-tensioned Fiberglass - The world's best snowboard fiberglass, period. STS Pre-tensioned Fiberglass is an advanced pre-hardened, pre-tensioned, layered laminate that has added elastomer stringers between the 0 degree and 90 degree glass fibers. This produces a stronger bond between the individual glass laminates for unmatched strength, edge hold and performance.
Bi-Lite Fiberglass - Bi-Lite fiberglass is strong, durable and made of lightweight glass fibers. This delivers incredible freestyle and freeride performance without sacrificing the snowboards impact resistance.
RDS 2 Damping System - This lightweight system uses three narrower laminated damping layers that provide the perfect combination of vibration, absorption and stability. RDS 2 is the perfect balance of freeride stability and freestyle liveliness.
Harmonic Tip/Tail Damper - Harmonic dampers in the tip and tail take out a high percentage of residual vibration by quieting the nose and tail. This enhances stability at speed, in variable snow conditions and on board landings without deadening the liveliness and pop of the cambered areas.
Perforated Rocker Pad - Perforated to reduce weight, these thin elastomeric Perforated Rocker Pads are strategically located in the mid-section of the board. This absorbs the vibration between the feet and provides a buffer in the rocker area, which is in continuous contact with the snow.
Sidewalls
Sintered P-tex Sidewall - NS was the first snowboard company to use and perfect Sintered P-Tex Sidewalls, and they've never seen one crack. Unlike conventional ABS sidewalls that have a tendency to crack in colder temperatures, Sintered P-Tex sidewalls maintain their integrity at any temperature.
Base
Durasurf XT Sintered 5501 Base - The new sintered snowboard base made by Crown Plastics. An addition of graphite has been added to make the Durasurf XT Sintered 5501 Base super-fast and wax absorbent.
Die-cut Base - Base color displayed may not be available. Base colors may vary.
Topsheet
Carbonium Topsheet - The Carbonium topsheet is a very durable, scratch and chip resistant material with a high tech carbon fiber like texture. Carbonium topsheet also provides more grip than other topsheet materials, working as a built in stomp pad.
Binding Compatibility
2 x 4 Inserts

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Freestyle
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
    Freestyle
Freestyle or park snowboards tend to be a bit shorter in length and love terrain parks, rails, jibs, trash cans, tree trunks, riding switch (non-dominant foot forward), wall rides and more. Freestyle boards often feature a true twin shape, and are typically selected by those looking to ride the terrain park. A more versatile variant of a freestyle board is the all-mountain freestyle, which combines the versatility of an all mountain snowboard with the playfulness of a freestyle snowboard.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Camber/Rocker/Camber
    Camber/Rocker/Camber
Camber/Rocker/Camber is a profile that’s specific to snowboards and which works because the rider’s weight flattens the two cambered areas. This design produces a strong, pressured carving zone between the rider’s feet and retains pop and carving precision at the tip and tail.
  • Shape: True Twin
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
