The Never Summer Onyx Mini Snowboard is nothing short of a pro-level board to give girls the snowboard that they deserve. a FDS Damping System, Press Flex Core, and Low Profile Tip and Tail all give this board incredible park dominating ability with lots of snappiness. Whether the rider has been at it for a couple years or is just starting, this board performs great for both more advanced grommets and those hitting the slopes for their first time. Never Summer is tired of seeing young one's getting gypped by companies making a weaker version of pro boards, equip your rider with the Never Summer Onyx Mini for their full potential.
Rocker Type
Original Rocker Camber Profile - Never Summer's original Rocker Camber Profile is the best of both worlds. Rocker underfoot for flotation, mobility, and a forgiving feel, plus camber extending from the outside of the mounting area to the transition area for superior edge hold and explosive pop. Transition area at the end of the camber extends to the effective edge, keeping the board from pushing against the snow for effortless glide while making it less likely to catch an edge. Bottom line: benefits of rocker with the spring, stability, and edge hold of camber.
Low Profile Tip / Tail - Maximizes material contact with the snow for more powerful ollie/nollie pop and added stability on landings. Reduces the plowing effect in the nose for better glide when the going gets deep.
Flex
Flex Rating: 2 (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - A great all-around flex for groms and serious park-riders.
Shape
Vario Power Grip Sidecut - This sidecut profile utilizes multiple radiuses to create extra contact points that enhance edge hold. Flat section in the rocker area allows the board to track straight when unweighted and provides a broad contact point when weighted. Shallow radius sidecut is found next to this section, providing the second and third contact points. Deep radius sidecut at the ends for quick turn initiation and make up the final contact points.
Core
Press Flex Core - This core features 2 specific softer flex points between the feet creating better hinge points for ultimate pressing and ollie performance.
P-Tex Tip and Tail Protection
Laminates
Bi-Lite Fiberglass - Ultra-light glass fiber matrix that combines many characteristics of STS fiberglass. Delivers incredible freestyle performance without sacrificing durability.
Elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers - Elastomeric Rubber Stabilizers directly below the mounting area provide optimum vibraiton absorption and increase high speed stability while reducing foot fatigue.
FDS Damping System - FDS utilizes thinner rubber foil for a lighter snappier feel, while still providing stability not generally found in a freestyle, pipe/park board.
Sidewalls
Sintered P-Tex Sidewall - Incredibly durable sidewalls that maintain their integrity even at super cold temperatures.
Base
Durasurf XT Sintered 4501 Base - Never Summer exclusive. This high density base is incredible fast and provides unmatched performance and durability.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Freeride, Freestyle
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
    Freeride
Freeride snowboards are designed for the rider that spends most of the day off groomed runs and in backcountry terrain. They typically have a stiffer flex and are ridden in longer sizes than freestyle snowboards. Freeride snowboards often feature a directional shape that is designed to perform optimally in one direction.
    Freestyle
Freestyle or park snowboards tend to be a bit shorter in length and love terrain parks, rails, jibs, trash cans, tree trunks, riding switch (non-dominant foot forward), wall rides and more. Freestyle boards often feature a true twin shape, and are typically selected by those looking to ride the terrain park. A more versatile variant of a freestyle board is the all-mountain freestyle, which combines the versatility of an all mountain snowboard with the playfulness of a freestyle snowboard.
  • Ability Level: Beginner-Intermediate
    Beginner-Intermediate
Someone who is new to the sport or working on linking smoother turns falls into this ability level. Typical beginner ski/snowboard qualities include: softer materials, narrower widths, and capped constructions. The idea is to create a ride that is easy to turn and very forgiving in case you become off balance or fall in the back seat. The addition of rocker in the tip and tail gives a catch-free feeling and shorter contact length when the ski/snowboard is flat on the snow, making it easier to turn.
  • Rocker Type: Camber/Rocker/Camber
    Camber/Rocker/Camber
Camber/Rocker/Camber is a profile that’s specific to snowboards and which works because the rider’s weight flattens the two cambered areas. This design produces a strong, pressured carving zone between the rider’s feet and retains pop and carving precision at the tip and tail.
  • Shape: True Twin
  • Flex Rating: Soft
    Soft
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
