Lib Tech Birdman FDBTX HP Snowboard 2013

The feathery Snowbird graphic and slow-rise “Flotation Device” nose on the Lib Tech Birdman FDBTX HP Snowboard tells it all – this board is unequalled in powder or any fresh snow that comes close to it. With its all-terrain directional shape, all basalt (no fiberglass) construction and Columbian Gold wood core, this stick kills it in the deep while allowing for supreme carving on hard pack and phenomenal control in the trees.
Rocker Type
Banana Technology (BTX) - Rocker between your feet blended with flat-to-mild camber to contact points focuses pressure between your feet for easy turns, great edge hold on ice, and a mild amount of pressure to the tip and tail for unreal float and catch-free freestyle.

Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 7
Shape
Directional Twin Geometries - Effortless freestyle and freeride geometry: Twin chassis (from contact to contact) but with an ever so slightly longer nose than tail allows the board to float on powder and blasts through crud. It's a Twin with an advantage.
Tapered
Core
Columbian Gold Core - Experimental new dead tree with the highest compression response ever used in a snowboard
Laminates
Basalt - Basalt is produced in a clean, pure process consisting of high heat and absent of toxic additives. Not only is it safer for humans, it’s easier to recycle. Basalt fiber has strength properties much higher than fiberglass and better damping properties for a smooth ride.
Sidewalls
Double Sintered UHMW - Twice as sintered as any other sidewall: tough, handsome, and light
Power Transfer Internal Sidewalls - The same futuristic power 90º pop technology from Lib Tech's world record setting skateboards and power transfer spines, only this time Lib Tech has placed it along the sidewall of your board to add board control to our sandwich construction: stronger, more pop, and more control.
Base
Sintered UHMW - Super tough base material that holds wax well due to its compression formed amorphous polymer structure
Edges
Magne-Traction™ - Serrated edges slice through the snow with 7 strategically located and sized bumps along each side of your sidecut giving you insane edge hold and precision control. The biggest bumps are at and between your feet where your balance is centered adding maximum control and power where you need it most. The bumps outside your feet are smaller and less aggressive providing tip and tail control but maintaining freestyle freedom.

Topsheet
Bio-Plastic Beans - A bio-plastic top skin made from beans that features the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any top sheet in the industry
Graphics
Art by Mike Parillo
Additional Features
Correct Sandwich Construction - SUPER LIGHT SPIN WEIGHT! The perfect blend of pickles and mustard: UHMW sidewalls and Power Transfer Internal sidewalls
Horsepower Construction - Features all Basalt, no traditional fiberglass, Beans top material, and Columbian Gold Eco Timber Core for Volcanic Organic Power Banana performance

Comments about Lib Tech Birdman FDBTX HP Snowboard 2013:

My wife bought this for me for Christmas. I live in Utah and ride big lines and tight trees on big days. I've owned many different powder guns and this is the best I've ridden. I prefer it to any swallowtail and it finally bumped a pair of old Supermodels that I was worried would wear out before I found something else.
It floats bigger than it is, turns tighter than it is (you can hurry it up in the trees without sinking the nose), and goes faster in the flats than it should.
I can rail it out on the piste, and it holds a decent edge on icy cat tracks. It's light, snappy, and sexy.
My only complaint is that it has a 2 cm warp to it; if you lay it on the ground, the right rear edge and the front left edge lift off of the ground. I took it to the local "super pro shop" where they know the guys at Mervin. Mervin said it wasn't a warranty defect, that it shouldn't affect the performance. For nearly $700 I expected a better response. It's so noticeable that someone in the lift line commented on it.

Comments about Lib Tech Birdman FDBTX HP Snowboard 2013:

By far my favorite board in my stable, I love it! Excels in powder and chunk, easy to maneuver in the trees, stable on kickers and comfortable on steeps. This board can chomp up anything in its path and is an all-terrain beast.

Comments about Lib Tech Birdman FDBTX HP Snowboard 2013:

I reviewed this board earlier indicating that the board had become to warp (almost imperceptibly). It continued to warp, and I sent it back to Mervin (the manufacturer).
I got my new board yesterday; it's perfect. Excellent to see them stand behind their product. I've owned six lib tech's over the years. This is the first I've ever had any issue with, and they took care of me. Thanks Mervin!
