Comments about Lib Tech Banana Magic HP BTX Snowboard 2016:
This snowboard is insanely fun!
It's got two special attributes seen nowhere else in the Lib Tech product line. It has both the deepest / most aggressive reverse camber & deepest / most aggressive turning radius of all their boards. This makes it a blast to rail turns on and float, press, and ollie on.
It also was the first board in their line to have the Horsepower technology (Basalt inlay vs. fiberglass). It's always a funny technology to try to explain, but in my experience, compared to the consistent amount of resistance / stiffness that biaxial & triax fiberglass provides, the basalt is lighter, and at the low end / lesser amount of pressure applied to it, it is more playful & flexible. Then when you hammer on it or rail a hard turn, it locks up / stiffens. It's like a more lively & reactive version of fiberglass. It was obviously a sweet technoloigy, given it's expansion into special ./ higher end versions of all their best selling / higher end snowboards (TRS, T. Rice, Skunk Ape, etc.)
This board was the dream ride / brainchild of LIb's founder Mike Olsen and is his daily driver. If the mad scientist behind all the amazing stuff Mervin manufacturing makes chooses this as his holy grail, so should you. I did, and it's a total curve thrower. Especially coming from a person who demos at least 20 different snowboards every year.
Secret's out, join the party, massage your cheeks afterwards from too much grinning.
