Lib Tech Attack Banana EC2BTX Snowboard 2013

If you’ve been dreaming of taking your freestyle moves out of the park and onto the rest of the mountain, the Lib Tech Attack Banana EC2BTX Snowboard is your tool. Lib Tech moves the camber in the tip and tail slightly closer to the center of this board to focus on pop, giving you a bit more shock absorption for landing big hits, and ease of turn initiation. Also added is a smoother tip and tail curve for better float in powder. Wahoo.
Rocker Type
EC2 Elliptical Camber / Banana Blend (EC2 BTX) - Elliptical Camber combined with Banana Rocker moves the camber closer to your bindings, slightly reducing the amount of pressure at tip and tail. This gives a slightly smoother and more forgiving ride than C2.

Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 6-7 depending on size
Shape
True Twin - A symmetrical shape for equally precise performance riding regular or switch.
Core
Columbian Gold Core - Experimental new dead tree with the highest compression response ever used in a snowboard
Laminates
Basalt / Fiberglass Combo - Basalt is produced in a clean, pure process consisting of high heat and absent of toxic additives. Not only is it safer for humans, it’s easier to recycle. Basalt fiber has strength properties much higher than fiberglass and better damping properties for a smooth ride.
Sidewalls
Soy-Based Elastomer Sidewalls
Power Transfer Internal Sidewalls - The same futuristic power 90º pop technology from Lib Tech's world record setting skateboards and power transfer spines, only this time Lib Tech has placed it along the sidewall of your board to add board control to our sandwich construction: stronger, more pop, and more control.
Base
TNT - Fast and low maintenance dual layered fluoro base material: Wax it or maybe skip a day.
Edges
Magne-Traction™ - Serrated edges slice through the snow with 7 strategically located and sized bumps along each side of your sidecut giving you insane edge hold and precision control. The biggest bumps are at and between your feet where your balance is centered adding maximum control and power where you need it most. The bumps outside your feet are smaller and less aggressive providing tip and tail control but maintaining freestyle freedom.

I have the 2012 161 model, but ain't nothing changed but the graphics. This is a great board, but it may take more than a few runs to get used to. I rode a bunch last year and this year and I feel like it is just getting broken in. It is definitely on the stiff side. I weigh 205 and am a fast power-carver-surf-slash-style rider. I mainly bomb and carve the groomers and hunt the pow and thread trees. I do ride natural and switch. I prefer natural hits but I also like to throw some jibs and hit some park jumps, etc. The only drawback of this board is that with the rocker hump between the feet, it twitches side to side when bombing it flat base style on the groomers, and you can feel the Magnatraction lumps trying to grab. I am more comfortable keeping it on a rail at higher speeds. Now that the board is getting more broken in that effect seems to be improving some. Or maybe I am just used to it. This is my first board that was not a true all camber; so for me it is a welcome to the future of new concaves type deal. This is pretty close to the perfect all mountain shred stick.

The Attack Banana is a great all mountain board. However, it was not for me. The board didn't seem to have any particular positive attributes that stood out. It was decent at high speeds, decent in the park (especially for spinning), and pretty good in the powder. Although it was supposed to have soft landings, I did not find that attribute in this board. If for whatever reason you like a little flex in your board, ie. riding bumps, pressing, etc, I wouldn't reccomend it.

Comments about Lib Tech Attack Banana EC2BTX Snowboard 2013:

I'm 5'7'' and weight about 165 and wanted a shorter, more playful board, so went with the 153 Attack Banana this year. I usually ride a 157 - 159 and was amazed how well this shorty did in the deep stuff. Worked great all over the mountain, was stable at speed, and a blast in the park. Perfectly playful flex with enough stiffness in the tail for landings. Was a little apprehensive about the extruded base not being fast enough but this thing is a little rocket! This might be due to the shorter size/less surface area. Would definitely recommend it as a great all mountain board.

Why did I ever go away from Lib? It was always my board of choice until some friends hooked me up with a few freebies. Never quite satisfied and bit the bullet to buy the Attack Banana. A huge difference in stability, control and responsiveness. Rode it on Whistler Blackcomb for 3 days on spring corn down low and on hard-packed glacier conditions up high. Makes those days when you have to ride groomers enjoyable. Hoping for some late season pow to test it out.

Having a board called the Attack Banana is a sweet deal in itself. I got this board this year and have already taken it out five times. From park to trees to groomers, I am not worried where I am riding or with who. This board does it all for me, and does it well.
            Definitely a good buy.

This is a really good all mountain ripper EC2 tech suits kind of like having all the tech from Lib but a mellow version. This board isn't too stiff or too soft. Very good flex.. with a little bot stiffer tail. I could see myself riding this from the steeps to the park to more pow.

            Attack Banana > Denzel Washington

Comments about Lib Tech Attack Banana EC2BTX Snowboard 2013:

Do you have any idea how sweet orange juice tastes when it's been freshly squeezed by Denzel Washington himself? Not half as sweet as the Attack Banana by Lib Tech. The flex on this board is perfect for the all-mountain rider that truly rides ALL over the mountain - groomers, dense trees, deep pow, and even a little park. The tip and tail are softened just enough to make the board playful, while the elliptical camber under foot gives the board unbelievable throttle and edge control. The price tag is a little high, but the Attack Banana is on its own plane of do-it-all performance. There's no doubt this board gets the coveted "cherished all-mountain rip stick" award.

Rips. Therefore, when on this, I ripped. So you'd probably rip too. Demoed this guy mostly down groomers, with a litte crud and trees sprinkled in - no problems to be had. Road the 153 (I'm 5'10"ish, 160ish) and it seemed to be pretty stable going mach fast. The Magna-traction locked in and didn't feel catchy to me at all. This had a good amount of pop off little bumps, also had a little play - so I am sure a guy who charges harder than I could use this in the park, but I would say the true habitat you'd find aggressive bananas would be all mountain, off-trail stuff. Bit on the stiffer side - tipping to away from the noodle. This definitely has good control with some float that'd be wonderful dropping cliffs or bonking trees. Today, I learned how to secretly slice a banana without peeling it. Just another piece of evidence why bananas are awesome. Monkeys eat'em too. Therefore, anything banana associated should be awesome as well. get some.

Killer playful board for all styles of riding. This board is a poppy mid-flexing board. Hold its own in the crud with the magne-traction and super fun in the pow. Will excel in the park or off your backcountry booter. And then later in the day when you decide to hike the freeride line you have been staring at all day, it will get it done!
