Jones Solution Splitboard 2015

Jones Shop all Jones
There's a reason that the Jones Solution Splitboard is the best selling split in the world. It might be the time-tested shape and flex that delivers unmatched performance and feel. Or possibly it's the floaty Blunt Nose that munches pow like none other. It could even be a combination of the Directional Rocker Profile, mellow Magne-Traction and Carbon Stringers that give this board power, traction and pop. Whatever it is, there's one thing we know for sure: the Jones Solution Splitboard is a kick-ass solution to all of your backcountry boarding fantasies.
Rocker Type
Directional Rocker - A hybrid rocker/camber flex pattern defined by more tip rocker than tail rocker and camber between the bindings. The rockered tip floats the board's nose and improves maneuverability while the camber underfoot provides edge hold and response. A slightly rockered tail maintains the power and stability of a traditional board but helps keep the tail catch-free initiating turns and landing switch.
Flex
Flex Rating: 8 (1 softest - 10 stiffest)
Shape
Blunt Nose - "How a board glides in powder, crust, corn, or any snow condition more then an inch deep is dictated by its front contact point and just past it. Next time you are in soft snow watch how much snow comes over the corner of the nose near the contact point. The billowing snow means you are plowing through it which is obviously slowing you down. By adding a blunt nose you get the float benefits of a much longer board tip without the added length or swing weight." - Jeremy Jones
Progressive Sidecut - At the far ends of the side cut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually decreasing the side cut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.
Core
Ultra Core - Full-wood triple-density wood core that uses complex hardwood stringer positioning to produce a core that's ultralight, uber responsive and super tough.
Laminates
Quadrax Carbon - Jone's signature laminate composition, Carbon Quadrax features multi-layered, multi-axis fiberglass meshed with dual-zone carbon fiber power bands. Carbon power bands offer supreme snap and stability on steep terrain and at speed.
Carbon Split-Stringers - Carbon Split Stringers add torsional stiffness to each half of the splitboard for improved response and increased pop. Carbon layer keeps flex profile dimensionally stable for a consistent ride for the lifetime of the board.
Sidewalls
Recycled ABS - ABS Plastic is one of the necessary evils of snowboard production. Jones improves the sustainability of their snowboards by using only recycled plastic.
Base
Sintered 9900 Base - The fastest, most durable and wax absorbent natural base material available.
Stone Ground Finish - For unmatched glide and wax adhesion, Jones finishes the bases of their boards with a stone ground structure pattern that's race ready in all snow conditions.
Die-cut Base - Base color displayed may not be available. Base colors may vary.
Edges
Mellow Magne-Traction - Like a serrated knife slicing into the snow, Magne-Traction improves your edge grip by adding multiple contact points along the running length of the board. "Magne-Traction is a key ingredient for rockered board designs. Adding rocker to your board makes it glide more smoothly, but it makes it harder to really lock into your turns and hold a solid edge. Magne-Traction is crucial to offset the drift typical of rocker flex patterns." - Jeremy Jones
Stronger Edges - Jones added 35% more steel than a typical edge, what this achieves is a 250% increase in impact resistance compared to standard edges.
Additional Features
Factory Tuned - All Jones Snowboards are factory de-tuned at the tip and tail plus waxed with OneBallJay Bio Wax so you can go right from the shop to the mountain.
Karakoram Hardware - All Jones Splitboards feature Karakoram K-clips plus tip and tail hooks.
Alu-Tip Protector - Reinforced aluminum tip protector bonded to a vibration-damping elastomer layer.

Specs

  • Terrain: Splitboarding
    Splitboarding
A splitboard snowboard is built specifically for the backcountry rider. Splitboards are designed to break down into two separate halves for touring and uphill travel (with climbing skins). Special bindings are required as well. Once you've reached the top of the terrain feature, you reconnect your splitboard for the ride back downhill. However, it's important to note that you will need appropriate backcountry tools, knowledge of the backcountry, weather and snow conditions and climbing skins to safely take advantage of the freedom of a splitboard.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
    Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker shapes seek to give you both hard-carving edgehold on firm snow from camber underfoot with enhanced turnability and float in powder from the rockered tip and tail. This profile is increasingly popular for freeride boards designed primarily for soft snow.
  • Shape: Directional
  • Flex Rating: Stiff
    Stiff
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
