Burton Freebird Splitboard 2012: Go where no man has gone before, well at least any sucker in a lift line, with the Burton Freebird Splitboard. The latest advancement in splitboard technology, the Burton Freebird features S-Rocker™ technology, tapered shaping and Side Effects for improved edge hold and easier planning. Commit yourself to the pow life with the Burton Freebird Splitboard. Interface, Skins and Crampons Sold Separately.
Flex
Flex rating: 5 (1 soft -10 stiff)
Medium flex means the Burton Freebird has a great amount of flex and response but without being too stiff. Built for riders who love powder all day everyday
Directional flex features increased pop in the tail and a more resilient nose that allows riders to easily maintain control and flow through all terrain and conditions.
Construction and Core
Super Fly II™ core with Dualzone™ EGD™ features stronger and lighter woods that target specific areas of the core to provide pop, strength and reduced weight.
Infinite Ride™ assure the board will maintain its flex, pop and feel from day one and for years to come.
Triax™ Fiberglass with Carbon I-Beam™ allows for a versatile flex and response for all types of shredders.
Shape
S Rocker features rocker from the nose to under your front foot, then transitions to camber between your feet and to the tail. Compressing the camber causes the entry rocker to naturally lift the nose improving float and stability through pow turns and variable conditions.
Directional Shape is the most versatile snowboard shape, designed with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow and control.
Sidewalls, Edges and Base
Sintered Base is durable and highly porous, with added durability and superior wax absorption.
10:45™ Sidewalls have extra-meaty, dual angle geometry that results in bomb impact absorption.
Pro-Tip™ tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
Side Effects lengthen the surface area at the tip and tail contact points to improve edge hold and allow the board to plane easier in powder.

Comments about Burton Freebird Splitboard 2012:

The FreeBird is Sooo much nicer then Burtons splits of the past. The S rocker makes it float like a dream, No porpoisesing on this board. I'd say it has a soft feel if you really start to ripe it, but stays stable and has no problem with the speed end of things. I have yet to try it in more then 8-10" of pow. Over all for the price it is a great board tons of fun and worth the money. My only problem with it is the metal clips that hook it together are closer to the binding holes then I would like. Why you may ask Simple I like to rock a Wide stance and if I put the "Puck's" all the way back I can not put my white waves on with out the metal clip stopping me. Not a huge deal I just moved my stance up a click, however a man want to ride wide on the white wave he should be able to. So BUrton move those thing back an inch and a quarter.
