Burton Custom Flying V Wide Snowboard 2013

The venerable Custom, now with the option of a Flying V™ rocker profile rather than the traditional full camber, the Burton Custom Flying V Wide Snowboard combines a subtle pop with insane carving ability and do-it-all versatility. Burton throws every tech feature in its arsenal into this board, and it shows.
Rocker Type
Flying V™ - A blend of Camber and Rocker, for the best of both worlds: rocker overall, including between and outside your feet, enhances playfulness and float. Underneath your feet, subtle camber zones focus edge-control for added pop and power through turns.
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 5, A medium flex for easy turning and forgiving freestyle moves
Infinite Ride™ - This Burton-exclusive technology allows for maximized pop and strength by overbuilding the board, then putting it in a machine that breaks in the board for you. Whether you choose to ride Springloaded, Rocker, or Camber, rest assured that with Infinite Ride™ your board will maintain its flex, pop and feel from the first day forward, season after season.

Shape
Pro-Tip™ - A tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
Sidecut
Directional - The classic, most versatile snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain or condition
Core
Super Fly® Core - Lightened up and loaded with pop, this vertical sandwich of hard and soft woods saves weight and improves snap and response.
Dual Zone™ EGD™ - Engineered Grain Direction manipulates the angles and direction of wood grains in the core for superior edge-hold, response, and durability.
Squeezebox - This improves performance through the balance of thicker, more powerful core sections with thinner, more flexible sections. Rider energy is transferred outward from where it originates beneath the feet, energizing the tip and tail while making the board more stable and easily manipulated.

Laminates
Triax™ Fiberglass - Versatile flex and response for everything from mini to mega shred
Carbon I-Beam - This ultra-light carbon backbone increases pop and longitudinal snap.
Lightning Bolts - Radiating outward from beneath your feet, these energy transfer strands allow us to make the board more responsive without making it stiff. The Hi-Voltage version features energy transfer strands woven into the fiberglass both above and below the board’s core for better power and response.

Sidewalls
10:45™ Sidewalls - 10:45’s extra-meaty, dual angle geometry results in better impact absorption and durability.
Base
Sintered WFO - Super fast base that retains wax well, 50% recycled content
Diecut Base Color - Combinations may vary
Edges
Frostbite Edges - Edges beneath your bindings extend out slightly for tremendous edgehold on hard, icy conditions. Powerful when you need them, playful when you don’t, Frostbite Edges are hungry for hard-pack while remaining forgiving in softer conditions.
Topsheet
20-30% Recycled Content
Graphics
Eliminated printing chemicals - uses more eco-friendly inks then traditional printing methods
Additional Features
Gondola Package - Setting the benchmark with boards that are lighter, faster, and stronger for more air, quicker turns, and more fun no matter what the terrain or conditions
Binding Compatibility
The Channel - Gives you the ability to micro adjust your stance and is compatible with Burton EST™, Re:Flex™ and Disc bindings, as well as bindings from Forum, Drake, Union, Flow, Flux, Ride, and K2 with adapter

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Roc/Cam/Roc/Cam/Roc
    Roc/Cam/Roc/Cam/Roc
This is a blend of camber and rocker, for the best of both worlds: rocker overall, including between and outside your feet, enhances playfulness and float. Underneath the bindings there are camber zones for focused edge-control for added pop and power through turns.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.

Comments about Burton Custom Flying V Wide Snowboard 2013:

Hands down one of the best all-mountain boards you can buy. Perfect for beginner/intermediate level riders, the rocker camber yields a board that's both playful and forgiving yet still responsive when you really want to dig in. Great for the pow and the icy conditions we can see here on the East Coast / Midwest.

That being said, if you are an advanced/expert rider who likes to go FAST (think double blacks in Denver fast) and ripping huge carves, this would NOT be my first choice. Go for the Custom X.

That being said, I absolutely love my Flying V and it will be the workhorse of my arsenal for a LONG time to come. Get this board now - you won't regret it.

I've used this board in deep powder, in the park, and on the pipe. Very versatile riding. Could be a little more flexible for freestyle but its not bad at all

Board is great. Never owned a board and could tell the difference after riding one day. The Burton binding system is really easy to install and allows for a very custom stance.

          Smooth and Stable

          By Joe

          from Stevens Pass

Comments about Burton Custom Flying V Wide Snowboard 2013:

Flying V makes powder easy and holds a carve like it's on rails. I felt the overall stiffness left a bit to be desired but prefer big stiff sticks. Still a fun ride.
