Bataleon Goliath Snowboard 2013

Like a PBR or a Busch Lite at a college party the Bataleon Goliath Snowboard fits perfectly in anyone's hands (but we suggest you wear it on your feet, it is a snowboard after all). Constructed with a medium flex and sintered base, you're getting a ride that is perfect for the entire mountain and is almost certainly going to be faster then anyone else you come across on the slopes. Whether you're shotgunning rails or chugging powder lines, the Goliath will keep you on the edge of your seat all day long.
Rocker Type
Triple Base Technology (TBT™) - The side bases have gradually increasing angles starting from flat in the binding area, to maximum lift at the widest points. This makes the board forgiving when ridden flat, but still super grippy when put on the edge. Combining a full tip to tail classic camber with a rail to rail concave, it blends the looseness of a rocker shape board with the pop and response of camber. The unique thing about TBT™ is that even when the rider's weight is pushing down on the board the edges stay lifted. On edge the camber is loaded ready to pop you into your next turn. Meanwhile the edge is fully engaged with a solid power distribution along a smooth edge curve.
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft – 10 Stiff) - 5, perfect for all-mountain riding
Shape
FREESTYLE TBT™ - Shaped to hit everything on the mountain giving you fast edge to edge transfer, freestyle looseness and overall stability
Core
Core Core - Poplar core with hardwood enforcements along the insert rows increases the core strength of your board and channels all energy into more pop.
Laminates
Tri-Ax Laminate - Triaxial laminates over and under the core deliver precision in your riding.
Base
Sintered Base - With great wax absorption that is as tough as nails, this base comes with factory wax infused. Wax your sintered base regularly to get the most bang for your buck.
Edges
Lightning Edge - Enables you to carve with more feeling and precision
Edge Bevel - All Bataleon boards leave the factory with a 2-3˚ edge bevel for an ultra smooth ride straight out of the plastic.
Binding Compatibility
Party Pattern - A 2x4 insert pack makes every time you put your bindings on a party. Wide stance range with fine tuning

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
    Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker shapes seek to give you both hard-carving edgehold on firm snow from camber underfoot with enhanced turnability and float in powder from the rockered tip and tail. This profile is increasingly popular for freeride boards designed primarily for soft snow.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.

Comments about Bataleon Goliath Snowboard 2013:

I'm on my second goliath, the first one lasted nearly 100 days of riding and is still very rideable but it was time for a new one. TBT is excellent for being both catch free and stable at high speeds (but I'll admit it takes a little to get used to the different feel vs. a traditional cambered board). The edge to edge transition does take a little more work than on a camber or rocker, but the grip once there is worth it. TBT crushes powder but can also do very well on nasty ice. Its just all around a great board. Sure others can do a few things better but TBT is the complete package.

Far from Goliath

Comments about Bataleon Goliath Snowboard 2013:

I will admit I have been on the fence as far as the true value of Bataleon's Triple Base Tech. And after this shred sesh, I know what side I stand on. I will not deny that there is a place for TBT, but that place is not under my feet. First off, getting edge to edge takes quite a bit more effort and down right difficult when getting around via one foot. I lost much of my confidence at speed and didn't think I picked up a whole lot in return. Sure the deck was more buttery, but it was not ideal for an all-mountain shred stick. If I was looking into a board that could be overly catch-free and a bit stiffer, the Goliath might work out. But if I wanted to maintain get edge hold and be able to rail turns as well as feel confident in mixed conditions, I would go a different direction.
