Burton Imperial Snowboard Boots 2013

Burton has given us, mere mortals, a shoe fit for the gods! The Burton Imperial Snowboard Boots are so full of features and comfort, they will make you feel like you are soaring in the clouds all day long. Featuring Burton's Shrinkage™ Footprint Reduction Technology, Speed Zone™ Lacing, and Total Comfort Construction, the Imperial Leather boots will take your riding up to a Herculean level. Ridden by Mark Sollors, the Burton Imperial Snowboard Boots stacked performance package includes extra-grippy Vibram® soles, footprint reducing Shrinkage™, sensation-enhancing cushioning with EST™, and S4 to prevent flex breakdown.
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 7, perfect for all-day comfort and a stiffer more responsive performance
S4 Shells - Superlight and resilient, S4 shell panels evenly distribute strap pressure to maximize rebound and resist breakdown for consistent flex, season after season.
Lightweight Power Panels - To ensure consistent flex from day 1 to 100, this boot features strategically placed Power Panels that return to their original position even after being deeply flexed.
Fit
Medium Flex 3D® Molded Tongues - Adjusting the profile of the tongue’s thickness controls its flex, enhances its ability to wrap the forefoot and reduces shell/liner stack-up for improved comfort.
Focus Cuff - Boosting heel-hold by hugging that sweet spot around your ankle, the Focus Cuff rides slightly higher on your ankle for increased response.
Shrinkage™ Footprint Reduction Technology - This reduces the boot's overall footprint one size, meaning a men's size 10 fits like a size 10, but has the footprint of a typical size 9. Shorter, lighter, and sleeker means that you will never have to suffer from toe drag again.
VELCRO® Brand Fastener J-Bar Interface - This interface is located in the heel pocket for added support.
Total Comfort Construction - An instantly broken-in feel right out of the box
Liner
Imprint™ 3 Liner
Heat Moldable - Whether you have funky cankles or a grotesque sixth toe, your feet will be wrapped with comfort in this boot. Ride them right out of the box or shape them to your foot with Burton's EMU heat-molding system, found at your local shop.
Rad Pad - This cushioning is located on the top of your instep, right where the liner laces exert the most pressure. These pre-curved panels keep your feet stoked and secure.
Inner Lace Lock - Quick-lock design keeps your heels locked down all day. Exit's a cinch with the one-handed release tab.
Sock Lock - This directional fiber lining allows your feet to easily slide into place and stay in place all day.
VELCRO® Brand Fastener Liner Closure - This secures the liner in place around your foot. J-Bar adjustable heel system slides into the heel pocket for added support.
Lacing System
Speed Zone™ Lacing - Customize the fit of the upper and lower zone in seconds, allowing for a lightning fast lace up. With less effort you get more rebound, more wrap, and better response. Used by stunt men, firefighters, and rescue teams, this lace material is virtually indestructible.
Footbed
Level 2 Molded EVA Footbed with ESS Support Shank
Aegis™ Antimicrobial Coating - Inhibits foul odors
Sole
EST™ Optimized Midsole - This low-profile midsole goes beyond normal bindings by optimizing the soles on select boots for a more direct connection. Lower-profile, lighter weight, and with a reduced ramp angle, EST lowers your center of gravity and improves feel. All without sacrificing an ounce of cushioning thanks to ultra-dampening B3 Gel inserts.
Vibram® EcoStep™ Rubber Outsole - Get the legendary grip and feel Vibram® is famous for in a lighter weight, 30% recycled construction. Includes the added rebound and cushioning of dual zone EVA.
Rubber Ice Spikes - Soft and grippy with stiffer spikes that dig into ice when slipping isn't an option
B3 Gel - This gel is placed in the heel and toe for ultimate dampening formulated to withstand repeated impacts without breaking down.
Additional Features
Snow-Proof Internal Gusset - Features internal gusset construction to completely seal the lower zone of the boot, keeping feet warm and dry

Specs

  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Flex Rating: Stiff
    Stiff
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.

Comments about Burton Imperial Snowboard Boots 2013:

I haven't replaced my snowboard boots in a LONG time and was blown away by how much the tech has improved. These boots are about 25% as heavy as the Burton Rulers i'm trading out and the Boa lacing system has eliminated the only part I dread about riding -- getting in and out of my boots.

After an EPIC trip to Vail (3+ ft of powder on day one) I can confirm these boots are awesome and I am stoked on the purchase.

The only con I would add would be that the right ankle is a bit tight and gets sore towards the end of a long day. I assume that will go away as the padding forms to my feet.

Comments about Burton Imperial Snowboard Boots 2013:

Great pair of snowboarding boots. I'm a very experienced rider, but mostly just do all-mountain riding at this point in my life. These boots fit the bill perfectly. Very responsive, but not too stiff. Comfortable and nifty lace-up technology. Sizing definitely runs on the small size. I usually wear about 9.5-10 in sneakers and I ended up wearing a 10.5 in these boots (wearing only 1 wool sock).

Comments about Burton Imperial Snowboard Boots 2013:

Without having to spend an arm and a leg, the imperial boots provide excellent support and ease of use. They are firm, but comfortable enough for all day use. I usually get to the mountain at opening and stay about 6 hours with a half hour break. These make my time on the mountain much more enjoyable. The speed lace system works great. I still haven't completely broken them in, so when I have to readjust on the mountain it is very easily done due to the lace system. Certainly not as easy to adjust as BOA, but less chance for mechanical failure. The boots also grip the snow excellently, I have yet to slide when getting into the lift.
