Union Contact Pro Snowboard Bindings 2013

The Union Contact Pro Snowboard Bindings are the reigning monsters in this industry with sheer lightweight, dead-on response, and prime performance. Gigi Rüf tested and approved, you know that these bindings are truly profesh in all aspects. Some chief components include: the triple zone injected EVA bushings for superlative dampening, contact pro Dupont™ Sytel® ST highbacks for maintaining flexibility and stability in all conditions, and CNC machined heelcups that drastically reduce the overall weight. Can't wait to get down and thrash on these bossy bindings? Neither can we.
Baseplate
Carbon Injected Contact Base - Maximizes true board flex and overall comfort with Dupont™ Sytel® ST and a lifetime warranty
Dupont™ Zytel® ST - The highest-quality nylon, used on all Union baseplates, results in strength, safety, security and the confidence of a lifetime warranty.
Triple Zone Injected EVA Bushings - Three separate zones provide supreme dampening underfoot to promote a more comfortable ride and a smooth, even board flex with no dead spots. Each size comes with its own durometer for custom performance.
Universal Discs
Straps
Injected Magnesium Buckles - The magnesium in the buckles is four times the strength of aluminum with only half the weight. Plus, it is easily recycled.
All-New 3D Direct-Connect Strap System - Multi-Layer Tapered Strap Core evenly distributes pressure.
All-New Open Toe Straps - Multi-positional options with open Ultra Grip™ Design
Tool-Free Size Adjustment
Highback
Contact Pro Dupont™ Zytel® ST Highbacks - Incredibly light and comfortable—Gigi Rüf approved; made of Dupont™ Sytel® ST for maintaining flexibility and strength in the widest range of temperatures
Shift-on-the-Fly Forward Lean
Additional Features
Grade 8.8 Hardware - The most commonly used hardware is made from "mild steel" that has a property class of only 4.6. Considering how much stress a binding goes through, Union uses only the highest-strength steel, with a property class of 8.8.
CNC Machined Heelcups - The CNC process removes material to reduce overall weight while maintaining strength.

My first set of Union Bindings and they live up to the hype and the other reviews. Took awhile to set up, but the set up and seeing how the bindings are put together was pretty fun. You can tell the bindings are solid. They ride great and for a softer binding, they respond well and are comfortable. The toe strap release is confounding. Sometimes the release is real smooth, other times it is not. However, even when it's not, it's not a big deal. I understand they have a new ratchet for next year, so I might swap it out. The cool thing about Unions is you can really make them your own and franken them out.

Solid bindings a little flimsy on highback but good for maneuvering. Toe starps hold well don't slide up. Easy to adjust.

      Union Contact Pro

Comments about Union Contact Pro Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I'm an aggressive rider who likes a softer flex and these bindings met my needs and style well. However I am an 11 foot and rode a M/L. I'd recommend a L/XL as the M/L was slightly too small and put pressure and hotspots in wrong areas on the foot.

Comments about Union Contact Pro Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I like my bindings simple, strong, lightweight and easy to get into and out of. The Contact Pros deliver on all counts. I've been riding Union Bindings for years and love them. Solid and simple construction that lasts. Compared to the Atlas (which i also rode quite a bit this year) the Contact Pros are easier flexing side to side so you're going to have an easier time buttering and pulling off silky smooth tricks in the park. Highly recommend these and all Union bindings (no I do not work for them).

Flexible, mid stiff highback was a perfect fit for jibbing around the mountain. It had enough support when cruising fast, but not enough to be annoying when trying to balance on a feature that is over my head. Plush padding on the straps and ratchets held super tight. The only critique worth mentioning is the toe ratchet could take a few tries to release but it is only minor, and I'd rather it be too hard to release than too easy.

I have size 11 boot and after adjusting the straps to fit, the bindings worked very well. Honestly I forgot all about them while I was lapping through the park and blazing groomers. All of which I think is a good thing. Over all the bindings have a great flexy soft feel with enough stiffness in and out of turns and up the sidewalls of the park.
