Comments about Union Atlas Snowboard Bindings 2013:

Rider type: Intermediate with mostly ungroomed runs and some park riding. High speeds are preferred as well as tree riding, when possible.

    Overall:
I really like these bindings and would absolutely buy them again. Everything about them is excellent, with one minor issue that may/may not be an issue (see toe strap comment)

    Flex:
They are flexible side-side for park and for those rough ungroomed runs. Yet, they are stiff when flexing directly back to a heel side turn and are very responsive that way. They are also responsive for toe-side turn - I recommend adjusting the High-Back forward slightly to get better response (done with a quick flip of the high-back latch)

    Other:
They are also very lightweight and look fantastic. My foot is 8.5 Wide and the M/L size fits perfectly. The metallic blue look particularly nice in the sun, better than they do in the online images.

    Straps:
The ankle straps are easy to get on/off and they do not put any excess pressure on my foot so that I can latch them down tightly without any issues. They are also nice and wide which I think contributes to the lack of pinch points and also provides better toe-side response than other bindings. However, the toe straps are a bit tough. At first they are so stiff that it is difficult to get them off when you latch them down tightly. They break in after a while and become easier but they are still sometimes difficult to undo - occasionally, I need to pull hard to undo them. In addition, I find that my toe straps will periodically slide up on top of my boot, so I need to check them each run to make sure that they didn't, because I prefer to ride with them in the down position. Even when this happens mid-run, I really didn't notice any difference in control, so it's not a big deal at all.

    Adjustability:
    Great on all aspects:
    - toe strap can be worn on top or at a 45 degree angle, and it can be slid forward or back ward to accomodate each style. In addition it is easy to adjust to accomodate a larger or short foot
    - Ankle strap is easy to adjust for larger or smaller foot
    - High-back can be adjusted in seconds to give you zero forward lean or a lot of forward lean
    - Toe pad accelerator (under toe part of your boot) is easy to adjust in or out
    - Heel cup is really easy to adjust in/out as well

Comments about Union Atlas Snowboard Bindings 2013:

Solid binding, but really lightweaight. The ratchets werequick releasing and held really well. For all mountian jibbing/cruising, these are definitely the right choice. Padding like your Grandma's hug- soft but almost to comfortable to be okay. Toe Release wasn;t always responsive. Tool-Less adjustment is quick and easy.

Comments about Union Atlas Snowboard Bindings 2013:

Seems like everything Union makes is a solid binding, and the Atlas is no exception. Great build, super tough, comfortable even after riding all day. My one mini complaint is the toe ratchets didn't release very easily every time, and it took a 2nd or 3rd try to get them to release. All other components worked great, and overall I was very impressed.

Comments about Union Atlas Snowboard Bindings 2013:

These bindings are pretty much awesome. Was a bit worried which size to get, but with a 8.5 boot I got the med/lrg and they fit perfect. Other than that they are built great, adjustable, and you don't have to rachet them down super tight to feel like your in your bindings good. They hold your boot in amazing. Some people have said that the rachets can be a little tough to undo, which to a point is true. But after just doing and undoing for awhile they loosen up and the trick is to push them a bit towards the tight side and down, then they will slide right off.

Comments about Union Atlas Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I was looking for an upgrade form an old pair of Flows that were on my old board. Decided it was time to grow with my gear and chose these. I had been looking at Union for sometime and decided on the Atlas. The green color scheme was great for my setup and the adjustability/construction is great, especially for my size 13 boot. They definitely were great with the V rocker board I bought as well. No hot spots, and for once I felt a great connection through my board.

I will say that there can be an issue with releasing the toe strap. It can be a bit tight, but I realize a couple of things: you don't need to over tighten the toe straps on these and if take the time and adjust the bindings to the boot properly, it mitigates it mostly. Anytime I get some resistance is if I try to open too fast/in a hurry. Solid bindings. Its a shame I only got a couple uses with these. Can't wait till next season!

Comments about Union Atlas Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I bought these binding due to the many positive reviews I have read. I was primarily deciding between these and the Burton Cartels, and figured I would branch out.

Overall, I am very satisfied with these bindings, but my qualms are the same you will see elsewhere online. #1 - The toe straps are very difficult to release. I found that I frequently had to slide the strap toward my laces to release some tension so I could then release them. Once, while trying to remove these on the mountain without gloves on I sliced my finger open on the ratchet and bled quite a bit. #2 - The toe cap does not actually stay on the toe of the boot very well. Once I got all the other straps adjusted, the caps tended to stay in place, but I probably had to adjust them 4-5 x per day. Does this have a big impact on control or feel? Probably not, but I do find it very frustrating.

Now to the good stuff. These are definitely "bomb proof". I have only used them one season, but they still look perfect. They are lightweight and have a very responsive feel. They are best for all mountain use. Adjusting the fit of the binding is a snap, and you can easily do it all on the mountain.

I would buy these again, but am considering putting some Burton toe caps on.

Comments about Union Atlas Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I am an advanced rider that rides everything but the park. I've ridden these in slush, powder, steeps, bumps and groom. They feel great, and fit well. I wear a size 10.5-11 boot. There are mixed reviews about the convenience of releasing the toe strap. I had a little trouble the first couple days with releasing the toe strap on my front foot at the end of the day. The last couple days however, have not been a problem. I think that they have broken in. I can't tell if their stiff or soft. I would say just right for me. They are light, and very well built. There have also been some complaints about the ankle strap adjuster screw coming loose. I set mine up, then used blue loctite and haven't had a problem. The toe straps are shaped a little odd, but once broken in, they form great to the front of the boot. At this point I would buy another pair. They don't however come with a leash.

Toe strap is hard to release on one of the bindings. I'm sure this issue will go away with use. Great bindings so far.

The binding is a great binding and I only have 2 negative comments... Everything else is really great. I had read about unions toe strap release problems and I too am finding it difficult to release but I think there is a trick. You need to push the release lever down towards the boot first and hear a click or snap and then it releases easy. I'm still fining this and so the release is occasionally tricky. Second, on my 3rd day of using them and while boarding in Park city, the self locking screw on the ankle strap fell off somewhere even though I had checked earlier that day. I was surprised and annoyed. I got a replacement at a repair shop and the guy said it happens all the time.

Great binding, light and great but to be honest the ratchets feel flimsy and my first day out the thumb screw on the ankle strap came loose and feel out. Could not find it so my day was over!!! So make sure you have extra. great binding just poor construction

One of my favorite bindings made. So much control. So light. Fits perfect with a 32 Boot. Only recommendation is to change the hardware design on the straps. they come loose all the time. Overall great though.

Could definitely feel some response w/ these bindings. They felt very compaitble with the CAPiTA Black Death I was on. I ride a lot of park there fore I prefer a mid flex binding but I felt that the atlas would be a fairly versatile binding. Definitely for an intermediate/advanced rider.
