Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013

So you want to hit the park but are worried a classic Flow binding is to heavy for you to throw down with the best of 'em? The Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Binding combines both the Hybrid PowerCapStrap and N.A.S.T.Y. to give you both a lightweight and extremely hi-tech binding. A KushControl hibackpad and ModBack combine to offer a secure boot fit while also keeping your feet amazingly comfortable. Whether you're throwin' down in the park or taking over the backcountry the Flow NX2-SE will keep you ahead of the competition.
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 5 Stiff) - 4, effortless response and board control
Baseplate
BankBeds - Full length EVA footbeds with a 2.5˚ canting and adjustable toe-ramp to optimize fit, support and energy transfer
OC-Kush - Pop-through cushioning dampens landings, absorbs chatter and fits perfectly to the rockered baseplate shape for efficient energy transfer.
Rockered Baseplate - Engineered to transfer your power directly to the board without losing response time by minimizing contact area with the board - this also allows your board to have maximum flex
Apex.6 SupportPanel - 4-Way adjustable panel made of glass-filled Nylon for extra responsiveness and geared toward freestyle riding
Straps
N.A.S.T.Y. Strap - New Active Strap Technology automatically lifts up when you open the reclining hiback and actively tightens again when you close the hiback. This reduces tension and creates more room when getting in and out of the binding.
Hybrid PowerCapStrap - This revolutionary hybrid between the Flow SpeedEntry and 2-strap SideEntry merges the best of both worlds. A 3D-shaped anklestrap diagonally covers the mid-foot for pressure distribution and energy transfer to the toe side through the 3-point VeeToe mounting. A toe cap delivers perfect boot positioning for control.
LSR-Buckles - LockingSlapRatchet-buckles give you the ability to make on-the-fly adjustments with the large ratchet-levers and enable you to easily go in and out in seconds.
Highback
ModBack Hiback - Using a reliable aluminum alloy heelcup and separating the lower/upper zones that use independently adjustable SupportPanels to deliver a fine tuned performance
KushControl - EVA wrapped hiback pads for superior comfort

This is the 5th pair of flow bindings I've owned in the past 13 years. I've owned/tried other strap bindings and keep buying flow bindings. These work well with Salomon boots (Salomons fit my feet, other boots should work just as well). These top of the flow lineup freestyle bindings are just the right blend of stiffness and flex for me. I've owned the freeride flow bindings but found them too stiff for most riding (very little ankle flex, great for high speed). The addition of the ratchet straps on the toe cap is an awesome addition to these bindings. It makes for really quick adjustments with your boot in the binding, just like normal strap bindings.

The missing star is for the graphics. Flow, please just make a binding w/o the steez for those of us who want to look normal.

Binding kept on opening in deep powder releasing my feet. Happened on both left and right bindings repeatedly but thankfully not at the same time. I think that when I was riding powder that came up as high as the high back or making hard turns that dropped the high back into powder, the snow would catch on the rear release latch and pop the back open. I don't know if this is due to a defective product or just a bad design but it constantly happened on the two days that I rode on them. After the first time it popped open on me I made sure that there was no snow caught between the latch so I'm sure it wasn't that causing my problem.

Overall the binding was comfortable and didn't pop open when I was cruising hard pack or cat tracks so if you only ride that, it may be okay for you.

Comments about Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I had to switch from regular 2 strap bindings because I have 2 screws and a titanium rod in my Tibia. Unfortunately the screws are right where the top strap goes on a traditional two strap binding and they would dig in and really hurt. In comes Flow bindings. I started with the Five bindings from 2007. They didn't hurt like other traditional ones. I didn't feel they offered the exact control (pretty close) but I could use them.

No longer, with the N.A.S.T.Y system and the toe strap, they give all the control of any two strap system with the added benefit of fast easy entry. Back to back with my old flow fives, there is no comparison. Great job FLOW! Only complaint is like above. I could do without the Mountain Dew'd up color scheme as one of my co-workers put it.

Comments about Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I really like the adjustability of this binding. You can lock the high back in place and use this binding like a traditional binding if needed, such strapping in on steep grade where you need to sit down. I found this binding to be plenty stiff and tightly holds me in place on my board. The only downside that I've noticed is the time it took to set the bindings up so that stepping in and out of the bindings was fast and easy. Once they were set up they have worked perfectly. No more sitting down to strap in and then struggling to stand back up.

Comments about Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I just got these to replace my old flows. They are much faster to put on and to adjust. The buckle adjustments setting did keep moving on me when I was on the lift and my boot was out of them, so I had to re-adjust them at the top. These was a little annoying at first but even with re-adjusting the buckle, I was up and going faster then the other boarders on the hill.

Comments about Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013:

Super high quality bindings that once you've teched out to your exact preferences, are incredibly easy and quick to get in and out of on the mountain. You'll certainly be the first down the hill, or at least the first to let out the impatient sigh as your friends are sitting and strapping up.

People are hating on the color scheme, but obviously thats entirely a preference and setup thing. I actually was turned on to these by the color palette. Look great in person and those purple/pink locking tabs highlight the bindings and set them off.

Certainly takes a bit of time to set up, so make sure you set about 1-2 hours to try on and tweak to your exact preference in your living room before going out. Don't just drop your boots in - be sure to put them on. The toe straps get surprisingly tight and can get aggressive until you dial it in.

The largest downfall to me has to do with sizing. I wear 12s and the XLs are at the maximum size for my toestraps. My boots fit too tight and these guys only accentuate the pressure on the tip of my feet. If you wear anything above a 12 don't expect these to go over your toes easily.

Also, if you like your highbacks super aggressive, these don't seem to adjust as far as others. However, I think that might be an issue with most step-ins.

Had trouble getting in with the fold down high backs..wearing size 12 Nike Vapen boots and an XL binding. Tried to set the bindings up multiple times to make it right to no avail...very unfortunate because they rode beautifully. I had to enter/exit traditional style witch also wasn't easy with these.

Comments about Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013:

I like these bindings but they are a little on the heavy side compared to by Burton Prophecy bindings. Felt good at high speeds and dampened the ride. I adjusted the forward lean as far forward as the binding would allow me to, but it was not enough for my preference. The toe cap could be a little bigger. Overall a good binding for me. I like to carve and bomb down the mountain (I don't ride in the park).

I was surprised how much effort it took to dial these in. Also, by being so much more locked down I've had to change my ridding style to match. Basically these bindings provide a much quicker response rate toe and heel than my older Flows. I'm still perfecting putting in my back foot while moving. I'm 52 been ridding snow since age 5 average 30 + days a year.

Comments about Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013:

If you think that you can set these once and forget about them, you're wrong. The front strap always hits something (like your boot or someone else's board) and when placing the boot back in, it doesn't fit. I have figured out a way where they are more convenient but it does require readjusting the straps every time. I expected them to be much quicker to get in n out of, but they are still faster than regular bindings. Comfort was not awesome, even when adjusting the all day. Over all, they're ok bindings.

Still way quicker than regular bindings for getting on and off. Way more responsive than regular flow. But the highback pad is constructed poorly an broke off the first day. However it breaking didn't affect the binding from operation. Was still able to finish the day with them.

Comments about Flow NX2-SE Snowboard Bindings 2013:

These are my first set of Flow bindings. First day out had a really hard time getting into the bindings using the back entry, basically had to open the power strapes to get my boot in.

After that day, watched the videos on the Flow website and made the required adjustements so that the boots would go in easy. The screws on the left binding were very difficult to remove, to the point that I brought the binding into the machine shop at work to get them out. The screws came out but got destoryed in the process. E-mailed Flow to get new screws and they never responded back. Picked up replacement screws for about a buck at the local hardware store.

Now the binding work perfectly. Super easy/fast to get into and out of. Feel good all day on the slopes. Just a couple of growing pains getting them set up properly, otherwise they would be 5 star for sure.

These are my first flow bindings and I am quite pleased with them. They are perfectly snug and give me lots of control with tons of comfort. When it came to knee high powder I was able to use them like regular strap in bindings which is a great upgrade. Powder to park these bindings have impressed me very much. They are very versatile and did I mention they are extremely comfortable? Compared to my all plastic bindings they are a bit heavier, but the response I get is worth the extra weight. They also don't inhibit the flexibility of my board. I have these mounted on a GNU Carbon Credit Series 150. There are also several different adjustments you can make to the bad boys which can take a few runs to get dialed in. But once they are dialed in you'll forget they are on your boots and its awesome.
