Volkl Ledge Skis 2013

Give yourself a foot up on the competition with the Volkl Ledge Skis. Powered by Tip and Tail Rocker, you’ll find smooth turns, energized acceleration, and poppy rebound. The vertical sidewalls and torsion box provide you with grip, stability, and smoothness. What better gift could you give yourself than the power and control offered by the Ledge skis?
Shape
Tip and Tail Rocker - Gives the ski a slight rocker bend in the tip and tail complemented by traditional camber under foot. This slight rocker combined with the classic camber gives you the ideal blend for frontside carving. Easy, smooth turn entry and exit, with acceleration and rebound as well. While not as maneuverable in soft snow as our full rocker designs, this rocker design works well on hard snow or in the park and pipe.
Symmetrical sidecut
Construction
Multi-layer Sensorwood is CNC milled using vertically laminated Poplar and Beech wood.
Power/Tough Box - Volkl’s longest-running construction that utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. This construction provides tremendous grip, stability, and a smooth ride.
Binding Compatibility
Bindings not included. We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15mm wider.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Park & Pipe
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
    Park & Pipe
Park and pipe skis, often called freestyle skis, are for skiers who spend the majority of their time on jumps, rails, and jibs of all kinds. Traditionally park and pipe skis have narrower waists with full camber profiles, but this category is incorporating more rocker patterns and different shapes. You will almost always find these skis with twin tips as well as other park specific features like thicker, more durable edges, dense extruded bases, and butter zones.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
    Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as will as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
  • Turning Radius: Medium
    Medium
17-22 m radius is best for all-mountain and park & pipe.
  • Core/Laminates: Wood
  • Tail Type: Full Twin Tip
    Full Twin Tip
Desinged to allow you to ski backwards, full twin tips are found primarily on park & pipe skis and freestyle powder skis. More and more, we are seeing twin tips on all-mountain skis of all abilities, as it makes it a little easier to get around, and for the most part does not inhibit forward skiing.

Comments about Volkl Ledge Skis 2013:

This was my first pair of park skis, I bought them three years ago and I love them! They bend really well and are pretty forgiving with jumps and rails. They have held up extremely well and I ski at least four times a week in the park all season AND I have replaced the bindings on them and they still kill it. The only problem is on the old set I have the top sheet is pretty torn up after a few years of use.

Sweet park ski, fun to play around with on the groom and in the pow!

Comments about Volkl Ledge Skis 2013:

Obviously you don't wanna get these, if you are a downhill racer, but it really surprised me, how good they were on the groomed. I had the Nordica Ace earlier (my first twintip), and i hated that ski outside the park, but the Ledge is so different. If i should get only one pair to ride all over, this would be it for sure. This ski is packed with fun, and once you start riding it, you will start loving it.
This is my first Volkl ski, and i heard about the Volkl grip, and must say this has it too.
