Product Details

Rocker Type

Twin RockerLong, medium height rocker profile at the tip and tail enables easy pivoting with maximum floatation and maneuverability in powder. The ski retains a long contact zone on edge with camber in the middle of the ski for stability and edge grip.

Carve ZoneThe traditionally cambered section of twin rocker skis, where the sidecut is focused for more power, energy and edge grip.

Shape

Spaceframe 3.0 FRBi-directional design philosophy built to perform in powder and soft snow, thanks to twin rocker and a Koroyd Tip and Tail.

Hook Free TaperThis ski has a 5 point sidecut, where the tip and tail taper in and narrow at the extremities for easier turn initiation and steering in soft and variable snow conditions.

Core

Inverted 3D WoodcoreInternally milled woodcore for optimum stability and rebound that maximizes ski/snow contact and filters vibrations.

Koroyd Honeycomb Tip & TailThe lightest extremities for better flotation, less inertia for easier steering and more control while increasing dampening and shock resistance.

Laminates

CFX SuperfiberA difference you'll feel from the first run. Carbon stringers with interwoven flax fiber create a smoother, damper ride with minimal weight gain.

Titanal Power PlatformEdge-to-edge Titanal insert for maximum under foot power and increased hard snow edging.

Pulse PadTwo layers of rubber elastomer in the tip, tail, and underfoot give shock absorption and improve durability of ski.

Sidewalls

Full Sandwich Sidewall 360°Full sandwich with ABS sidewall construction extending around the entire sidewall length for increased ski/snow contact, added strength and great terrain adaptation.

Edges

Total Edge ReinforcementA fiber reinforcement directly on the edges that provides edge stiffness for improved durability and grip.

Comments about Salomon QST 106 Skis 2017:

Salomon nailed it with this one. The new QST 106 has a huge sweet spot and really nice progressive flex to it. It's a great ski for 90% of conditions for the West Coast skier, and a really nice pow ski for the East Coast. With a giant sweet spot, it's forgiving and easy to ski for intermediate skiers, but still with plenty of power and response for an expert skier to push really hard on the mountain. Nice light build would make this a great combo resort/backcountry ski as well.

Comments about Salomon QST 106 Skis 2017:

The new Salomon QST 106 is a surprisingly powerful ski for how light it is. The new core taht Salomon is using is awesome! Light weight but still torsionally rigid. Also, having the air tip and tail decreases the swing weight making quick tight turns in treed or glade areas easy. 106mm underfoot is plenty wide for float but narrow enough to hold an edge. All in all, this ski is crazy good wether you're looking for a downhill ski or a BC/Sidecountry ski.

Comments about Salomon QST 106 Skis 2017:

I had an opportunity to demo this ski at the tail end of last season in WA state. The day I was on the ski was fairly warm and it was spring. Not a full corn cycle kind of day, but definitely a softer type of snow-pack. I skied primarily on piste, but did take it onto some ungroomed terrain including bumps, small drops, and general "out of bounds" type of trails/terrain.

For starters, the ski is fairly light and looks great. I like the bright solid color scheme as I know it will be easy to locate the ski after an inevitable yard sale while on the hill. I spent my time on a pair of 188s and at 6'2" and about 170 lbs. I would not want to go any shorter. Next, the ski carves incredibly well and turns over easily for a ski of it's waist dimension. It was playful and responsive and a general joy to ski. The rocker/camber profile acts as one would expect and the smooth and predictable turns were a blast underfoot. Last, I am not a park rat by any means, but do enjoy popping small 180s and "playing" on the trail and despite the fact that this is not a true twin (turned up but directional tail) I had no problems whatsoever doing so with this ski.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a really solid all-rounder to tackle just about any terrain you can throw at it you should definitely consider this ski. Among the group I skied with that day it was a crowd favorite and definitely in my top few that I had the privilege of demoing last spring. Well done Salomon.
