Salomon Geisha Skis - Women's 2012: The Salomon Geisha Skis are an everyday twin tip freeride ski designed for aggressive women skiers. With a rockered tip and 97mm in the waist, it’s got great floatation in powder, but it also transitions really well into carving. You can take it in the trees, in the bumps, the backcountry, steeps and bowls, and everywhere on piste and be really happy with this ski. Its also has a bamboo layer and full wood core, which make it really nimble and lively.
Shape
All Terrain Rocker shape in the tip area, with a medium length and low height, enables maximum terrain absorption and easy, progressive turn initiation, without sacrificing stability. An 80% pressure zone when flat precisely transitions to a 95% pressure zone when on edge for performance and precision on all conditions.
Semi Twin Tip tail increases the snow contact and stability at high speeds.
Construction
Edgy Monocoque offers precise edge grip, no excess material, and efficient energy from the skier to the snow for freeskiing.
Basalt layer provides outstanding dampening and vibration resistance.
Edge Armor incorporates an extremely durable polyethylene fiber cord cross-laced between the edges of the skis to increase the edge strength for less edge depression and wrenching.
Wide Edges are thicker for increased durability and improved shock resistance.
Total Edge Reinforcement has a fiber directly on the edges providing edge stiffness for improved durability and grip.
Flex
Full Woodcore from tip to tail offers optimum stability on snow and powerful rebound, which maximizes ski/snow contact and filters vibrations.
Bamboo layer is light and strong and provides liveliness edge to edge.
Double Monocoque is a double layer of fibers for maximum response and edge grip.
Dimensions
18.5m @ 153cm 124/95/114, 20.6m @ 164cm 126/97/116, 23.1m @ 173cm 128/99/118

We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15mm wider.

Not inspired by the Geisha

Comments about Salomon Geisha Skis - Women's 2012:

To be honest, I didn’t enjoy the Geisha as much as I thought I would. Without a doubt, Salomon has been a favorite amongst skiers, but the Geisha lacked some personality. I’m 5’4”, 105 pounds and found this ski to be a bit too stiff. The Geisha is definitely Salomon’s powder ski for the ladies, and the conditions in which I tested the ski in were anything but soft snow. I would like to give the Geisha another try in the setting that it’s meant to be skied in. Regardless, whether it is an epic pow day or not, I like to ride a ski that will be efficient and fun in most conditions.

Comments about Salomon Geisha Skis - Women's 2012:

Didn't enjoy this ski as much as I thought I would - I prefered the Rossi S3's I demo'd much more. Floats well in powder, but that's about all the goodness. Very poor edge grip - the hardpack was frustrating to ski. This ski wants to be pointed down the mountain, so I've had a little more fun just letting it fly. I don't feel like the ride is as smooth as it should be for a ski this width (on the crud), though. Definitely not a do-it-all ski.

The "Ski It All" Ski

By Dr. Sue

from Stevens Pass

Comments about Salomon Geisha Skis - Women's 2012:

It's a "Do everything if you can only have one ski and like off piste" ski. Not "excellent" or "best" at any particular thing BUT above average on everything except probably solid ice. Turns well but not effortless, but also is reliably stable.
