Got my hands on an early release of this ski in Jan 2012. Ski'd about 20 Powder days on it. With the ability to ski fast and in control, turn short or long radius turns on demand and land powder jumps this is probably the powder ski for most. I'v had this thing keeping me on top of 3+ feet of fresh and had the time of my life, then ski'd to the bottom of the mountain in the churned up crud of a rainy valley and been able to stay in control. The one thing that amazed me about this ski the most was its ability to fix my bad landings on jumps. Big tip with a little less on the tail sinks you in for a great fronside landing. Not the ski if its your only pair, but a great ski if your looking for a versatile powder ski to add to your quiver.

I think the S7 is a great ski for someone with very traditional form who is used to a more traditional ski. The S7 has a relatively narrow waist (compared to other powder skis in the same genre) and a much wider tip that gives the ski a somewhat surfy feeling. Despite the tail rocker of the ski, it maintains a lot of effective edge, more than I personally cared for given the dimensions of the ski. The camber and shape both made it a bit too turny for me. Also, while I could see many finding the flex playful and fun, I felt that the tip was extremely soft and had a tendency to chatter on the hardpack. I could see it being a tremendous amount of fun in really deep, light snow though.

Comments about Rossignol S7 Skis 2013:

I have been behind the loop on equipment by 4-10 years. I rented these on a windy powder day at Beaver Creek and they performed like I couldn't believe. I could carve thru hard packed areas and blow thru powder. If a big pile of powder was in my path, I blew right thru without my skis twisting out to the side. Great balance all day. I've been skiing for 47 years and these are best skis I have ever skied on.

This is a super fun ski for just about anyone. Easy to drive, loves to float, and stable enough for variable conditions. I think this is an amazingly fun ski for every day use. I have them in both the 178cm and the 188cm length.

I had to find the 2012 / 2013 version, because the 2014 production of the S7 is way to soft. but this ski is great all around skiing experience.

These skis are an awesome all mountain ski. They slay everything from powder to crud and still make nice GS turns on groomers. They are stable at all speeds unlike most rocker skis. Buy them while you still can!

I've used these for most of two seasons in the BC Kootenay Rockies. I will say this first, these skis want to be in snow, the more the better. Fortunately we have a lot of that. They also want you to go to far off places on the mountain, in the trees, to the outer limits. They are truly a big mountain ski. And for all these purposes, they are a dream. Back on the more travelled runs of the resort, they are excellent in all kinds of conditions. I wouldn't hesitate to call them the only ski you need... if you live in snowier country. I've never complained on groomers, and they hold very well on packed, but this isn't their charm, and there are better sticks out there for this purpose. Note that they are a big ski, and are long, but that said they are very playful and responsive because of the rockered shape. They turn easily. The best part, if you are in your 40s chasing your kids down whatever, these provide the softest landing of anything I've ridden. Drops, jumps, bumps, they forgive your legs, knees and quads. Don't buy them for moguls. Too wide. But you can do moguls if there is snow. Excellent skis. For BC, Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Washington... get a pair!
