This ski is a sleeper, pure fun in all kinds of snow. And in my opinion is probably a better all around and powder ski for most skiers than the S7 or similar 115 plus waisted ski. I demo'ed it alongside the Experience 98 and the S7. I have to say I wanted the S7, but I kept coming back to the S3 because it is just pure fun. Fun on the groomers, fun in the powder, and fun straight lining runs. Although I was pleasantly surprised by how the S7 handled groomed runs, the S3 felt easier to handle and more playful in all conditions. For the average skier (especially east coast skier) who wants a great ski to handle crud and float in powder, while still being fun on the groomed runs my humble opinion is not to be tempted by the super fat ski that is built for the two foot powder day.

This is a great ski. Rossignol has been know to come out with a quiet hero every now and again. One of these in the 2000's was the Bandit B3&B4 FAT series. That ski was soft but stable and performed unexpectedly well in nearly every condition. It became a ski with a cult following and people still search for and will pay $200 for the 2006 models up for auction. Remarkable for a 6 year old ski.
The 2012 S3 is possibly the next ski to achieve "cult" status. It simply makes you a better skier. I demoed these three full days this year and they will be my very first purchase of the New Year!
The tail on these skis stays rock solid edging through hard fast turns but will also follow you unnoticed like a well trained K9 while you float through a couple feet of powder.
But the real value in these skis is that they are fun! They just make skiing all day a joy. Popping through a pocket of trees, blowing across a groomer to get to a diamond, sailing off pillow tops and landing switch. This ski is fun.

Not quite as much rocker, more traditional carve feel. Not as nimble as the S7 in tight spots but floats well and carves easier than the S7. I bit more overall (all-mountain) than the S7.

An amazingly versatile ski that suits me in everything I've thrown at it. I'm 6'1", but at only 150lbs, and the S7s were overkill. Even after a recent 4' storm, I couldn't get the tips to dive under for more than a moment - they just want to ride the surface and push a bow wave of snow. They handle ice with a solid edge, are playful on groomers, push through crud and crust well, all while being a relatively light ski, making them great for a sidecountry AT setup. I noticed I caught my tails a lot the first couple days on them when navigating the lift lines, but I seem to have adjusted to that pretty quickly. The rooster tail effect you get of loose snow coming off the tails when skiing is fun - keeps people back from you.

These skis make me smile every time I ride them. They are perfect for about every situation I've found myself in so far (knee deep powder, trees, bumps and even groomers).

If you're looking for a ski that can do it all...and do it well, then this is it.

The Rossi S3 is a very nimble and easy ski to get used to. Just simply click in, and go. Viola! You are now an expert powder skier. It rails groomers. The tip design along with the rocker in the tip and tail, allows the ski to float and move through the powder with great ease. Crud and cut up snow are very easy to ski. Moguls are very easy, as the ski has a buttery feel and the rockered tail is not hooky, like some twin tips.

The Rossi S3 virtually turns itself. At 98mm underfoot, it delivers surprising performance in true powder (12" or greater), yet retains the quickness needed for glades and bumps. Anyone looking for a one ski quiver should consider the S3.
