Moment Bibby Pro Skis 2013: Change is a constant at Moment. The Moment Bibby Pro Skis have a cult status that’s half a decade strong, but don’t believe for a second that it’s still the same ski from five years ago. Thanks to carbon stringers, core re-profiling, and constant tweaking of the famous Mustache Rocker, this is the lightest and most playful Bibby ever made. Bombing cliffs or hitting booters, forward or switch, there’s never been a big mountain ski as versatile as the Bibby.
Shape
Mustache Rocker profile does it all and does it all well. Positive camber underfoot provides power and edge hold on hard snow, while tip and tail rocker crush variable conditions and give you the loose, playful feel you want in powder.
Early taper for a catch-free, nimble feel
Construction
Flex rating of 8 out of 10 (1 Soft – 10 Stiff)
Moment uses an Aspen/Pine wood core that when used together provide a strong and lively flex. Aspen keeps the ski light and poppy while pine adds strength and rigidity.
Fiberglass Matrix fine-tunes the flex profile of the ski.
Carbon Fiber stringers provide more pop and snap and are extremely strong and lightweight.
Dimensions
21m @ 174cm, 24.5m @ 184cm, 26.5m @ 190cm, 143/116/134 (all sizes)
Additional Features
UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) Sidewalls are extremely light, durable, and resistant to separation.
1.2mm Durasurf 4001 Sintered base can take a beating while staying fast. They are US-made, harder and have better wax absorption than extruded bases. Moment uses sublimated graphics to eliminate the cracking and peeling common on die-cut bases.
VDS Dampening System is placed over the edges and in several other key locations to mellow any harsh vibrations.
2.2mm Rockwell 48 Steel Edge for more strength and durability
Binding Compatibility
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.

Specs

  • Terrain: Big Mountain, Powder
    Big Mountain
Big mountain skis are designed for charging big lines with high speeds and big airs. These skis varry in width from wide, powder-oriented skis for skiing Alaska spines to narrower, mixed condition skis for ripping the beat up headwall at your local mountain. Skis in this category tend to be on the stiffer side, often with more rocker in the tip and less in the tail.
    Powder
These skis are for the deep days. If you like to find powder stashes at your local resort, go on backcountry missions for the freshest of fresh or heli ski trips to BC, powder skis are what you need to stay afloat. Skis in the powder category are wide and most often have some form of rocker or early rise plus a relatively soft flex. Many powder skis today are versatile enough to handle mixed conditions and harder snow.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
    Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as will as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
  • Turning Radius: 24.5m @ 184cm, Long
    Long
    > 22 m radius is best for powder and big-mountain.
  • Core/Laminates: Wood
  • Tail Type: Full Twin Tip
    Full Twin Tip
Desinged to allow you to ski backwards, full twin tips are found primarily on park & pipe skis and freestyle powder skis. More and more, we are seeing twin tips on all-mountain skis of all abilities, as it makes it a little easier to get around, and for the most part does not inhibit forward skiing.
  • Warranty: 1 Year
  • Tip Width (mm): 143
  • Waist Width (mm): 118
  • Tail Width (mm): 134

Comments about Moment Bibby Pro Skis 2013:

This is a great all around ski. I take this ski out anytime there is any new snow. Very agile with great float. Does an admirable job on the groomers as well. It is really fun carving on these skis. The ski is stiffer than your average all mountain/powder skis. It really comes to life once you obtain some speed. Very stable, handles the crud better than any ski I've tried. Definitely a keeper.

Comments about Moment Bibby Pro Skis 2013:

I'm 40+ years, 5'-10" too many lbs. Despite my physical fitness and age, I'm a solid type III skier who keeps my bases on the snow most of the time. I purchase the 184's with Schizo binding mounted in the factory recommended position.

The first day on these skis was at Mt. Bachelor. No new snow in weeks and very icy with horrible visibility. Extremely challenging for everyone on the mountain no matter what skis you were on. However after the snow softened the visibility improved and the Bibby Pros really started to shine. The skis worked amazingly well for it's width as long as you stayed in the drivers seat. Then I moved the binding up +2 cm. Wow, even better! It made them more forgiving, they were very stable at speed and turned like a dream (felt like a Mantra).

The next time I was able to get out, 10" of new snow had fallen in 24 hours (again at Bachelor). I moved my bindings back to the center position and had an awesome day. The float was great in the powder and it blasted through broken terrain. They had a great balance of float in the powder, nimble in the trees and stiffness to crush less than favorable snow. This gave me the confidence to take tighter, more aggressive lines in the trees then I have in the past. Not a good idea when riding by yourself but I couldn't help myself. I wanted to move the bindings back 1-2 cm but I was having too much fun to stop (next powder day).

Matched with the Schizo's I think this could easily be a NW skier's one ski quiver. I was a little concerned the 184's would be too short. Not anymore. The length is perfect for maneuvering through tight places without sacrificing stability or float. I could not be happier with them!

Comments about Moment Bibby Pro Skis 2013:

This ski is absolutely amazing! I ski the East Coast and I have used this ski everyday this season!

These skis hold their own on the groomers and even preform well in the bumps. However, where they really shine is in the pow. The rocker allows for a very surfy feel in powder. Floatation is very good maybe not as good as some wider skis but then again those wider skis are not as versatile as this.

These skis like to go fast but are surprisingly agile in the trees and at slower speeds. I cant say enough about them except I think I will definitely be buying another pair of Moments in the future!!

Comments about Moment Bibby Pro Skis 2013:

After hearing the hype behind the Bibby Pro for the last few years, I finally had the chance to try. Well, believe what you've heard: the Bibby is stable and comfortable all over the mountain. I skied it on a great deep, but heavy powder day and felt smooth throughout. It really shined when it came to skiing on chopped up snow on the way to the good stashes. It was stable and very easy to turn at any speed. It feels liek the kind of ski you can be on all day without getting as tired as you do on some wider or more floppy skis.

Bibby Pro, great all around ski!

          By Webby

Comments about Moment Bibby Pro Skis 2013:

One of the better all around fat skis in the industry, they performed quite well on the groomers and hard pack we had on the day I was able to take them out. Maybe not as energetic and playful as soon of the others in its class, it will still find itself at home in any condition out there. When at higher speeds, they felt very stable with very solid edge control, although I had wished they'd have been a little quicker going from edge to edge. I didn't notice any tip or tail chatter at speed and I found myself very confident on them in every situation I put them through.
