K2 BrightSide Skis - Women's 2012: The new K2 BrightSide Skis are for the skier who spends more time on firm snow, be it in bounds or out, but loves it when the fresh stuff comes down too. Built with a Metal Laminate and a tighter sidecut there won’t be any condition you can’t tame, and with All-Terrain Rocker the BrightSide still stays afloat in powder. Remember, a 90mm waist used to be thought of as a powder ski. Make the K2 SideShow Skis your hardpack skis, everyday skis, or use them as a high performance touring ski since they are surprisingly lightweight.
Shape
All-Terrain Rocker™ is designed for all snow conditions, featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance with camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Progressive Sidecut is a combination of two different radii that enhances the versatility of wider-waist skis. This guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.
Construction
Hybritech Sidewalls are a unique blend of sidewall and cap constructions that combine the accuracy, power, and performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction.
Tip/Tail Hardware - removable plugs reveal holes that can be used to attach K2 Pre-Cut Skins or build a rescue sled
Flex
BioFlex 3 Core (80% Aspen, 20% Paulownia): dense Aspen underfoot fused with lightweight Paulownia at the tip and tail with blended Bamboo throughout for increased performance, strength, and durability with reduced swing weight.
Metal TNC Laminate consists of 2 sheets of lightweight Titanal running the length of the ski. Alternating layers of fiberglass and Titanal sandwich the wood core to provide dampened, accurate, and unshakable performance.
Dimensions
16m @ 167cm 132/90/115 (all sizes)
Binding Compatibility
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15mm wider.

    Comments about K2 Brightside Skis - Women's 2012:

I've skied several times now on my Brightsides in varying conditions and have not one complaint. They are quick to respond and extremely forgiving. They're stiff enough to allow you to carve up the groomed runs with firm edges/little to no chatter, and yet the light weight, reasonable width underfoot, and rocker design helps you float through loose snow. They especially shine in crud or mixed conditions, perfect for a typical day here in the Northwest. I have yet to take them out in deep powder, but I imagine that they'll do pretty well (not as well as a dedicated powder ski perhaps, but that's not what I bought them for!).

Love that K2 managed to minimize the weight without sacrificing performance. Great all-mountain, all-condition ski for the advanced female skier.

      Comments about K2 Brightside Skis - Women's 2012:

I love this ski. It is as close as you can get to an all mountain ski. They work everywhere! The only other ski yo would need is a true race ski for carving and you have a quiver of only 2 pair of skis! I don't ride the park( I am 56), so don't have any info there.
