Product Info

One of the revelations of the spring tests last season, the Elan Ripstick 106 Skis came out on top of several skier's lists in the "Expert All Mountain" category. Plenty of power combined with the ability to mix up your turn shapes in a size that works well in pretty much any snow conditions is a challenge for ski designers, but Elan s nailed it with this ski. Lighter and snappier than you might expect for a ski with this much precision, the Ripstick 106 sports TNT Technology - light composite Vaportip inserts at tip and tail, along with a Tubelite core with tip to tail carbon tubes inside of the wood laminate. Top it off with Elan s radical Amphibio® rocker profile, which gives you camber on your inside edges with subtle rocker on the outsides, and you'll find yourself railing better and faster than ever before without the hesitation you've probably grown accustomed to on your uphill ski.

Product Details

Rocker Type

Amphibio® ProfileElan's unique design uses distinct "Left and Right" camber profiles - camber on the inside edges and rocker on the outside ones. The result is power and precision on the more heavily weighted inside edge with easier pivoting and smoother turn transitions on the outside edge.

Core

Tubelite WoodcoreTo create TubeLite Technology, two super lightweight Carbon tubes are inserted into a laminated woodcore. Measuring 5mm in diameter and hollow in their construction, these tubes run the length of the ski following the arc of the sidecut.

Laminates

VaporTip InsertsStrong and dynamic Tubelite woodcores are paired with lightweight composite Vaportip inserts in the tip and tail of the ski to lighten swing weight and reduce vibration, dramatically improving the ski's ride qualities.

FiberglassPositioned either above or below the ski core, the Fiberglass reinforcement optimizes the flex pattern and enhances torsional stiffness.

Sidewalls

SST Sidewall TechnologyVertically placed ABS above the edges from tip to tail offers direct power transmission from the skier's foot to the edge.

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

This is the most stable and largest sweet spot ski I have skied over 100mm under foot. I was particularly impressed with how smooth they skied.

Comments about Elan Ripstick 106 Skis 2017:

5'9" 135 and I chose to ride the 181. The Ripstick series surprised many people this season and has racked up serious accolades for good reason. The Ripstick 106's agility and carving ability on frontside groomers and tree skiing was impressive. The 106 waist was fast and fun through bumps and chop thanks to Elan's ingenious Amphibio rocker profiling and lightweight construction, making the Ripstick 106 a fantastic choice for an East Coaster's powder ski or a West Coaster's everyday weapon.
