Atomic Blog Skis 2013: The Atomic Blog Skis were born for going big and killing it everywhere from powder days to backcountry booters. Their super-floaty 110mm waist and powder-munching rocker design crave fields and spines steep enough to make a stunt pilot giddy. A tip-to-tail wood core provides a stable, responsive flex and traditional camber underfoot maximizes edge hold and pop. The rockered tip and tail ease upward for flotation in the deep stuff, and a unique Step-Down Sidewall construction places a half-cap construction at the tip and tail for durability and impact resistance. For 2013, Atomic is bringing you the Blog in 4 sizes.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2013:

So I have two seasons under my belt with the Blog. It's got enough camber to cruise around on groomers, enough rocker to float in soft snow. It's forgiving enough that if your not a strong skier you will still have a great time on it. It's softer than the Bent Chetler or the Automatic but it works to it's advantage making it more playful when it hasn't snowed in a bit. It's great in spring slush and I have used it in the park as well. The 185 length is long enough to be stable but still fun. I'm 5'8 around 150 lbs and mount mine at the Team mark for all around versatility.

If you are looking for a ski to really charge on you'll probably be happier on the Automatic. The Blog is more playful at slower speeds and can be used for more freestyle intentions like the Bent Chetler. It has a similar sidecut radius to Chris's ski but seems softer out in the tip and tail. The two are great compliments to each other or the Blog can stand alone with it's versatility. If it hasn't snowed I like it because it has less rocker and matching taper in the tip and tail so when you need it for chasing down the last remaining powder stashes, you can have confidence the edge is there and will hold as you get around the mountain.

I haven't done it but I think touring on this would be awesome. I think it's a good width, it's super light weight, the taper makes it surfer. I think the one hesitation I would have with touring on the Blog is the flex pattern maybe being too soft in the tail when you may come into unexpected variable conditions with high speed you might waiver a bit.

I would totally recommend for the intermediate/advanced skier all the way up to an expert.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2013:

The Blog could be one of the funniest names for a ski, yet tears the mountain with joking. This ski performs excellently through the trees, on crud, and in the backcountry bowls. I have taken this thing to the top of Breck (13000+ft elevation), skied the groomers, and busted some moves in the park. These guys are lighter than my K2 Recoils (jib, all-mountain ski), yet phat enough for the sheer dominance and flotation of the whole mountain. My friend, owner of Armada JJ's, loves this ski almost as much as his JJ's. Almost. Atomic continues to develop some great product here with the Blog. I've skied most every type of ski, and couldn't be happier with this one.

Great all mtn ski. Skis the deep and the steep with ease. I struggled a little bit in the really deep snow but back on the hard pack the ski railed edge to edge. I also like the amount of rocker in the tip.

Nice all around ski for intermediate skiers. More advanced skiers might want something a little sexier. Cuts trough crud and powder well.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2013:

I set my mid boot line for mounting bindings on the furthest dash back, on the rear of ski. I found if you sit way back on tails, the tails will cause you to rare up like a stallion horse. In this rear binding setting, when in powder, you can stand neutral and float sweetly. Leaning forward in 48" fresh powder will submerge about 18". Champaigne powder even deeper. Knee deep powder and you'll be able to see your boots.

Packed powder on-piste trails are a skier's dream on the Blogs. I equate it to having a cheat sheet when taking a test. The sweet spot allows you to come in and out of fresh powder to packed powder without even feeling the least flinch. Crud and corn snow are sooo simple on these skis. I did find the tips chattering when speeding on cruisers.

Bought these for travel skis on a recommendation. Took them out on Killington vt hard pack to check them out. Have now skied them multiple days on true vt hard pack and they are bomber. 5 9 and 170 bought the 185. Have not found the speed limit on these and just love to be pointed Getting strange looks on the chair skiing such huge boards on bulletproof and even better looks as these skis rip huge arcs down the groomed steeps. Can't wait to ski these on western snow. Almost bought the Nordica helldorados but did not want the metal. Have faith. These are game on. Buy them long.

If the 183 Bent Chetlers are surfy and turny , these are too much. Really sensative ski. If your weight is a little off, you spin out. Didn't float as well either. Could have been because it was the end of the day so I was weaker and tired.

Comments about Atomic Blog Skis 2013:

Atomic's Blog is a big 'ol banana of a ski with tons of rocker and very little camber. That said, the Blogs are a geared to toward a singular environment, powder, powder and, yup, powder. Float with ease on the these but be aware of your speed on the groomers as some excessive chattering can ensue as you turn on the jets. The sticks give new meaning to flotation.
