Armada TST (Travis Steeger) Skis 2012: The Armada TST (Travis Steeger) Skis are an all-mountain/big-mountain tool designed to let you explore the entire mountain; air the biggest cliffs, ski the deepest pow, and carve the deepest turns. With Armada’s patented EST All- Mountain Rocker that boasts a progressive tip rocker and no tail rocker, there isn’t a turn or jump on the mountain the TST can’t make. This was the ski Travis Steeger envisioned so next time you find yourself in the middle of a great day, or on a perfect run; un-zip your coat, smile from ear to ear and giv’er for Travis. A portion of the proceeds of the TSTw Skis are donated to Travis Steeger’s Memorial Fund and “Avalanche Awareness Beyond the Boundaries Society.”
Shape
Armada’s patented EST All-Mountain Rocker boasts a progressive tip rocker for flotation in soft snow with positive camber underfoot and in the tail for more stability at high speeds and edge hold on hard pack.
This is a 4-dimension ski where the widest point at the tip is set back closer to the bindings for a tip that easily rises and is hook-free in powder, while the rest of the ski performs well on all snow conditions with traditional sidecut.
Construction
With an AR50 side wall, the ABS sidewall meets Cap construction, combining lightweight Cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot resulting in enhanced edgehold and significantly lower swing and overall weight.
The TST has a 1.7 edge, with the height and width deliberately smaller and the steel heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight.
The 50/50 base is faster than Armada’s S7 base but more rugged than the Comp series, perfect for wider skis.
The Laminate Matrix consists of three kinds of fiberglass laminates are used in combination to deliver the exact amount of flex and torsional rigidity needed in the appropriate places.
A blend of Carbon/Kevlar stringers run along the tail of the ski to stabilize it, creating a better landing platform, increased snap and added pop.
Flex
The Hybrid UltraLight core is made up of select 375kg/m3 wood stringers that have unusually high strength-to-weight ratios so the TST maintains a light but stable feel. ABS layers are pre-installed alongside the core directly underfoot to concentrate the weight of the ski below the boot sole to increase durability and lower swing weight.
Flex Pattern: tip - 6, waist - 7, tail - 6.5 (out of 10)
Dimensions
11.5m @ 156cm 116/129/99/120, 12.6m @ 165cm 117/130/100/121, 14.7m @ 174cm 118/131/101/122, 16.8 @ 183cm 119/132/102/123, 18.9 @ 192cm 120/133/103/124
Binding Compatibility
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15mm wider.

      Good times

Comments about Armada TST (Travis Steeger) Skis 2012:

The TST is one of those skis that can do everything. With tip rocker and a cambered tail this ski can carve gs turns all day on corduroy and through chop and charge past your buddies in the deep stuff. Overall one of the most versatile skis I have ever been on. This would probably be an excellent tourer as well.

Comments about Armada TST (Travis Steeger) Skis 2012:

I Telemark on these skis. Sometimes Parallel. Usually speedy, moderately technical, above treeline, off-piste lines and usually steeper than 35 deg.
      So far:
I have the 193cm length but they feel like a shorter ski, may be the shape and rocker of the shovel. I can make almost any radius turns on the TSTs'. I am suprised and pleased. They more powerful than I expected. On groomers you can really lay them on their sides and they do hold strong, smooth, and predictable edge. Short turns and the longer GS/SG turns are no problem and come on-demand. Need more time on them, though.
Really, nothing bad to say about them except maybe graphics.

super smooth in crud and powder

demoed a lot of rockers and this is the only one that felt great and very stable at speed on the hardpack

Am 5'5", 122 pounds, and am a pretty advanced skier, my other ski is a 154 cm. the 165 cm TST is fine for me

Comments about Armada TST (Travis Steeger) Skis 2012:

Great all around ski. Holds really well on groomers. Blasts through crud snow and gives you enough float in pow. Good length for charging if you want it. Perfect all mountain ski.

This ski rips the whole mountain. Light enough to get good spins but they are really stable on the groomers and charge just as well. Get this ski.

Comments about Armada TST (Travis Steeger) Skis 2012:

This rips everything from deep powder to slushy park. I like how it has a flat tail so it is really stable but the tip rocker makes it good for powder. Great all-mountain ski!

One ski quiver, Stable laying thrench on grooms, easy to turn/set edge. Strong in deep soft snow, good float with tip engaged. Busted through variable snow well (sun baked and heavy) not tested on harder/icy snow. I would ski this everyday.

            Good All-Mountain Ski

            By Eli

            from Stevens Pass

Comments about Armada TST (Travis Steeger) Skis 2012:

For somebody looking for a directional all mountain ski this is a great option. The tail feels solid on groomers, but the rockered tip lets it still hold its own in the soft stuff.
