Armada JJ Skis 2013

So much jamtastic fun, Armada decided one J just wasn't going to cut it! Jack be nimble, but JJ be quick. Armada knew that you needed a powder ski that could make those tight turns fluently and move edge-to-edge, and thus the Armada JJ Skis were born. This is a big in yo' face powder ski that can give you all the powder action you need and leave you with energy to spare.
Rocker Type
EST Freeride Rocker - The best of all worlds. Rockered tips and tails combined with positive camber underfoot to promote flotation in soft snow and provide remarkable edge control on the harder stuff.
Flex
Flex Pattern - Tip: 6, Waist: 7, Tail: 6.5 (1=soft; 10=stiff)
Shape
Tapered Tip and Tail - 5 dimension ski with the tip and tail narrower than the contact points
Dimensions (tip/contact point/waist/contact point/tail) - 126/136/115/133/123 mm
Core
Hybrid Ultralight Core - Ultralight core using select wood stringers that have unusually high strength-to-weight ratios, UltraLight cores allow our widest skis to maintain a light-yet-stable feel.
Laminates
Laminate Matrix - Deliberate directional layering of fiberglass dictates flex pattern and torsional rigidity and allows each ski's flex to be precisely tuned. Bi-axial fiberglass runs in an “x” pattern down the ski to control lateral flex; Uni-directional fiberglass controls flex along the length of the ski; Tri-axial fiberglass, with fibers running in three directions, beefs up the center of the ski.
CK Stringer - Carbon Kevlar combo stringers lie on top of the laminate matrix along the tail to brace the ski. This increases the landing platform, especially when weight is distributed farther back in the ski than intended. It also gives the ski more pop and extends ski life.
Sidewalls
AR50 Sidewall Construction - ABS sidewall meets cap construction – the best of both worlds. This engineering method combines the lightweight cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot, resulting in enhanced edgehold and significantly lower swing and overall weight.
Base
50/50 Base - A blend of speed and durability, this base is faster than Armada’s S7 base but more rugged than the Comp series.
Edges
1.7 Impact Edge - The edge height and width is deliberately smaller and the steel is heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight.
Binding Compatibility
Bindings not included
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

    Back for Another Solid Year

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2013:

The JJ was a ski that when I first tired it 4 years ago it seemed so out of place and so foreign. Today more and more ski designs are being modeled with design features that debuted on the JJ. It was truly ahead of it's time. It's a ski that you don't have to be aggressive on to enjoy but if you are a powerful skier it will reward you with it's quickness edge to edge and naturally short turn radius. It is very stable and damp which inspires confidence skiing through chop as you are able to hold your line and not get deflected around. But the ski is by no means dead feeling. It is relatively light so when combined with it's dampening the ski feels at home at most any speed from soft powder to cruising groomers. The tip and tail taper and rocker profiles make the ski easy to turn and come around in tight situations. I'm really happy a lot of skis companies are adopting variations of this ski. It has generated a whole new wave of skiing design that makes these newer skis more versatile in all conditions and allows you to explore the entire mountain with confidence.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2013:

I demo'd probably 25 different skis over the past year and I kept coming back to the JJs. I primarily ski Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole and Sun Valley. These skis, being powder skis are amazing in all conditions. I just got done burning up the groomers at Sun Valley and had to comment. I bought these for powder days after making the switch from snowboarding the deep stuff to learning how to ski again after the invention of all the wicked cool powder planks out there. I really enjoyed a few other planks out there but these rip everything. They have given me a significant boost of confidence. They float, they carve/smear, they plow through crud. I highly recommend them to anyone that wants to become a better skier in all conditions. Some have said they are not as stiff a ski as they would prefer. I personally am short and lite so they are perfect for me.

When I was skiing on these skis they were amazing and could dominate any groomer with no chatter at all while at the same time being able to rip the powder.

Beverage of Choice, JJ on Ice.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2013:

It was a groomer day to start. With that in mind, a ski with 115+ underfoot IS overkill, but dang these ripped down the runs. Front rockers smash any crud out of the way. I wanted more control in the tail on the groomers thus I ride the TSTs for my everyday ski.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2013:

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this ski! I enjoyed slashing it around in some heavier, crunchy snow, and was happy with how the ski handled all over the mountain. I was surprised at how much effective edge the ski has in comparison to other skis in its class, it carved surprisingly well, though it felt a little turny at times. I had fun with the soft, playful flex as well. I would recommend the JJ to an advanced skier looking for a more forgiving everyday ski that can handle almost anything you throw at it.

Very nice looking and great performance skis, though keep in mind that they are almost specialty as far as width and size. There is a limited ammount of accessories and bindings for this kind of ski. Also, they do skretch kinda fast.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2013:

I first used these skiis in Steamboat with the PowderCats ski company. These skis made powder skiing easy and fun.

Surprisingly..I used them for three more days on the normal runs at Steamboat and they were still awesome on groomers (carved turns) and through the trees in cut up powder. Easy to plow through other tracks without suffering.

Now, I own a pair of AK JJ's, and used them last week in horrible icy conditions at Sun Valley, by skiing off the groomed runs and alongside in moguls and crud and ice...they floated over most of the stuff.

Unbelievably, these skiis carve very well when standing on your heel and pressing maximum ankle pressure forward. Impossible to "boot out" like on racing skiis because they are so wide.

Overall, good for anything if you ski strong....except maybe short radius slalom racing turns. Now, I constantly go off the marked trails and into the woods just "looking" for challenging snow. My friends have even commented it has changed my skiing. More confidence because these skis "float" over stuff like a ski should.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2013:

Playful, great pow ski that can handle the rest of the mountain. The JJ keeps a good edge on groomers and stays stable at high speeds. Shreds pow like it's its job, but on chunder/chopped up snow it can get a little sketchy. Best ski for most days, but not great on icy ones.

Comments about Armada JJ Skis 2013:

I enjoyed how floppy the skis were with the rockered tip/tail. I liked having both ends rockered. Even though the snow was fairly firm while testing them, I still had a great time and was impressed with how they handled choppy/icy/moguls slopes.

Super dooper fun. Strong underfoot for locking in on the groomers but super easy to take anywhere. Wish I had more snow but I am sure it floats like crazy. Great for the trees.
