4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013

Fresh from the feverish brain and nimble feet of Eric Hjorleifson, this ski can perhaps best be described as a sized-down version of the Renegade. The 112 mm waist dimension and rockered profile produce an ideal "quiver-of-one" performer that will turn on a dime in tight spots and carve like crazy on the groomed as well as blast through any kind of 3D snow that blocks your way. The 4FRNT Hoji Skis demand a centered stance and a skilled pilot, but rewards you with do-it-all competence in any conditions. BTW, Hoji sees this ski as a dual-purpose lift-served/touring board . . .
Rocker Type
Reverse Camber - Fully rockered shape with MAYBE a tiny flat spot underfoot supplies the expected primo powder experience, but this ski will carve surprisingly well from a centered stance as well.
Sidecut
Reflect Technology - Sidecut radius is carefully matched to rocker radius to allow the ski to edge smoothly and create predicatable carving in all conditions.
Shape
Tip and Tail Taper - Neutral sidecut length at the tip and tails widest dimensions
A slight tip and tail taper aids in straightline stability and float in powder
Asymmetrical Shaping - Directional shaping that prefers travelling forward
Core
Hi-Lite Core - A blend of poplar and beech makes a core that's snappy, light and durable.
Laminates
Fiberglass Reinforcement - Fiberglass laminates above and below the core
Sidewalls
Semi-Cap Construction - Combines a cap over the top of the ski with sidewalls on top of the edges for the best of both worlds - edgehold AND durability
Base
Sintered Base
Edges
Full-Wrap Edge
Graphics
Hoji brings back a slightly modified version of the original EHP "Pilsner" graphic for his flagship ski
Binding Compatibility
Bindings not included
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

This ski kicks butt

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

this ski kicks but. it holds your line no matter what the conditions. The 187 skied like it was very short and easy to initiate turns with. The funnest ski of the day by far.

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

While I got a few runs in on the Hoji , I hardly got to explore its potential. I don't think I enjoyed them as much as the YLE but they were a perfectly fun ski.

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

Super versatile ski that will turn on a dime and still rail the groomed at speed. I was able to break the tails loose to finish turns in a tight chute and still feel stable on the frozen corn run out. The sweet spot is centered and slightly over the toes. If you stay there they will carve like crazy on the groomed.

Hoji skis

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

The 4FRNT Hoji is one of the lightest, most maneuverable big skis I have ever been on. It super lightweight, and with very early contact points the swing weight is amazing. With a similar full rocker that matches the Renegade, the Hoji feels like a narrower, more nimble version. The unique rocker that matches the sidecut made the Hoji very easy to swivel and turn on a dime. It felt very fast and controllable. I had a lot of fun turning sideways at 40mph without slowing down at all. This would be a great ski for someone who wants to go touring without sacrificing anything on the way down.

An Awesome Ski

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

This is one of those skis that just blew me away in the first few turns. It is a great modern all-around ski. It'll go up and edge and carve. It will slide and smear. I found it both confidence inspiring and forgiving. IF you get careless the Hoji gives you plenty of time to "recenter". The Hoji puts a smile on my face.

Hoji has done it again

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

Eric Hjorleifson has done it again. First an always evolving EHP then the Renegade from 4FRNT. 2012/13 sees his latest work the Hoji, a new shape refining the designs he has put forward in his other models. This ski isn't for the skier who wants to feel the edge engaged from start to finish with every turn. It's for the skier who has modified his or her skiing style to embrace rocker and a loose feeling ski. The loose quality allows the ski to float and turn on a dime in deep snow, if you need to scrub a little spread you can turn them sideways or vary your turn shape around trees an tight spaces without catching an edge. After watching one of Eric's segments you begin to see how a ski like this compliments his skiing style. This may not be the ski for you but for everyone who wants to emulate Hoji's style this is a great place to start.

Hoji Review

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

It's hard to imagine that last year's EHP could be improved but it has been in the Hoji. Adding full rocker, the Hoji is a super turny ski but retains all its bomber qualities from the EHP. Even with the full rocker the ski finds it's edge well and holds it on real hard pack. Chunder and other variant snow are no match for the Hoji. Whether you want to point it and forget it or get as many turns in possible, this ski will do it. It will be hard for me to not get a pair of these.

Awesome ski!!!, Turns tight, cuts through chunder, bombs and stays stable. Light, good construction. Skis groomers well but you need to be aggressive. Awesome rocker profile.

4Frnt Hoji 187cm

Comments about 4FRNT Hoji Skis 2013:

I think this ski is ideal for an expert directional skier who needs a lot of float in exceedingly deep snow. The ski seemed decently agile on the hardpack, but I can imagine how burly and supporitve it would feel charging a steep, scary line. It skis very short, due to the immense amount of rocker!
