Eric Hjorleifson on the EHP 190- This is my idea of the perfect big mountain/resort/backcountry ski, for those who seek the best snow no matter where they ski. This model has enough side cut to make it resort compatible with a shape that allows it to shred everything from pow to crud. Design features: The tips have a 4 cm AFT (the distance between the effective edge contact point and where the turn radius begins). This allows you to initiate your turns in soft snow without looking it hooking up or diving. The 190 has shape that serves two functions. One, a ramped up tail high enough to land and ski switch in all snow conditions. The second being, it was designed for ski touring. By result, this shape has great compatibility with modern skin set ups (no more bending coat hangers to make tip loops for ridiculously blunted tips as well as having to re-attach your tail hooks because they slide off you rounded tails).
  • Big Mountain- Shaped to be wide, stiff and fast. Turning radius is much greater than other skis afor increased stability at high speeds. Camber is reduced or eliminated to increase smooth steering in softer snow. Construction is reinforced to help stiffen the edge of the skis and protect from damage by result of contact with rock and ice debris.
  • The 190's flex was designed to be most beneficial in powder and soft variable snow. The tip has a slightly softer flex than the rest of the ski; this ensures floatation in deep soft snow. The rest of the ski is a nice stiff platform that allows you to cruise through crud and stomp those big landings.
