Volkl RTM 84 Skis + iPT Wide Ride 14.0 Bindings 2014

The Völkl RTM 84 Skis + iPT Wide Ride 14.0 Bindings package is perfectly suited to confident skiers who desire smooth, effortless carving on-piste combined with sidecountry float and maneuverability. Its Dual XTD Transmission Sidewall, Titanal layer and full rocker work in harmony to provide excellent edge control for hard carves and superior stability and smoothness in variable snow conditions. Equipped with iPT Wide Ride 14.0 Bindings, these skis will charge hard anywhere on the mountain.
Rocker Type
Full Rocker - A smooth, gradual bend from tip to tail, with matching sidecut and flex. Extended Low Profile (ELP) gives the skier all the benefits of added maneuverability in soft snow while also delivering smooth, graceful arcs on groomed terrain. By matching the flex and sidecut with the full rocker profile, the skier gains full, uninterrupted edge contact. The more you put the ski on edge, the more effective the edge becomes. The resulting smoothness and predictability is truly uncanny.

Core
Extended Sensorwood Core - Created in a complex CNC milling process, the Extended Sensorwood Core is ‘extended’ upward and lengthwise, and milled to form the chambers of the Dual XTD Transmission construction. The material is a blend of poplar and beech woods, and is found in Völkl’s highest performing models.

Laminates
Powered by Titanium - The top-of-the-line models in the Völkl Alpine ski range boast a special wood core tuning system - all powered by titanium. Above and below the XTD Sensor Wood Core or XTD Wood Core, there is a layer of titanium reinforcing the ski and adding power and stability. The thin yet extremely strong titanium alloy extends its unparalleled dampening properties particularly at high speeds.
Sidewalls
Dual XTD Trns Sidewall - XTD Transmission Sidewall construction features reinforcement channels aligned to support the outside of the ski, over the sidewalls and edges. This works to prevent chatter and provide a stable ride throughout the turn, regardless of snow conditions.

Included Bindings
iPT Wide Ride 14.0 D Bindings - DIN 5-14 / Triple Pivot Elite Toe / Inter Pivot Heel
Bindings Do Not Come Mounted to Skis - Always have a certified binding technician mount and adjust your bindings.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Carving
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
    Carving
For those that like the classic feeling of laying a ski over on edge and arcing a perfect turn, carving skis are what you want. These skis have narrower waists and shorter turn radii for edge to edge quickness and responsive turn initiation and exit on groomed runs and hard pack. The beginner-intermediate skis in this category are designed to make learning how to turn as easy as going from pizza to French fries.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker
    Rocker
Rocker (also called reverse-camber) is just as it sounds – camber turned upside down. Rocker skis have a side profile with a smooth downward curvature and a contact point at the middle of the ski. Rocker skis excel in deep powder. This profile provides the skis with less tip and tail hang up to prevent from catching edges and allows the skis to initiate turns extremely quickly. This profile doesn’t perform as well in icy conditions or on harder snow but if you spend lots of time in deep, untracked snow and like a more playful ski, Rocker is a great choice.
  • Turning Radius: Medium
  • Core/Laminates: Metal, Wood
  • Tail Type: Flat
    Flat
This is your traditional tail, designed to have edge contact all the way through the tail, and only designed for skiing forward. This is also preferred for alpine touring, as you can stick the tails of your skis in the snow.
