Comments about Patagonia Powder Bowl Pants:
I just used these for the first time on the mountain yesterday and they were fantastic. Temps ranged from 30 to 15 deg F with winds gusting around 30 mph and my bottom half was very comfortable. These pants are not insulated so I wore a baselayer (Columbia omniheat leggings, nothing too crazy) and I felt like it was a great balance of keeping me warm without being overly hot. I believe that my setup would still be adequate for days when it's in the teens at the base and closer to 0 up top, but I would probably step up my baselayer game if it were any colder. Personally, I like the flexibility of having one pair of pants that are suitable for colder and warmer days.
I did not use the thigh vents, though I definitely prefer the outer thigh vent on these compared to the more common inner thigh vent so that the vital organs don't get too cold. The pockets were excellent. I feel like the zippers are extremely high quality and I don't have to worry about ruining another phone. There is a dedicated media pocket (front side of right thigh) that appears to be goretex on the inner and outer side which will prevent moisture from the elements or perspiration from damaging your electronics.
The pants look good and fit true to size (check the sizing chart). The waist has tightening bands on each side that are easy to adjust for a tighter fit. I have large thighs for my size and I found an excellent amount of room for movement in these pants without them being overly baggy.
And don't forget that Patagonia provides a lifetime warranty on their products so you can turn these in for a replacement if they wear out!
Great pants, I'd highly recommend them.
