Normally, I wear "medium" size,, and I own other marmut gear in "medium" size that fit well. These were way too big in waist and somewhat too long in length. I did not try size "small"

Perhaps, this is what is meant by "loose" fit:
Runs apx. two sizes larger than what would fit normally so that you can look like a soul searching high schooler trying to impersonate a 1990s MTV gangster.

Return process was easy, though. Brought back to physical store in Fremont, even though I bought online.

Since they did not fit, I was not able to field test.

These are great for skiing. They have almost all of the features that I find important in ski pants, lots of pockets that are waterproof, very colorful, warm stuff on your butt and cuff protectors.

the only thing that I don't like is that the heels drag when you're not wearing ski boots. I've seen other pants that have something you can use to avoid that but these pants do not. I hope that the cuff reinforcement is adequate to prevent this from damaging the pants, but either way it's annoyin to step on your heels.
