I've had this jacket for more than a year and it has been nicknamed my "Faithful Pink Puffy". There is almost no photo of me without it on.
I was originally looking for a warm but yet light and compact jacket to taking with me rock climbing. The only problem I kept running into was range of motion. I tried on every jacket I could find- Patagonia Nano Puff, REI Revelcloud, Mammut- Columbia- Arc'teryx- Black Diamond equivalents and they all had the same problem... When I reached my hands over my head they all started to bind on me at the armpits restricting my movement. A serious problem for rock climbing.

The North Face Thermoball is the only jacket that I can freely swing my arms in and reach up as high as I want without feeling restricted.
This jacket is with me everywhere I go- hiking, backpacking, 14ers, grocery shopping, rock climbing, snowboarding, etc. It's great for all situations and does a great job of keeping the chill off, blocking the wind and even some light rain. And the hood fits over my climbing helmet as well.

You know you've found an awesome piece of gear when you can't imagine being without it and buy a new one without even looking at other, newer options. I just bought another one because this one is staring to wear and I wanted to make sure I had a spare one once I retire this one. The day North Face stops making this jacket will be a VERY sad day for me.

I love this jacket so much that after I take it to Everest Base Camp with me in October I'm going to retire it and turn it into a pillow... Then pull out the new one for another few years of adventure!

I bought this coat in early December and loved how warm, light-weight and comfortable it was! I received tons of compliments on it and told everyone how awesome it was. Plus, it was perfect for rainy Seattle winters! I was IN LOVE!
Unfortunately, before long, one of the rivets in the pocket came loose. Then the threads in the sleeves started to come loose. And finally the material on the hem of the sleeve started to pill, and actually ripped at the seam. I had to do a bit of a gut check and realize that this was a $220 coat that I have had for less than three months and that it was falling apart. I returned it to REI today, and now I see that it's not being manufactured anymore. Hopefully Northface is working on building a more durable version and it will be back next season. Save your money until then!

Comments about The North Face ThermoBall Hoodie - Women's:

Got this jacket today. Wore it during the day and it kept me warm, but tonight at 42 degrees (feels like 37 degrees according to the weather site) with a brisk wind, I felt the cold come through. I was wearing a thin sweater underneath so maybe with a sturdy fleece it would fare better. Nice jacket and I'll enjoy it through Fall, but not sure how well it will work through winter unless I make sure to have thick layers.

Comments about The North Face ThermoBall Hoodie - Women's:

When I opened the package, the jacket was so tiny (not puffy), lightweight, and silky soft that it was hard to imagine it being warm too. It is extremely warm! I felt as if I were in a cozy cocoon on a recent day with lots of wind.

Spicy orange arrived in a brighter color than on my computer monitor, and with a pink cast. Lovely! Fits well.

I raved about the jacket so much that my husband just ordered one.

I was looking for an alternative to down, and this definitely exceeds my expectation.

Comments about The North Face ThermoBall Hoodie - Women's:

This coat looked adorable on my 13 year-old but when she wore it to school on a 30 degree day she froze. I wish NF would have actual temperature ratings on their products like LL Bean to take out the guess work.

Comments about The North Face ThermoBall Hoodie - Women's:

The jacket looks great, fits me (6 feet tall, 160 lbs.) perfectly with sleeves just the right length. Features like zipper pull and pockets are fine, keeps the wind out too. It's the expected warmth that's not there.
I first wore the jacket outside, 43F, no wind, light base layer and my arms were Cold. Once I started hiking it held in my warmth just fine, but standing or sitting in a cold place it does not retain my body heat.
That said, I've increased the thickness of the underlayers and the jacket is fine.
I haven't hiked with it and a backpack yet, nor taken a bike ride. Will I wear it skiing? Can I get enough layers on under it? I'll know in another month.

This jacket was everything I hoped for...until I wore it. Lightweight, packable, warm, and it looks good both on the trail and on the street. Here's the problem: all of the baffling started coming unstitched the very first time I wore the jacket. All over the jacket --- shoulders, sleeves, front and back, threads are popping and unravelling. This is causing the stuffing to migrate and leave cold spots all over the jacket, significantly affecting the performance. I I should note I have not subjected the jacket to extreme wear...though I would have expected to be able to. Walking to work is all it took! The elastic-fabric on the cuffs is also getting pilled and destroyed...from just putting my hands in the zipped pockets! The finished, knotted thread ends where the cuffs were attached to the jacket are also dangling from each sleeve. This is not simply "normal wear and tear". This is clearly a quality issue. It really is a shame. This jacket had so much promise but sadly fails the quality test. Very, very disappointed. Considering the price point and the North Face's reputation for quality products, I expect better.

This is a nice jacket it's warm and extremely lightweight. The only downside is the price. I think it is very overpriced. Also, there were a lot of loose threads not cut on my jacket when I got it.

I got this jacket for my daughter in college. She loves it so much and now her roommate is purchasing one. This jacket is really light and comfortable and yet can easily be compared to a 600 down jacket w/o the puffiness. It weighs less than a pound. Beyond warm and has drawstrings in the pockets to adjust the size. The weather gets as low as the 20"s at her school. Great jacket and will be purchasing one for myself.

I live in Chicago and the weather can get really cold! It's extremely fitted! So I guess it's supposed to lock in the heat! It's expensive and very cute! But as far as this weather here you'll need a longer coat! I didn't expect it to be so snug! My other north face is a medium and it was big! I'm long and skinny! So I'm always buying for my arms and this jacket should've been purchased bigger! But overall! It's a nice cozy jacket! Not coat! I hope this helps!

Please use logic when purchasing this so you don't fall victim to advertising persuasion. This is a very thin jacket. Even though it is ridiculously warm considering how light it is, it's not that much warmer or different than layering a rain jacket over a sweater. I see people with these on now in the middle of December, and I know they must be freezing their butts off, and unable to spend money a real winter coat because they invested over $200 in this one. I bought this looking for a lighter jacket for the fall. The main problem I've come across is that I'm either overheating in it at about 50 degrees F or freezing at 40 degrees F and below. It's not a big deal for short walks from the car to the store, but I'm a student who has to walk long distances across a desolate windy campus. I'm not saying don't get it because I like this coat very much. I think it's pretty and easily packable for hiking trips. However, think about what level of warmth you will need and don't buy into what they are saying about it being as warm as a coat.

I was skeptical that something so thin could be so warm, but I wore it to my son's Soccer tournament that was three days long. It was 32 degrees during the day and 28 at night. All I wore was this jacket and a long sleeve T-shirt. I was warmer than most of the other mom's there that were wearing heavier more bulky coats. I love this jacket!!!

Jacket is beautiful period. If you don't want to wear it in the snow or rain, and the material is very delicate, not as warm as the down, I have six NF jackets and this one is the least warm. Disappointed in this one NF sorry. Probably OK for layering. Not for outdoor winter weather.

I bought this jacket in the mint blue and it's a beautiful color. Everyone loves it and they are not afraid to tell me! I ordered the jacket online after checking the sizing chart on the website. The size is spot on and fits perfectly. The sleeves are long enough and cover my wrists. The jacket is very light weight and at first I didn't think it would be very warm - it weighs about as much as a windbreaker. Now that the weather here in Wisconsin has gotten colder, the jacket has proven itself to be warmer than I ever thought it could be. It hasn't gotten below zero here yet but I think that wearing a sweater underneath the jacket will keep me plenty warm.

I loved the idea of this jacket, being thin and able to keep you warm from the "thermoball technology". It looks great on and it is nice and thin. However, it is not what I would consider a winter coat. The wind goes right through it, and it just does not keep you warm. I have to wear many layers under it. Still a great jacket for Fall and chilly nights, so I decided to keep it. But I am still in search for a winter coat, this one just did not fit the bill.

Comments about The North Face ThermoBall Hoodie - Women's:

This jacket is warm, comfortable, well made, true-to-size, and much better looking on a woman than on its own, as in the online catalog's photo. The diamond stitching pattern allows the fabric to drape around curves in a very flattering way. How many winter sports jackets show-off the feminine figure?

The light-weight Thermoball material fascinates people everywhere, evoking multiple requests for feeling the sleeve. The fabric really is amazing. It's so light, yet retains body heat. The head-turning warm olive green is gorgeous!

I'm extremely satisfied with my Thermoball jacket.

I received this jacket as a gift and at first I thought it would be my new favorite northface. I started to wear it on chilly days and such but it did absolutely nothing...I was always cold much to the givers disappointment, but then I would go inside and I would be sweating bullets. I really am not happy with it especially after hearing so many glowing reviews. I did not recommend spending so much money on it.

I bought this jacket from REI and I loved it!! Lightweight, warm, cute. I wore in -1 deg weather and it was great. After less than 1 month of regular wear (driving kids to school, shopping, etc) the threading came out on the back. I returned and was happy for 2 weeks, then it happened again in the sleeve. It seems to me there needs to be stronger thread or something. This should not happen. I don't put it under strenuous situations. Overall, great idea for a coat, but not durable at all.

I paid $200 for this jacket and it is sooooo thin. Not worth the money.
                              Picture made it look thicker.

The description for this product is very accurate. The jacket is super light weight, but also very warm. I have experienced a lot of rain, snow, and negative degree temperatures thus far with this product. It has remained dry and retained warmth.

I bought the women's thermoball jacket in two colors - coastline blue and dandelion yellow. Both colors looked lovely online, and as a Steelers fan, I was particularly happy to find the yellow one.

When I pulled them out of the box, I noticed that you could see the color of the lining from the outside around the stitching, where there was no insulation to block the inside color. This wasn't very noticeable with the blue jacket - its acid green lining appears as a very faint luminescence around the stitching. But the grey lining of the yellow jacket made it look filthy at the seams. It was not something I could overlook in a $200 jacket.

I went to a nearby TNF store, and was able to look at a few other colors in person. The silver-colored jacket (I think it's called High Rise Grey) has a white lining, and the light mint-colored jacket had a color-matched lining. I don't know why TNF didn't take one or the other of these approaches with the yellow jacket. If they had, I would have kept it.

But the blue one is lovely and super-stylish, and I love it! :)

I read all of the reviews before purchasing the ladies Thermoball jacket. But when I received it, the material was very thin and flimsy. It seemed like it would tear rather easily. It reminded me of the "parachute pants" material from the 80's. I live in Louisiana and don't need anything like a parka, but still don't think this jacket would meet my needs. I had a Denali down jacket that I loved, but it ripped and I will order another one instead when they are in stock again.

First, I've been looking for a jacket with a hood but not too bulky and I love the Thermoball! I debated on it for a while due to the price, however, you get what you pay for. It's a longer jacket, going past hips and is a great fall/spring jacket. I wore it as soon as I got it and my friend had to try it on right away. Overall, awesome jacket!

All of the women's jackets sku to a youth/teen cut. I am a true size 10 and the large and XL women's jackets were too snug on the hips or not long enough - I opted to go with a men's large which again is crazy for my size ... fits the hips and a bit roomy in the shoulders. You are walking a great deal of consumers with poor sizing in women's.

One of the best pieces of clothing I've ever purchased. I wear it almost every day. Just took it to London with extremely variable weather. Wore it as a liner under a trench coat and stayed warm and dry. It can be worn under almost any coat or jacket with no bulk or feeling of weight. Wore it by itself when it was slightly cool and sunny. It also works as a very comfortable and cozy airplane sweater. Sleeves are long...I just rolled them twice and it looks great. Love the length and how it dips lower in back. Have gotten tons of compliments because it's so cool looking in black. Price is what you pay, value is what you get (or don't). In terms of cost per wear, I've already gotten my money's worth for this wonderful jacket.
