Salomon Sickstick Snowboard - Sample 2014

The Salomon Sickstick Snowboard has returned for yet another year for endless adventures on the mountain. Built from the ground up with ABC Wrapper construction, Quadratic sidecut, and Pow Rocker results in a super versatile and playful snowboard. The Sickstick also features a mixture of Salomon's best wood strips for a light and poppy core. Now with the Sickstick Snowboard you can search for that bottomless pow, take slushy summer laps, and everything in between. *This is a new demo product used only for show. It has never been used but may have slight cosmetic wear from transit.*
Rocker Type
Pow Rocker - Flat profile between the bindings for stability, with added rocker on the tip and tail for playfulness and floatation
Flex
Flex Rating: 5 (1 Softest - 10 Stiffest) - A medium flex for intermediate riders who prefer a loose, more skate-like feel with a little precision
Shape
Tapered Twin - What makes the Sick Stick ride so well in pow and hardpack is the tapered twin shape. The stance is centered within the effective edge, while the tail is pulled in slightly to help with floatation and response.
Quadratic Sidecut - A blend of elliptic curves for easy turn initiation, effortless direction changes and fluid edge to edge transitions
Core
Ghost Green - To build this light and poppy core, Salomon mixed their best wood strips with some carefully selected sustainable light wood.
Popster - Popster technology maximizes the natural snap and powerful pop of wood with Popster's shaped core profile, creating the feeling like your skateboard kicktail finally connected with your snowboard.
Laminates
BA MD - Medium density European-made fiberglass layers for a guaranteed consistency of quality on light and lively boards.
Sidewalls
ABC Wrapper - More pop, less plastic: ABC Wrapper is a patented process using structural bamboo veneers to reduce fiberglass and resin content in each board by 40%. Traditional ABS sidewalls get the ax - waterproof Bamboo rods are in!
Base
Sintered EG - Salomon has engineered this base for a super fast glide on everything from fresh pow to sticky spring snow. A sintered base material provides superior wax retention while Gallium strengthens impact resistance and the Electra finish gives a turbo-charged glide.
Fine Stone Finish - Salomon's fine stone finish is particularly efficient on their Sintered EG base - hit the gas in powder or softer snow conditions.
Edges
All Mountain Edge Bevel - Salomon detuned the tip and tail to a 1 degree edge holding tune throughout the key parts of the sidecut, and back to a 2 degree bevel between the feet delivering a solid edge hold with no hang-ups.
Additional Features
Bamboo + Cork Rails - The liveliness of Bamboo mixed with cork composite for the best direct feel and dampening in the industry

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Flat/Rocker
    Rocker/Flat/Rocker
Rocker/Flat/Rocker is another variation on the rocker theme that seeks to provide a little more hard snow edgehold and pop than full rocker while retaining ease of turning and float. Performance is between a fully rockered board and a flat board.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
