Salomon Official Snowboard 2012

Salomon Shop all Salomon
David Benedek redefined the sport of snowboarding on the Salomon Official Snowboard. While David’s out creating his new book and keeping his legend status clean, the Official Snowboard continues to progress too. Popster ollie power and a super light Alien Light core are two technologies that make the Official Snowboard a TWS Good Wood winner for the 3rd year in a row.
Rocker Type
Hook Free Mustache: raised contact points make turn initiation easy for catch free spins and all-terrain riding
Flex Rating: 3 (1 Soft – 5 Stiff) This park board for the freestyle rider features a medium 3 flex with a Directional Twin Shape that combines the freestyle freedom of a twin with the high-speed drive of a directional flex.
Construction and Core
The Salomon Official Snowboard features the Alien Light Core, which uses hand-selected lightwood and Isocell strips to reach the pinnacle of core lightness and consistent flex with high quality wood for dampening and strength where you need it, and air (isocell) where you don’t.
Popster shaped core profile maximizes the natural snap and powerful pop of wood for ollie power.
BA Medium Density fiberglass layers guarantee a consistent quality level for a light and lively board.
Equalizer Sidecut uses three straight lines to evenly distribute the pressure between your feet and edges for easy access edge hold with a board that doesn’t wash out.
Sidewalls, Edges and Base
Rubber Rails provide soft 2mm rubber that cuddles up to the stainless steel edges to keep your ride smooth and chatter free.
EG Sintered base provides superior wax retention, Gallium strengthens impact resistance, and the Electra finish gives a turbocharged glide. The Medium Stone Grind gives you even more speed in all snow conditions, from cold morning corduroy to spring slush.
Full Edge Bevel+: the tip and tail are tuned to a 2 degree edge holding tune throughout the key parts of the sidecut and back to a 4 degree bevel between the feet. This delivers the complete blend of edge hold and park shred.

  • Terrain: Freestyle
Freestyle or park snowboards tend to be a bit shorter in length and love terrain parks, rails, jibs, trash cans, tree trunks, riding switch (non-dominant foot forward), wall rides and more. Freestyle boards often feature a true twin shape, and are typically selected by those looking to ride the terrain park. A more versatile variant of a freestyle board is the all-mountain freestyle, which combines the versatility of an all mountain snowboard with the playfulness of a freestyle snowboard.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker shapes seek to give you both hard-carving edgehold on firm snow from camber underfoot with enhanced turnability and float in powder from the rockered tip and tail. This profile is increasingly popular for freeride boards designed primarily for soft snow.
  • Flex Rating: Soft
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
