Salomon Grip Wide Snowboard 2013

Eco-friendly is the name of the game with the new Salomon Grip Wide Snowboard. Not only is this board packed with features like EQ5, Popster and ABC sandwich the Grip Wide board is also environmentally proactive. Throw it on any terrain and you will be tearin' it up like Wolfgang Nyvelt who says "it's not just better for the planet, it rides better." Whether you like mobbin' down groomers or face shots of powder in the trees, this board will feel right at home out in nature.
Rocker Type
Pow Rocker - Flat profile between the feet for stability with ample rocker at tip and tail for max floatation
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 5, a medium flex for a balance of playfulness and performance
Shape
True Twin - Specific to freestyle, this board shape has identical tip/tail lengths and shapes, symmetrical core profiling, flex and a centered stance. Whether you're riding goofy or regular the true twin shape means it doesn't matter.
Sidecut
EQ. 5 - Equalizer 5 blends five straight lines to give you more control and precision in all conditions
Core
Aspen SLCT - Hand-selected FSC certified wood strips form this light, high quality core
Popster - Popster's shaped core maximizes the natural snap of wood - like the kicktail of your skateboard built into your snowboard!
Laminates
BA MD - Medium Density European-made fiberglass guarantees a consistent quality level for light and lively performance.
ABC Sandwich - Maximizes the natural pop and quality board fell of bamboo as basic building block material. Lower weight and 25% less plastic content then traditional boards, the ABC Sandwich keeps your ride clean and green.
Sidewalls
Royal Cork Rails - Protect the planet and your edges with this eco version of the Royal Rubber.
Base
Sintered EG - Sintered base material for superior glide and wax retention, Gallium for impact resistance, and an Electra finish for maximum speed
Medium Stone Finish - A medium structure finish that improves our fast sintered base glide. Quicker in all snow conditions, from cold morning corduroy to spring slush.
Edges
Freestyle Edge Bevel - Detuning the tip and tail to a 2 degree holding tune throughout the key parts of the sidecut, then back to a 3 degree bevel between the feet. This delivers the complete blend of edge hold and park shred.
Additional Features
G.I.F.T. - The GIFT Project is a new construction process from Salomon which reduces the environmental impact of building a snowboard. Salomon has done away with layers of fibreglass and petroleum based resins and has replaced them with locally sourced structural bamboo sheets. Additionally, bamboo replaces the ABS sidewalls used on traditional board construction. The GIFT project results in a 20% reduction of petroleum based materials, 25% reduction of non-renewable materials and a 10% reduction in board weight.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Flat/Rocker
    Rocker/Flat/Rocker
Rocker/Flat/Rocker is another variation on the rocker theme that seeks to provide a little more hard snow edgehold and pop than full rocker while retaining ease of turning and float. Performance is between a fully rockered board and a flat board.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
